Can you tell me the proper way to do this? Do you mean work with her on the lead as far as the basic commands of stay and come- within the flags?

Thank you. I am leaning towards this option. I have been looking online and think this is my best option. I am going to work with her a lot. Already in three days she has improved drastically in all areas except the running off. I would rather her get a shock than run off or have to go to a shelter. I think she will be awesome with some work. I just took her for a ride to a friends house and she obeyed and was very social with everyone there. Thanks for all the advice. You guys rock!

I know about the breed. This is my second border collie. The first one we had for ten years. She recently passed away. She was raised from a puppy. We had no problems. This one has been taught very little and is already established some bad habits. I had mixed feelings about the shock collar. I just wanted some opinions. She is a cool dog, and I really want to make this work. Thanks.

Funny video. Yeah, we've thought of a fence. You'd have to see our place to understand the problem. She can run on 85 acres, but insists on going off the property to the adjoining property. It is wide open land with a lake, the perfect place for her if she would just stay away from those dang chickens. I thought the collar might help me train her to stay away from there. I am just trying to think of all my options. She is a really cool dog. I want to make this work.

I just rescued a 9 mth. Border Collie. She runs off and won't come back. We have many acres for her to run on, but she wants to go into the neighboring yards to see the chickens, if you know what I mean... I was wondering if a shock collar would work. I will NOT put her on a chain. I have been taking her out on a leash and working with her that way, but if I take that leash off she is gone.

Did you see her when she did the photo shoot? She looked so pretty when they covered up her tatoos. I am not crazy about all the tattoos on girls, but the artwork is just so cool!
