  1. If I'm wrong on that then a whole bunch of people are wrong on it. Won't be the first time.
  2. Same dumb video of Todd Pownall (David Austin's campaign manager) acting like he's against an imaginary tax increase by Todd and David's opponent. Why is he silent now? Oh, because his guy is in office now. Yes folks, for those of you who didn't know, TODD POWNALL was DAVID AUSTIN'S campaign manager in 2008 when David ran. Now we're supposed to believe that TODD will, if elected, push back against David on pending mill-rate increases and tax hikes. Ooops, Todd is already 0 for 1 by taking a pass on this pending increase tomorrow.
  3. Dude, the SPLOST is not decided on by the BOC. Mill-rate increase are decided by the BOC. If you can't distinguish which is more relevant, then I can't help you.
  4. What are the actually factions that are fighting with each other. Can you elaborate?
  5. Are you serious? You don't think that commissioner candidates should be expected to take a position on pending decisions like the budget, mill-rate increases, etc.??? These are the types of decisions they will have to make if elected. However, you feel that their opinion on the SPLOST, which is voted on by the public and has nothing to do with being a commissioner, is important? You are absurd and transparent.
  6. Apples and oranges. 1. Todd states he's against mill-rate increases on his website. 2. David proposes a mill-rate increase. 3. David pays for endorsement Ad. 4. Todd is mum on mill-rate increase. Someone can legitimately ask the question. Has this guy been bought off?
  7. ORIGINAL TITLE OF TOPIC BEFORE PUBBY CHANGED IT (AND HE WONDERS WHY CANDIDATES DON'T SHOW UP FOR HIS DOG AND PONY SHOWS HE CALLS A "ROUNDTABLE": TODD POWNALL - BOUGHT AND PAID FOR? Somehow Pubby has determined that a question can be inaccurate.
  8. "I was against it before I was for it" - Todd "John Kerry" Pownall
  9. ORIGINAL TITLE OF TOPIC BEFORE PUBBY CHANGED IT (AND HE WONDERS WHY CANDIDATES DON'T SHOW UP FOR HIS DOG AND PONY SHOWS HE CALLS A "ROUNDTABLES": TODD POWNALL - BOUGHT AND PAID FOR? "I am not in favor of a tax increase or millage rate increase. This means as a county we will have to look for creative solutions to accomplish goals, complete tasks, and provide county services." ... The old Todd Pownall before Chairman David Austin (who's raising the mill-rate) paid for an endorsement ad in the newspaper for him. The below link shows Todd's non-response to the pending mill-rate inc
  10. So you agree with over-taxing us this year in order to avoid tough decisions in future years? You think a 31% reserve is not sufficient enough when all is required is a 25% reserve? Are they going to pay the taxpayers interest on this extra money they're taking above and beyond what is needed? Oh, and how can you guarantee they won't spend it between this year and future years? Why doesn't Todd offer an opinion on this? "I am not in favor of a tax increase or millage rate increase. This means as a county we will have to look for creative solutions to accomplish goals, complete tas
  11. Every year is a fresh battle my man. That's why I'm opposed to them raising the mill-rate this year when they don't actually need the money for this year.
  12. You're boring. Correct! They're going up 14.3% from what you thought they were after the release of the 2011 FY Budget on June 1st. :ninja:
  13. I know one thing, everybody's taxes increases a whole bunch since the june 1st release of the budget when they said their would be no millage rate increase.
  14. Regardless, the only thing the mill-rate accomplishes is adding 2.9 mil to the leftover EXCESS RESERVE for future years. It is not needed to meet the needs of this year's budget. I'll say it again, the county needs to justify every penny they take from tax-payers and this mill-rate increase is not necessary.
  15. Whitey, I moved here in 2007. Voted for David Austin in 2008. Never met Jerry Shearin until Christmas of 2009 and never knew who Beverly was until she announced her candidacy. This is part of your problem. You won't allow anyone to challenge anything that goes on in this county without smearing them and connecting them into some crazy conspiracy from the past. The data speaks for itself. There is no justification to raise the County M/O Mill-rate just so we have extra excess reserve at the end of FY 2011. Regardless of who is getting a tax decrease the county still needs to justify the
  16. Right and Austin passed it at 220% his first year. You're in total spin mode because you can't explain this Tuesday's vote to raise the mill-rate.
  17. Whitey, 75% of the residences went down in value. Of which I'm one. If you think that disqualifies 75% of the county from having input on the budget and the mill-rate increase, you're nuts. You have obviously lost the argument over and over and now are resorting to threatening to put my personal records on PCOM. My name is public at PauldingPundit.com and anyone can look my tax records up if they wish. Do what you want but you're actually discouraging people from participating in this forum.
  18. Ha! Can't find it at the moment. Anyhow, the Paulding Pundit fights for all the peoples.
  19. Probably still going down. However, now that the Bond is increasing I have to re-do the math. Of course the point is even if my taxes dropped by half, the county still has to justify the need for the half. And right now, they're raising the mill-rate on the M/0 solely to have extra excess at the end of the year. The mill-rate increase is not needed to meet the demands of the 2011 FY budget as shown below:
  20. Nice comeback Whitey. You had no idea that the Bond was being increased also. Maybe Austin and Pownall are keeping you in the dark for a reason. :ninja:
  21. 16.9% and the only reason they ain't raising fire is because I think it's capped at 2mils.
  22. Yep, this Tuesday. Current 1.60 mils Proposed 1.87 mils Difference .27 mils % Increase = .27/1.60 = 16.9% Add this to the 14.3% mill-rate increase on the County M & 0 and you can kiss the majority of the your "tax decrease" good-bye. You can find it on page 10 or 11. http://paulding.gov/DocumentView.aspx?DID=471
  23. Why would I blame Austin for raising the Bond when it was due to the inherited courthouse/greenspace debt? By the way, you know the Bond is going up on Tuesday also?
  24. Current Mill-Rate = 6.65 Proposed Mill-Rate = 7.60 Difference = .95 mil % Increase = .95/6.65 = 14.3%
