  1. We woke up to no water in the Menlow Station subdivision of Hiram. Has anyone heard about a water main break? Is anyone else in Hiram having the same problem or should we be panicking that our pipes are frozen?
  2. It seems that many have had good AND bad experiences with TMaaT. Glassdogs makes a very good point from their perspective, so that's kinda scary. Justgettingby, I always do that, too. (treating them nice) Not just because I want them to take care of my stuff, but just because they have have a hard job, and that can suck sometimes... so they deserve to be treated nice when they visit my home.
  3. Thanks... this is GREAT advice, very helpful!
  4. Have any of you had experience with any of the local moving companies? My family is going to move a short distance at the end of the month and we'd like to hire a company to move the furniture. We just bought a house so money is TIGHT. That said, we're not looking for a company that is going to beat up the furniture either. Any recommendations or companies we should avoid? Thanks!!
  5. This is something that drives me CRAZY! Why do parents want their little girls to dress like grown-ups??? They grow up far too fast as it is! My little girl will stay a little girl for as long as possible, thank you very much.
  6. I'm sorry but teaching our children to be accepting and helpful to other people's difficulties is NOT "coddling" anyone. Perhaps you would feel differently had you learned this lesson as a child. Furthermore, joining the problem of discrimination instead of taking action against it just makes the problem worse. Yes, it does happen everyday and has happened for centuries, but that doesn't make it any less wrong. In my eyes, NO ONE (especially not a child) is a "liability." I was so shocked that you would tell a parent that.
  7. The point is, that any public school HAS to do what is neccessary in order to provide a free and appropriate public education to that child. I don't know what the solution would be in this case, but it would be up to the student's parents, teachers, school administrators, school nurse, and doctors to figure it out if these parents wanted their child in the public school system. I have seen it happen many times where a solution seemed impossible, but because everyone was willing to collaborate for the benefit of the child, a solution was found. Why is it that everyone tries to think of a s
  8. I see your point, but realistically, a school would not place these children in the same class... and a case like this would be very rare. If students had special needs that conflict with one another, they would be placed in different classrooms.
  9. So much to say, I don't even know where to start. First, this child has access to a free and public education, not because her parents pay taxes but because that is part of the freedom of living in our great country. Imagine if the child was in a wheelchair and the other parents were complaining about ramps, etc. being installed and the student line having to walk a different way to the cafeteria or library so that the student can use those ramps. Second, I had a student last year that was severely allergic to peanuts also. He carried his epi pen with him everywhere he went. When our
  10. Awesome! Thanks for posting! I can't wait until my little one is old enough to join the Nebo Chorus!
  11. Have you tried to get a loan modification from your mortgage company?? If you file for one, they will put your mortgage on hold for a few months while they process it. You can take that money and channel it to pay off your CC debt. Then, hopefully, walk away with a lesser mortgage payment and very little credit card debt. Just a thought..
  12. My church watched this one... a variation on the same theme. These are both well done and really cute.
  13. Looks like their site is down... I haven't been able to get information on that yet. In addition, I found that Pump It Up has Pop-n-Play then, but that's not really something we can do "together."
  14. Gosh! I can't believe I am the only person that would have just let it go. I would have been irritated, and probably would have made a comment to the other people waiting in line with me... but other than that I would have just let it go and let the karma train get him.
  15. Yep, it's called Deceptively Delicious (or something like that)... the recipes are good and there are snack recipes, too. The only thing I don't like is that there is a lot of pre-prep required. But if you have time for it, it really does great. The only thing you have to be sure of is to still offer the real veggies. He's getting the nutrition from the hidden veggies but he still needs to have the message that eating vegetables is important for his health. Also, I wouldn't worry too much about the celery and peanut butter.. it's a good, healthy snack. You can also do apples and peanu
  16. This is why we're not going to the zoo (where we are members, so it wouldn't cost a thing except gas). Don't wanna depend on whether or not it's gonna rain...
  17. Whenever I am at a loss for ideas, you all seem to have the best ones. I have to work this weekend, trying to get some overtime, so Friday is the only day (on this weekend before Christmas) that I can really hang out and do some fun stuff with my little one. I am going to her party at school, and when it gets dark I think we'll drive over to Lights of Life. But that leaves about 3 hours in between (from about 3 to about 6)... Does anyone know of anything fun to do around town that doesn't cost a lot? I was thinking Sparkles but I looked at their site and I don't think they open until 4:
  18. Sweet Tomatoes on Barrett Pkwy is having a family night tomorrow night. Santa will be there for free pictures with your own camera. I saw it on their FB page.
  19. I just recently moved to a place that has laminate flooring in the living room and I came from carpet. Other than my daughter not liking to play or lay on the floor anymore (solved with a sleeping bag, hopefully.. she thinks it's cool for now anyway ) I hate that my furniture slides around. I got those pads that you put under the furniture to make it not slide, but they still slide somewhat, only now with the sticky pads it makes it harder to move back into place. I do like that it's easier to keep clean though, and I do think it looks nicer. So I'm still at an impass as to whether or not I
  20. I hope your boy feels better soon! I use drippings from the ham, a bit of orange or pineapple juice, and brown sugar. Mix together and heat until it just starts to thicken. As it cools, it will thicken more. Happy cooking!
  21. Separated last year, divorced PLUS no teaching contract this year, and just got the news that he is remarrying in the Spring. 2nd year of "survival mode" as you put it. I put on a happy face because no one wants to see an unhappy person in their oh-so-overly-happy time of year (excuse me while i vomit) , plus I have a little person that I want to create happy memories for and she is my top priority. I am trying my hardest to focus on Christ, as he is the REAL reason we celebrate... however, January 2nd can NOT come fast enough!!!
  22. In my experience, the one on Dallas is a better one to go to on Black Friday. They are pretty well-organized, and there are lots of people out on the floor pointing the way. Everyone else will be there starting at midnight for non-electronics... so about then sounds like a good time to get there and line up for electronics. Bring some other people with you, that way you can take turns shopping for all the other fabulous deals while you wait for electronics to open up. BTW, my fave site for seeing all the ads, etc is www.bfads.net Have fun and good luck!!
  23. Y'all are too funny! This whole thread had me cracking up... literally laughing out loud!
