I am actually hearing some folks say that because there are no blacks on the police force that has to mean that the folks hiring are racist. I would ask if they had qualified candidates apply before I made that accusation. I do not believe in the quota system. I think qualifications do matter. If it is proven that there have been good candidates who stepped up I would then make a charge of racism.

Pubby, the law abiding citizens are paying the Police to protect them and their community. I don't see that happening in this case. Some of the demonstrators really are marching for justice which is color blind BTW. I think those looting and committing crimes .are not there for anything more than to steal, burn, and cause trouble. They are hurting the livelihood of the business owners and might even cause them to lose their source of income. I do not believe this is a race war but I do believe it is being used by some as a war of have nots against haves. They want something and they see a chance to take it. I also think it is time to jail them or shoot them before they do more harm.

Heard a news report today that a lot of the demonstrators are from Oakland and do not live in the town. Also heard that the New Black Panthers seem to be taking the lead.

I disagree. I think they have everything to lose number one being their freedom and number two their lives. For most of the folks you are speaking of there are all kinds of programs and scholarships available to them. It does not matter how disadvantaged they are. What matters is their crimes and the destruction to the lives and property of others. You can feel sorry for them but you have to see the crime for what it is and deal with that. I agree with a lot of what the Libertarians stand for. I could never be in that Party because they are for open borders and their ideas on foreign policy do not jive with mine. No perfect Party exists.
