Why would we want to take a chance on an unknown when we have such a caring involved BOE member. We have no clue how this guy would do in the job. I am with you on this one.
-
That is a non binding vote just as the casino vote is non binding.

Raising my hand cause I know that answer. The BOE votes him on and off the Island.

Just read this on Peach Pundit: Debbie Dooley, Co-Founder of the Atlanta Tea Party and Steve Ramey of the Founding Fathers chapter of the Tea Party Patriots are both said to be filing papers at the State Capitol tomorrow. They will be running against Don Balfour. I think it relates to this topic.

Yeah, they like that cheap labor. I don't believe it but if it is true they need to use the legal immigration plan and pay their workers better.

So how much money could Tony Crowe save the County?

He told me he never said that he would hire Jerry. He said that at a meeting I attended last Saturday. He mentioned it to me before the meeeting and stated that he had heard it. He said it was a rumor when he addressed the group. -

I have met many folks who hold office or are running for office. I have liked many of them very much but I do not vote for them or campaign for them just because I like them. I vote for them or campaign for them because I believe they are the best candidate to do the job. My question in this race will be which of these men can do the best job for Pauling County. Which candidate has the education and experience in the fields needed to help us all survive this economy and to lead the county. I do not want to vote for anyone who would end up leading us into bankruptcy or outrageous taxes. -

I want to know if he plans to raise taxes to hire more folks for the County Government. That is the only way he could. -
ok.... How has David Austin saved us that much money?
NewsJunky replied to Lady Raider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Austin did not get the grant to build the airport. Jerry Shearin did that. What would you suggest should be done with the Airport now that it exists? Help us do what? -
Not quite. If you listen to the tapes Zimmerman was out of his vehicle and walking while talking to the dispatcher. You can hear him breathing hard from the walk. He was not in his car. Lots of crime in the neighborhood recently and he was doing what he had signed on to do and that was to "Watch".

I expect you are correct. Employees who were laid off are probably not going to support him and who knows how the dept. heads in Paulding government feel about those budget cuts. All I know is that our taxes have not increased like one BOC member said they should. I think Austin would catch it on the chin no matter what he voted to do. The economy is bad and the tax base is smaller. The budget crunch has hurt us all. He made promises about taxes and best I can tell he has tried hard to keep them. surepip, I think your case would still be where it is with or without Austin as chair but th -
I think the jury is still out on this one or it should be. Unless you were there you don't know. It will be interesting to see how the trial comes out.

Just read that. Picture is not black and white is it. Not quite the story that the media put out to begin with.

Ditto! I don't think the S-PLOST will help Paulding much at all. In 10 years they will just want to renew it because Paulding still needs most of the things that are on the wish list.

Mr. Lewis is not elected by the people. Mr.Savage would not have minded being on camera. I doubt the Women's Club would have much credibility if they did not respect the wishes of their guests on such matters. JMO

The question of whether this is constitutional came up yesterday too. I found this piece on that question: http://www.jacksonhe...-questions.html 3. The final question about the T-SPLOST relates to a provision in the law that would punish counties in a region that fail to approve the new tax. Although legislators have framed the vote as letting taxpayers decide, they didn't create a level playing field for the vote. If a region fails to approve the tax, then the state will punish the counties in that region by forcing them to match state funds at a higher rate. Rather than a sta
