Think it was near Sardis more toward Albertville. Do you know where Sardis is?
-
I am watching it too. He is speaking on Fox now. These charges were bogus and should never have been brought!! What was this government thinking?????
-
(Adam Gregory) I know him and I like him. He has been active in a number of County issues. He does the Paulding County Rodeo and has a beautiful family.
-
I have always liked the fact that you stand up for your beliefs. I will always respect your right to have your own opinion. I like them both and I admire Todd for taking on City Hall and proving his case. I also think in her own way even though it cost her Beverly did not betray the trust that the BOC expected from an employee.
-
I don't have a clue what she did or did not know but she did her job and she did not betray that trust. She was not asked the question and maybe Todd should have asked her. Her answer would have been important in this race. Since he did not ask her it has NO PLACE in this race! JMO I am really not into mud slinging. I think it just gets everyone dirty. If there are relevant facts then I want to hear them. If some one wants to win by tarnishing another candidate, just because they can, then I don't want to go there with them.
-
No, I think that we need to look at what the candidates bring to the table just as BS is looking at what Todd has done and where he thinks he will lead Paulding. I don't think we should fault a candidate for something someone else did. I don't think it was her place to speak for the BOC. Jerry was quite capable of doing that and he did. I do think Mr. Pownall played a part in that election and he was not sitting in her chair.
-
I doubt she was thinking about running for office and I am sure most folks would have been concerned about whether the next employer would want to hire someone who did not know when to answer questions and when not too. It seems to me the Chairman spoke for himself and that was all the voters needed. Why should she have butted in, and answered something she was not asked to answer, and apparently did not need to answer. The end result was what YOU wanted wasn't it?

You are still trying to absolve the Feds in all of this which means Obama and his policies. I don't think we should have had the stimulus and we should have dealt with the issues and cut things from the budget a long time ago. That is what all of us are doing with our own finances (If we are responsible). I do believe this thread is about local elections and I hate that so much is tied to the current policies of the President and his Czars. They most definitely are though. -
By not going public she showed she has a sense of what her responsibilities were and knew what her role was. Who would want to hire someone who did not. Sounds to me like she was damned if she did and damned is she didn't! Wow! What a position to be pushed into.

I think we might get further that way! It would be nice if we all could find a buddy that has both oars in the water too.

Those of us who were paying attention knew it! I guess you would have voted to cut those programs instead? How would you have solved that problem. I see a lot of "they didn't do it right" but not much of "this is the way I would solve it". -
That is unfair! She was an employee and they are supposed to work for the County not a person. It would have been the same difference if she was in the employ of the County under a different BOC. You said yourself that Jerry Shearin was asked the question and she had no right to speak at that meeting unless SHE was asked to. I want to see fair elections in this County and Todd may be the very best one running but I want folks to look at the candidates for what THEY bring to the table. Not because they once worked for somebody who is unpopular with you and others.
-
Was she personally asked to answer that question? Is it normal for an employee to speak over others who are considered the "Elected Officials", and who are in charge, in answering questions during a meeting like that?

The system would have already taken care of the bad debt and without government interference the big businesses who were bailed out would have had to restructure and make it in the free market. The countries who did less of the bailouts are already doing better. We apparently learned nothing from the great depression because we are repeating the same mistakes. This thread is about local candidates though and I can't vote for someone who is on board with the party who is driving the economy over a cliff. -

Actually the company making the proposal said they would give the present employees the first opportunity to take the jobs. They planned to hire two administrators who would be from Paulding. Do you view this as an opportunity for Paulding residents to be employed or something the school should not consider. -
Where is yours and how many bedrooms?

You mean the stimulus money that my Grandchildren will be paying back? If we had better policies on the Federal level we might have more tax revenue because folks could open businesses and our residents would have jobs and be able to pay taxes. Did you ever consider that if the bail outs and stimulus packages had not happened we would already be climbing out of this? -
I don't get to vote in this one. My vote will be in the Tommie Graham/ Vernon Collett race. The only interest I have here is my desire to see the best candidate elected for the good of the county. This is my home so I will be paying attention. I want to see the candidates judged on their abilities and not on someone else's. I don't want any of them to be yes men to anyone period!
-
You do not have any proof of that do you? I take it you are supporting Mr. Pownall.
-
I have no clue. I think that is a question for her to answer. She is not Jerry Shearin and should not be trashed because she worked a job for the county. I sure do hope this race is not going to be about the candidates who are long gone. I just had a few words with someone else about a past race for the BOE. I think these candidates, all of them, should be judged on their own merits and not on those of some one else. I would say the same if Mr Pownall worked for the county and got trashed because he worked there at the same time Jerry was there.
-
I guess that is one way to get votes. Just link the former Chairman to someone and you think they will be toast. Good for your guy huh? I want to see this race run on the merits of the candidates not on someone trying to trash them because of a job they once held. Did they do the job well and did they work for others in that same position?

Yeah, just when the airlines are in trouble and fuel is going up you want to make it harder for them to stay in business. Just how would having Delta do less business at the Airport in Atlanta help our revenue problems? -

Funds aren't there and you can't just make them appear. I don't see your arguments and fault finding have much validity. -

Sounds like you are taking it up the pecking order but you have stopped at the state. Why didn't you take it to the next step and question what part the Feds and Obama's policies play in the budget crunches virtually ALL of the States are experiencing? Just how do you think you could do it better when the funds aren't there.
