  1. I believe it's absolutely possible. I have never discounted anything like that happening.
  2. We aren't rich by any stretch of the imagination, but I do have a story about judging a book by it's cover. Hubby was at work in his Georgia Power shirt and jeans and it was around Christmas time. He mostly works in Buckhead, so he went into Phipps Plaza to look for a nice silk gown for me. He was at some lingerie store, found what he wanted and was looking for the correct size, when a snoot of a saleswoman came over to him, removed the gown from his hand, hung it back on the rack and said, 'Sir, do you realize how much this costs'? He calmly said, 'Yes, I do realize how much it is and I also
  3. I used to be that way too, but as I've gotten older, if the 'house' thing makes my life easier, I'm all for it! The dishwasher we had didn't clean ANYTHING!!! You'd have to literally wash everything with soap and a brush before you put it in and then they would still come out dirty. WTH!!?? The new one is WONDERFUL!! I keep pushing the limits with what I'll put in it. Yesterday was a peanut butter spoon, a spoon with dried mac and cheese on it and a mixing bowl that was unrinsed and put straight into the DW. It all came spotlessly clean. I LOVE MY DW!!!!!!
  4. We seem to get more practical too. I got a dishwasher and I swear I couldn't be happier.
  5. We always do cash only and I think this year we spent less than usual. But it seems that as we get older, our list is whittled down a little more from the year before.
  6. TOOOO cute, but you might want to be careful and not fall asleep in front of him for a few days, you may end up in that costume!!
  7. I went to Nash and graduated from Wills in 1982, hubby graduated in 1980 from Wills too. We both worked at JCPenney outlet in Belmont Hills shopping center and ate at Pizza Hut in the parking lot at least once a week. Loved Montereys too.
  8. We were at Walmart on Friday and there was a family, a dad, a Mom holding a little baby and one or two other kids with a sign asking for help. They were at the round about.
  9. I know what you mean and you're right! Merry Christmas to you and yours, it will be perfect because y'all are together.
  10. That's what I thought too, but when the OP mentioned face piercings, I eliminated her. But maybe she's changing her MO.
  11. So because it wasn't available when you were young, it shouldn't be available now? There were probably no child labor laws like there now either, are those a bad idea too?
  12. You always make me laugh, THANK YOU!
  13. That is EXACTLY what my daughter said!! Great minds you know!!
  14. What was this woman thinking! http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/21/us/sacco-offensive-tweet/
  15. I know, I'm going to finish my baking now. The last 9 loaves of banana bread are in the oven and there's 4 batches of biscotti to be bagged and labeled for Hubbys work tomorrow. Better things to do!!!!!
  16. What are you talking about? And where did I say I didn't like you, show me please? I meant to give you a positive!
  17. Hubby was at a station on North Ave a few months ago getting gas and a young girl walked up and told him that she needed gas to get to a job interview and didn't have the any money, would he please get her $5.00 worth. She didn't ask for money and I was shocked when he told me he got her $10.00 in gas simply because she hadn't asked for cash and she seemed straight forward. Hopefully she got the job. And for the OP, I would have said no. A lady with a very similar description approached me at Town Center not too long ago with the same story. Sorry lady.
  18. You're absolutely right, but that has nothing to do with this topic. My question too. Teaching kids responsibility and making them clean up after themselves has nothing to do with working for your lunch because your parents signed you up for this program.
  19. How on earth could a woman be married to a man that would think something like that, much less say that he wants to implement it????? If he has kids and grandkids, they should all gang up on him and beat him to a bloody pulp. I would be soooo ashamed!!!! But I'm sure they think the sun rises and sets on his ignorant, mean a$$. Ain't politics grand?????
  20. I'm not sure I'd go along with that either, but you can bet that if that is what he'd said, it would have gone in one and out the other, not staying long enough for it to raise my BP. But to say that about a kid? NO WAAAY!!!
  21. Absolutely, right after me. Indeed, to think it is one thing. To put it to paper and propose it is a whole different ballgame.
  22. Indeed! Sam came to the hospital when my sister passed and since it was so sudden, we could barely function. I remember his demeanor and compassion and I'll always be thankful for his presence and explanations that day. Good luck Sam and to Metro too!
