I wonder if the programs they hand out at graduation will list the honor students. I will be asking the BOE questions about this. It is just more political correctness in my opinion. Course I think just wearing the honors robes is a kind of recognition. Seems to me it is just another step toward making everyone equal in all things.

I tried very hard not to bash anyone. I just stated the facts as I see them. I can state this as fact because I have lived here for a long long time and remember. I guess I could pull my property tax bills since 1990 or so and really see what the difference is. I know that they did not bother me much and Paulding had some of the lowest taxes around until 2005 or 2006 maybe. That was part of the reason that people started to buy here. Oh well I will have to go look now to be sure. I checked and they have almost doubled since 2000. They really started to take off about 2003. Don't

Could actually have been written by an opposing candidate! Sounds like a try at deflecting the issues of today back to the issues of yesterday. The question seems to be are we going to judge two of these candidates based on their BOE records. I don't remember having the taxes even in 2000 that we have now. I don't think Golden was on the BOE when those went so high. I think a large portion of our property taxes go to the school system. The big ones were voted in before the 2008 election. I personally, am getting rather sick of hearing some try to demonize Golden because he is a small b

(1) Small businessman who knows what the issues are for business and jobs. (2) Has served the County in the past and knows the issues affecting schools and teachers (3) Has experience with the budgets in Paulding County and the challenges in trying to balance budgets. (4) Understands the issue of Federal Mandates and the strings they bring (5) Seems to be able to get his ideas across and speak so he is understood. (6) Seems to care about Paulding County and her citizens and does not have any other agenda. These are a few of my reasons. I will be looking for more info on him. I

I am very impressed with Steve Golden! I think he would be a great Representative for District 19.

Me too!!!

I think I have heard some of those war drums too.

Well I won't be fooled again. One Jimmy Carter was enough for me.

You sure are mixing your political allies here. Don't think I would EVER lump Austin and Shearin in the same group!!! I want facts too and not just "this is true because I say it is". I don't waste my vote that way. Politics is a nasty business and I plan to check out the Candidates I vote for. I will not just take some one's word about them on p.com. Prove the accusations against Mr. Golden. I don't care who is backing him as long as they have a stake in Paulding County and they are doing it because they believe he is the best one to serve the interests of the citizens of Paulding Coun

Boy you really don't know much do you? I suggest before you start making accusations you go and get facts to back them up. Who are you getting this info from and what stake do they have in this election? I think taking someone else's word rather than having personal knowledge of the facts can prove to be a huge mistake. I still want to know why Stout quit his job at the bank. Since you are supporting him too, do you have the answer for that? In this economy would you say that was a wise decision? Course I don't know what kind of new business he is involved in, do you? Who backed Pa

Can you tell me what years Golden served on the BOE? Do you know? What were the votes for? New schools? Increase in teachers or their pay? Details please!
-
What year was that and where is your proof? I think if you are trying to measure baggage you better look at the baggage and history Daniel has before trying to trash Steve Golden. This election seems to be about how much mud can be slung. Don't think you are helping Paulette with this post about her voting for tax increases.

Sounds like she is a pretty smart cookie! Nothing wrong with that quality on the BOC! I happen to think the other two candidates possess that quality too. Personally I don't think the Chairman would like to be thought of as having been forced to do something he did not want to do. The question seems to be, do we as a County choose someone who will be more in line with the members who will remain on the Commission, or do we choose someone who may question more. Which is going to be better for the County?
-
If I heard it correctly, it took the full commission to fire her and Austin made an agreement with her to transfer her to the DA's office and fund that job until her retirement, which was due to happen in the near future. I would want to get the time in for my retirement too. I think anyone would. They cut her job even after the agreement was made to fund it so she went to an attorney who worked out a settlement and she left after being given said settlement. I did not see anything illegal about it. Did I misunderstand what was said?

Say it all you want! I just told you what my opinion is.

Still say he has no record to stand on. If I were a temporary House member I would do the popular thing with the folks in the 19th and it would not be enough for any voter to base their July vote on. Not enough time in office to have a record, sorry if that does not jive with your view PT.

Does that mean that you think any candidate who does not choose to come on P.com is NOT being open? I think that would be quite a stretch! Can't help but think there is more to this story.
