  1. Whatever, TBAR. The facts are is that I am pretty well-versed in the municipal and state bond department and I know the people that worked at Knox Wall and I know the founders. You are just showing that you are complete horse's ass so please continue and destroy the rest of your credibility.

  2. You don't know anything about municipal bonds if you think Knox Wall is not the best in the southeast.

"The best?" Hardly. They are small potatoes compared to many, many other firms that do the underwriting.

And it doesn't seem like a conflict of interest? Sure does look like it.

  3. What I can tell you about the bond business is that Knox Wall (which was bought by Morgan Keegan) is the firm for muni bonds in the southeast. They are the best. I know that Morgan Keegan is a subsidairy of Regions. What do you do? If you want the best, you go to the best regardless of who they are a sub of or who is the president.

And what about the local Regions bank president on the committee to get the bond passed . . . the same Regions Bank that owns Morgan Keegan which brought the muni bonds to market, making a huge syndicate fee?
  4. She was not in that postion during the bond votes so no conflict of interest or crazy conspiracy.

I guess I'm slow or just don't pay close enough attention to things. I don't think she was in this position with the board during the time she was leading the Cedarcrest action group campaigning for the bond.
  5. Try Kohl's. Their "school uniforms" are on clearance now.

I have to take my 15 yo boy shopping tonight. I need to get him some pants and a dark blue dressy shirt and some shoes tonight. Anybody got any good ideas on where the best place to start is? Any deals out there?
  6. Who would that be if you don't mind posting?

I guess my closest "famous" relative would be my cousin who was a Georgia legislator and the one who introduced the bill that would eliminate school taxes on the property tax for a person over the age of 65 (or 62, can't remember which). There was talk of him running for governor after that but for some reason he decided not to.
  7. You have your opinion and I have mine. He is not any different at motivation or coaching than the best coaches in the middle school. I would rate him about 4th after Wilson, Powell, and Lamb.

You have a personal connection to him. I don't. I see it from a different angle and I have been around middle school athletics in this country for 15 years. I happen to like the Jones program; don't get me wrong. I just don't see anything special about the way he coaches.

We can go back and forth all day...And you would still be wrong.

It really is his ability to motivate. It is definitely not his scheme although I am sure he puts in the time.

There is no way I am going to say that his kids aren't athletic. I have literally coached in every corner of the county, and the best athletes I have ever coached were in the North...Moses and East Paulding. (Sorry Felix and Curtis for the added pressure.) Fowler proved that having superior athletes does not mean certain victories. I guess I can go ahead and go on the record as saying that I also think Powell and Wilson are excellent coaches. I would feel fortunate having my son play for any of those guys. It is just that with Nape you get something special...a little more than one expects.

A few years ago when he got beat by Moses (he was still competitive) the only difference then was the coaching.

He is absolutely unusually talented in that area. Jones has its own unique set of obstacles. So, in my opinion he has a tougher job in many instances.

The most ironic thing is that he would probably agree with you. He would say it is the kids. That is why I am posting what he would never.

He is also an excellent teacher. The trick (and treat) is to get him to come and read (motivate) a class of kindergartners or first graders. That would be his best gift of all.

    Go ahead Mr. Napier.

Didn't we all have a form of the Mullet? I should post pics, and I didn't even mention the puberty moustache.

  8. Hey, take a freakin chill pill. He has the athletes period. There isn't any other middle school that can go head to head with him and win. It isn't his amazing coaching scheme or his motivation. IT IS HIS KIDS. Your post could have been about any of the middle school coaches sans one or two. They all motivate and love their kids. He isn't unusually talented in that area.

    NegativeGirl,

You should challenge him to the video game of your choice before you dismiss his nerd-dom. I have known him for 30 years and I see him as nerd. He just doesn't have a mullet anymore. He was a football player first.

There is no way he has the most gifted athletes this year although they are talented. The athletes are pretty even across the board, except for Dobbins. The athletes there are exceptional for that age group. Over the last seven years his teams have all been competitive whether or not he had outstanding athletes. The first year he was there he took a 4th seeded team and played in the championship game.

I disagree. I think he would be competitive at any school in Paulding for several reasons. He is gifted when it comes to motivating that age group. If he were to look in a hole in the ground he would have a line of young people behind him to see what he is looking at. He is unorthodox and unafraid to coach and be innovative. He is not married to a particular scheme, offense or defense. Win or lose, he is positive. He knows he doesn't know everything. He doesn't mind changing things according to the athletes that he has available. He puts his team first. He does not run a cover 2 in MS ball, and he has a knack for eliminating excuses. He also has a pretty good situation. He has supportive administration across the board. But most of all he is willing to do what it takes to be successful. If it means spending half of his supplement on cleats for guys that can't afford them, then so be it. If there is a comparable coach, he is probably on the Jones staff or in administration.

I have coached with him and against him, and would rather coach with him.

I think the kids who have him as a coach are fortunate.

  9. Well, my experience has been that the girls dress much more formal at the homecoming dances than the boys. Khakis and a nice shirt will be fine.

ummm...Khakis are business casual NOT semi-formal. Go to the thrift store and get some dress pants, a button up shirt and a tie.
  10. I can't get past the fact that you are a big fan of the chicken nuggets!!!! :o

I am a big fan of chicken nuggets, have you noticed they changed the price of the 10 piece meal from $4.59 to $6.00???? WTH?!?!? Thats the same price as those rip off premium chicken sandwiches....

    Rant over....
