The family has requested donations to assist with arrangements at Benson funeral instead of flowers.
  2. You know darn well he meant roads, utilities, infrastructure, I am so tired of the BS on that remark. I am sure you paid for the Hoover dam all by your little self.
  3. Not everyone can be top dog, that is what the big dogs don't get, we want to be rewarded for our extra effort and hard work. We want to be above folks that still live at a good standard. I never could understand anyone that could hold their head up when 90% of the folks working for them were living no better than the horses in their barn. We do not want to go back to that. The cost of living is causing the deterioration of the quality of life in the working poor.

Call Chickadee, she will put the phone next to his ear, he still can hear you.
  5. I see Reesy peeking in from NY. I don't know If I ever told you, Johnny thought you were one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen. I think he had a little crush on you.
  6. I am fortunate that my family believes in pre-planning. Shortly after my mother died and we had of course taken care of her most intimate things such as clothes, books toiletry items,I made my sisters do an inventory of furniture and treasures. They were not happy at first, it seemed morbid with dad still there. Fortunately he backed me up. I said we will not do this while grieving and under pressure to dissolve the estate. I have seen to many lifelong grudges because of things being divided when people are hurting. No parent wants to pass on and have their kids at odds with each other, it a
  7. I totally agree, it still leaves with a big problem of the cost of living. This is what ratchets the working poor into poverty. The housing bubble still continues to effect the cost of housing. This was one of the worse side effects of the entire fiasco. Instead of allowing the cost to fall the government ran in with more subsidies. Same with food stamps, it is us that pay in the long run for the higher cost, not only do we pay our way we pay theirs too. I am trying to point out what could actually happen should we cut subsidies,we are so far into this tunnel the landslide may have already co
  8. Do you think your life is any different than mine. What you don't get is that 50% of the population is at the poverty level. All of us that have worked so hard are in danger from this situation. Feel free to ignore it, feel free to degrade them. When 2/3rds of what you make are being eaten up trying to protect what you have you will finally understand. We have created quicksand, our heads being above it are going to be temporary if something is not done. These people will literally be in mortal danger in a blink of an eye, they will feed and shelter themselves one way or another. Give them a
  9. My grandfather never wanted his kids to work as hard as he did. He sacrificed so that they would not. Every generation lives better, that is what most parents want. We want our kids to a good education, we don't want them to dig ditches. It is unfortunate that the legacy some leave is another generation living in squalor waiting on a check to live it up a few days until it is gone. It is terrible that we have created a system that allows this. People should work and they should live well off their labors. Working to me is getting up every day, working 8 hours or more every day. If you refus
  10. So life was better when you were working yourself to death and barely getting by. Oh how I long for the good ole days. How about working 40, having time to enjoy friends and family. It's nice to have things and not all of us got them by using credit cards.
  11. There are good times and bad times sitting a watch for a crossing. We joked a few times that Johnny was enjoying being the center of attention too much to leave. You just have to know him to understand that. Now that he had us all together and our full attention he was not going anywhere.
  12. I spent the day with JohnnyJ and his family yesterday. Johnny is in his last days, he is medicated and comfortable as possible. Everyone has faced this reality and arrangements are being made. We know that many people will come to show their respects when the time comes. They family has already ask that instead of flowers donations be made to help with the expense of arrangements. Arrangement are being made at Benson funeral home. You can drop your gift by or mail it. If credit cards are easier you can do that by phone. Long illnesses are a financial strain on a family and Johnny's f
  13. The growth in the minimum wage sector might as well be unemployment for what it cost the tax payer.
  14. Minimum wage always turns into an emotional debate about what some deserve and some don't. Minimum wage and part time work are fine when it stays at about 20%. In the last few years it has been at 40% and steadily creeping up. You might as well add unemployment at around 10% to it and call it a day at about 50% not contributing to our economy. Not only not contributing, not paying taxes and qualifying for social services. If we can not bring manufacturing back to the states then we will have no choice but to raise minimum wage. It should be raised to place full time people into a small t
  15. A philosophy I hold close my heart is not always true. I know that self importance, arrogance, and conceit are destructive traits. We all work towards things that make us proud of our accomplishments. You always have to be careful of an overblown sense of self importance. I often think about this phrase to keep my feet on the ground. Put your fist in a bucket of water when your feeling too important and indispensable. Now take your fist out and see just how fast that space fills up with water. I realized that it does not apply to all people. Some people are so good and so s
