All of this and you called me on the carpet for pointing out that slavery exists in this country today. How can we celebrate how far we have come if we can't drag out of the dark the fact that it is still going on. Both here in the shadows among people afraid to complain and in other countries. It may be a history lesson but it is also a lesson for us today.

I never meant to imply that it mitigated slavery in any way. I just replied to Lowrider's post that it did not in her mind equate when illegals were mentioned. I thought it was because she was not aware of how some of them are brought here and what happens to them after they arrive. Slavery still exists.

The use by some employers of Illegals is known in some circles as modern day slavery. Illegals are brought here and forced into prostitution every day. They have no choice. There are some ugly stories out there. I think they busted a ring like that in Cartersville just recently.

Some still do, sad to say.

Just what kind of homes do you think some of those college educated parents came from? If you want to work in America and make it you have always been able to, I do think it is harder under the administration we have now. They have changed the laws so much that a college loan has to go through the government for approval. They can now pick and choose who to give them to.

I don't understand what part of that some folks just don't get!

My thoughts were similar to yours. The question I have is, if this were a lesson to stir up racist feelings and hate which race was it aimed at. I know which one I think was most probably stirred up!

I have known a lot of Mormons. Not one of them had more than one wife. They were all good people who cared about their community and their families. They worked for the good of others and served their country by being in the military. Some of them I am lucky enough to call friends. I still can't believe she said what she said. How could anyone think those statements would help Newt?

That is not what I said at all. I just stated the fact that he would have won even if there was only one vote cast. Or maybe no votes. When there is no opposition that is the way it works.

Well I guess the day will come when food Nazis come into the home and say "this is not good for you" and just take it out of the home. I think the freedom to choose what you eat appears to be the target of those who want to control every part of an individual's life. I can't believe the opinions of some that argue for the freedom to choose in other areas. Course they always seem to know what's best for others. Did it ever occur to any of them that some kids eat because they are depressed or to fill a void that is in their lives? You cannot tell me that fat kids do

It is funny to me that some of the same folks who would argue against ostracizing a child for others reasons seem to approve of doing it if they are overweight. I find this add appalling and the idea that some adults find it OK is shocking to me.

Her statements are not only causing shock in our backyard in Georgia but it is making national news. I wonder how long it will be before the apology is issued? Can't see how this will help the candidate she is supporting.
