  1. GOOD FOR YOU, THANKS FOR LETTING US KNOW! Did you confront this person, What was their excuse for speeding? STUDENT of what, riding lessons, how old? (just curious)

I did confront her about her driving. She is usually very reponsible but she's going through a really rough time right now. She has taken horseback riding lessons from me for about 4 years. She is 17.

  2. We'll solve that problem when we get our tanks built!

When you see them starting to run you off the road, just point and fire! Knock them off the road instead! And if one happens to run you off the road, then turn your gun around and blow them up! ;) This will also make the road safer for those coming along behind you.

Great idea! I wonder if I can get a tank with a trailer hitch so I can pull the horse trailer, armored horse trailer of course?

  3. LOL  See there......instant and perminate solution! This is already making us laugh at stupid , and we haven't even got them built yet! But I bet at the time is sure wasn't to funny!

I usually get run off the road at least once a month on Mt. Taber just driving to and from work because of people crossing over the line onto my side of the road going around some of the curves. Sometimes it appears to be kids on their way to EPHS but just as often, it's adults.

  4. OK This is what I have been wanting for me and my loved ones for years! Let 'em ram into this!

Then you can just laugh at stupid.

I walked outside one morning and found a golf cart stuck in the mud where we had just cleared and leveled for our large riding arena. It appears that a neighborhood kid decided to do doughnuts on it the night before and got stuck. It would have been nice to have had one of those tanks then. I could have made a golf cart pancake with it. lol

  5. Wait a minute Laura.....I just had a brainstorm. I know exactly how to put a stop to it! Put our cops in these (tanks), then when they see people or have reports of people doing stupid things........just shoot em! That will put an instant and perminate stop to it!

LOL I sell aluminum armor plating perhaps we can build our own.

  6. How stupid do you have to be to speed down a one lane road with children playing. Please take your stupity elsewhere.

    Pubby

It it ok to post tag numbers and pics of unsafe drivers on here.

I have discovered that the person speeding on Antioch Church was one of my older lesson students who was coming to my house to take care of the horses when my mother passed away.

I have put a stop to it. I have also reported the children who are speeding up and down Antioch Church Spur and tearing up my gravel drive with their dirt bikes and four wheelers. One of the kids almost t-boned the sheriff's car as it came down my driveway.

  7. Mystery calls it a boot camp.

It is really just an excecise routine that is specifically designed for people that are primarily using the silver comet as there type of physical activity, I teach you methods to burn more fat, and tone insted of just strolling down the path.

I have always used it for clients to rev up their fat burning in the spring and summer.

I am not that sure about the term boot camp, I always envision some one standing over you and pushing you until you cry or barf.

It is nowhere near that it is very suitable for beginners and those that have gotten out of shape.

I will be holding them every sat at 9:00 am in a few weeks.

I like the seaboard parking area best, but I am flexible on it.

    I wanna come!

  8. It's times like this you wish it was legal to get hold of a couple of those 'Stop-Sticks' that the cops throw across the road to stop people. The entertainment value alone when they hit it would be priceless. :D

I feel your pain, Froggy --- I hate those 4-wheeler idiots who ride on the public roads and don't give a damn about what the law says.

And LauraLeigh, I bet if you switched your board fence for an *electric* one, that contact stuff would STOP. ;)

    I'm cruel, and I don't care. :p

Strange that you mention the electric wire. All of my horse paddocks have a "hot wire" just above the top rail. I caught two kids daring each other to touch the electric wire one Satruday morning. One kid was telling the other that it was no worse than putting your tongue to a battery.

  9. I have a similar problem with neighborhood kids on 4 wheelers and dirt bikes. They run up and down my gravel drive slinging the gravel off the drive and making ruts in it. Most of my driveway is an easement but my easement states that the drive is for my use and the use of my visitors only. We recently had "No Trespassing" signs posted all the way down the drive. Now we start to prosecute. I have a 4 wheeler on surveillance video backing into and breaking the boards on my fence. Hubby is afraid these kids might hurt my horses if we prosecute but I'm sick of the disrepectful behavior and damage to my property. I have been ripped off multiple times, my granddaughter hit by a ricocheting bullet while standing in my front yard, almost hit myself by a 4 wheeler while walking down my driveway, kids throwing rocks at visitors coming down my driveway and then giving them the finger when they stopped to confront them. We are now faced with having to replace all the gravel on a driveway that is close to 600' long. I think I'll share the bill with a few neighborhood families since they allow their kids to share my driveway.

  10. Please note that these are not the Pike County horses. It is my understanding that no disposition has been made regarding their future at this time. Two of the most wonderful horses I have ever owned were rescued horses. If you are in the market, please consider a horse from GERL or any one of the other wonderful equine rescue organizations here in Georgia.

  11. We had 14 at one time 3 brood mares, 3 babies, 3 yearlings, 1 show horse, 2 year old in training, + 3 others ... I had a barn with 3 stalls, 1 acre of pasture so my feed bill was $$$$$...shoes, VET bills, Trainer & travel expenses, Shows & fees, Show saddles, silver stirups, fancy halters with initals on them..matching leads ...show clothes,, beaver hats, silver buckles with name, and on & on ...One day I just said ENOUGH....we sold all but the show horse & brought him home & took a while to adjust to not having to be in a stall all the time. I sold him to a good home since no one except me ever did anything with him & I did not ride...We all cried but new it was best for him...He had a superior in Western Pleasure & was qualified for the AQHA World Show as a 2 year old... You can sell but it is difficult I cried when each one left..

Each time I bred my AQHA mare, I told my hubby that I would sell the foal but I still have both babies. One will be 8 this year and the other will be 5. My mare is a trained cutting horse. The 8 year old is just a lesson and trail horse and the 5 year old will complete her training in reined cow horse this year. We also have a Mustang and a POA. All are mares. My trainer had a fit when I told him that I wouldn't put shoes on the 5 year old so that she could compete in reining. Like you, I just want what is best for them and being able to slide 50' just doesn't seem like it would be in my horse's best interest.

  12. I know all of the athletes that went and heard that you guys did great! I'm with you on being torn. I would love to help MB get this off the ground for Paulding. I know Ryan loves to ride. He would compete if you have room. I'd be glad to help you with the kids. Let me know.

I'll have to check with Cobb County to see what their position would be on me volunteering for both counties. Two of the riders that I took for Cobb last November have been with me for 2 years. The third rider had taken a break from riding for a few years and just started back last year. I would like to continue working with them but I can take several new riders this year also. I don't know the ladies name who took the Paulding team to Perry last fall, do you? I will definitely have room for Ryan if Cobb will allow me to "straddle the county line" so to speak. I would love to have your help with the riders. It takes a tremendous amount of work to prepare the athletes for competition and even more work once you get the riders, horses, equipment, feed, hay etc... to the fair grounds.

  13. husband says the price you pay for the horse is the cheapest part of the horse expierence...vet,shoes,food,tack,trainer,shows,entry fees, travel expenses.......and on , and on $$$$$$$$$$ until you sell them or they die of old age..

Sell them???? You can sell horses? lol

Halters with matching lead ropes for my horses. I have at least a half dozen halters and leads for each of my 5 horses. A couple of them have at least a dozen. I see a halter that I think will look good on one of them and before I know it, it's hanging in front of their stall. lol

  14. Congrats.. we got two in the oven.. about to pop. They will wait for the coldest day of the year..

    bb

Keep us posted on your babies. Hubby says I can't breed my QH mares anymore because I've kept the babies. One will be 8 this spring and the other 5. Although I have been drooling over the pictures of Elans Playboy (stallion at the Babcock Ranch in TX) as a prospective mate for my youngest mare next year.

  15. Hi girl.

    Congrats on your new baby.

I was telling Frank that you had a new horse.

He is standing over my shoulder, says to say hi.

We just got back from the shelter. took some cat food and dog treats.

We left Meltid some brochures, we told her you could share some info about the vom also.

If you get the picture up I will show him.

He always tells me how pretty your horses are, Hope you are having a nice sunday.

Thanks, Laurie! I'm just getting over some kind of flu. Really nasty stuff that's been hanging on for a couple of weeks. I still need to deliver our dog food and treats to the shelter. I didn't want to go over there while I still had cooties. We're going to try to put together a fund raiser for the Pike County horses. They still need a lot of stuff not to mention feed.

    Tell Frank "hi" for me.

  16. I have been an equestrian coach for Cobb County since 1999. I believe that Paulding Co. competed for the first time at the state level last year and did very well. As a resident of Paulding County, I am torn when it comes to staying with Cobb and my current athletes or volunteering for my home county. I took 2 horses and 3 athletes to Perry last year for Cobb. This year I may be able to take up to 4 horses and 6 to 10 athletes depending on the number of "helpers" I can get.
