  1. God Bless America. I will explain why.

My youngest child was born on the morning of the 5th of July. I could still smell gunpowder when I walked into the hospital at 3:30 AM. He's a very patriotic fellow. :)

He was born with a health problem. He became "sick" sooner than expected. I had to take him to CHA on an ER visit and we couldn't leave until after his surgery. His surgery was scheduled for 9-11-02 (the first anniversary of 9-11); but he got bumped another day because life flight brought in a trauma case who took his "spot". So, on 9-11-02, I sat in the hospital room rocking my 2 month old little boy while I watched all the 9-11 memorials on TV. When God Bless America was being sung, he pulled his head away from my chest and gave me the best smile I've ever seen. He loves that song to this day. Now it always makes me tear up.

  2. I "thought" my gallbladder needed to come out about 2 years ago. After an ultrasound, upper GI, endoscopy, and some other test that I can't recall the name of but hurt like hell because they injected me with a hormone and I had to lie still under an MRI machine for an hour even though I wanted to wretch.....

My answer was this: My gallbladder doesn't have stones. There were no "crystals" found in my small intestines which would indicate I would get stones later. A stomach biopsy showed I didn't have H pylori (sp?) even though my stomach lining was "inflamed". I have no ulcers.

Long and short it the "diagnosis" was that I have a sensitive stomach.

Feel better, Jabbers! I "almost" know what you're going through. ;)

  3. I'd ground her as a lesson. Have her write how she would handle this situation in the future and make her stick to it the next time something like this happens.

He he! Just this morning she was sifting through the hamper and I asked what she was looking for. She said her Carmex! I told her, Good thing to do before going all ape$hit on me and her siblings. :D

  4. First of all, I'm a vegetarian. The main reason for this is my disgust for the treatment of animals in the factory farming industry. Additionally, I don't need to eat animals to be healthy. You can if you want to, but don't expect me to.

Personally, a hunter killing his own food* bothers me less than a factory farm torturing millions of animals every day for their entire lives. With that said, my husband, who was a hunter and is still a meat eater, recently decided not to pursue hunting any longer. When I asked him why, he said he didn't feel a need to kill anything. Woo! (Keep in mind I still cook meals including meat for him, so it wasn't me nagging him.)

    Sorry for rambling.

*ETA: Unless it is an inhumane method such as leg traps or poison.

I agree with what you said. However, I am a meat eater. If given the choice to give up either bread or meat, I would give up bread. Then again, my blood type is O. From what I have read, O is the oldest blood type an have always been meat eaters; I also read that people with the blood type A are better suited to do without meat. BTW, My entire family is A, I was the only O.

To the OP. Have you ever had a deer run into your car? Well, it costs money. If a buck runs into your car and hits in just the right place, someone could die.

I used to think like you do. Not so much anymore.

  5. She does look for Gus sometimes. :( But she has this little stuffed squeaky dog that Sooch gave her and she is really attached to it, I think she thinks it's one of her pups. When you squeeze it, she will come over and take it from your hand and take it and hide it.

She is Pcom's dog, that's for sure. We needed a mascot, other than TBAR, anyhow

    Where is Gus?
