LPPT
Everyone that attended this meeting and hoped to learn something should remember one important thing. You heard one side of the story. And only what the folks with either an axe to grind or had a political agenda wanted you to hear... I know some have gone for answers, answers that commissioners and board members of the AA and IBA should have answered in a similar type of setting. People needed to speak up publicly and stand behind what they believed a while back. Not doing it was probably the single most negative thing ever. I know it is hard, I will never forget the Toll road meeting and how scared I was after coming out in support of it. It needed to be done in this circumstance. This is not going to turn out well and I hate it. Whats done is done.
lowrider
I am still for the airport being a success, and I was for the toll road. I want progress and jobs. But it has to be done the right way. The way it was done is called collusion and collusion is illegal. Proving it is hard

toxic
This group no longer wants answers. They already have them. They just don't like the answers or the facts. They held a meeting to vent and bitch. Nobody is on the take, no collusion, no secret deals, no pockets being lined (except the Paulding 6 and some of their groupies maybe). What proof do I have??? The same amount of proof this group has in reverse... They (and Delta) don't like the project, period. So somebody has to be blamed for their lot in life. Simple as that. If you can't expand this airport as sparsely populated as it is within three miles in any direction, then you can't build one ANYWHERE.

If you can't expand this airport as sparsely populated as it is within three miles in any direction, then you can't build one ANYWHERE. I agree that I have not seen a shred of proof that anyone is personally profiting. It is very difficult to support those trying to make the airport a success when they have not opened up to the public. I don't care if the handful severely impacted don't have a pot to pi$$ in. They deserve to be fairly compensated for relocation. I have yet to speak to anyone that does not agree with that. When the article came out and it said we expect very little opposition except for a few that don't count, how do you think most people took that? And everything that has followed has been in line with that statement. Nobody has the resources to fight for themselves when a government entity has a bottomless pit of taxpayer money to fight them. It is naturally concerning to everyone in this community. The airport can and should be a success. The lack of a success is not due to a lack of Propeller or similar companies looking to invest and that is all I will say on that matter.
rockster
I tuned in late. What collusion are you referring to? Will the video be posted for replay? I am certain the video will be played on FB unedited. I would not call this collusion in my opinion. I believe things have been done within the BOC, IBA, PCAA that they knew they were walking a very thin line in legalities of their actions. You have to give credit to the folks that called fowl when the news came out about commercializing the airport. They had to resort to legal action to get answers, and it's turning in to alot of stuff coming out of the woodwork.

Does it upset you to know that Blake gets paid two checks from our county? It does me, considering our police officers are here to protect us and they have to work two jobs because our county can't pay them a decent salary.

And move forward. That's the moral and fair thing to do, but morals and fair have no place in politics. All is good as long as it's not in your back yard, right? Well, it's not in my back yard, but I don't like how it was done. I don't like anything at all about it. I'm just as guilty as the next person not keeping up with my local politics, but what is right is right and there was nothing right about the way this was handled. WHITEY
It seems you never have anything nice to say especially when someone else really reaches out to be nice then you've got an attack, put down or snide remark to add. Let me be clear... I am in favor of job creation at the airport and anywhere else in Paulding County. I especially wish to learn now Commercial Air Service can be a positive thing for our community. I want to hear how WE can reassure our neighbors WE will support them. I have an idea... Let's meet so you can share the positive aspects of Commercial Air Service to me. You name the time, place and attendees. One suggestion on place and attendees is Chairman Austin has said his door is open, I'm ready to meet, the only missing link is you. What a grand idea, David's door is always open, Can I film this meeting?

You missed hearing that Todd was NOT invited to a 2 day meeting in Douglasville at the Douglasville conference / meeting facility (because this same STOP ALL PROGRESS IN PAULDING GROUP is also against Paulding having such a facility)and later hearing Todd SAY if he had been there he would have ran back and told everyone what was discussed. Oh yeah you also missed finding out that Blake Swafford lives in Cobb COunty... Well now that was certainly worth over 2 hours of our lives we will never get back! I came away with some questions I will be researching. Maybe you can direct me in the right direction. Just to start... I actually have 40+ questions, here are those dozen or so questions at the top of my list. A study was quoted stating it would take about $2.8 + Billion to convert our airport from General Avàtion to Commercial. • Who is AMACS? • Do they have credibility? • Are there other study's available? Six Mile Poison Ring was mentioned. • Who did this study? • Are there study's to refute or confirm this study? Potential Impact Approach Zone is shown on the handout? • 4 rings show up in an oval shape, what are they? • What is the gray shaded area on the right? • Is Mary & Bob's home in this shaded area? The 2 day retreat was mentioned. • Did I hear the contractors & engineers were at this meeting? • Did I see "Sunshine Law" within an email shown on the screen? • Did I hear there are attachments showing the terminal layout after renovation? The handout states 3,000 to 20,000 jobs by 2020 have been promised. • How many actual jobs are forecast? I will be talking to my Post Commissioner in an effort to qualify or refute each bullet point on the handout. For me this was time well spent preparing me to be a better informed voter for years to come. I am open to sit down with anyone to respectfully discuss each item listed on the handout. I especially enjoyed meeting people who recently just found out we have an airport, 1 a long lost friend that I had no idea lives within a mile of the runway. Meeting new people and respectfully discussing local, state, federal and world wide issues makes me happy.

Not being open, Honest and transparent was what caused the vacuum, This is a PR night mare that is out of control. I know were I am coming from. I want that airport to generate money instead of eating it. I have no issue with us entering into public/private partnership to make it happen. It just seems to me the process should be much smoother than what we have now. I don't even object to the money being spent to bring it up to where it needs to be. Our commissioners had no choice but to find a way to make it pay. They did not start this project. They desperately need the tax revenue that can come from it. In taking this project on and trying to make it pay, to quote Mr. Carmicheal "We are not doing anything wrong" There has been zero proof that any of them or anyone on those boards will directly benefit from that airport. Your group is welcome to believe that they will replace people on that commission and gain control of what does and does not happen at that airport and you are wrong. That airport can only go forward and it will take cash to do so. I think some of the bumps in the road were avoidable and that has me questioning the lack of success in the past. I am not on the anti airport side. It is ours, we own it, we make it the best that it can be.

Y'all better look-out. He's playing with our tax dollars and we are fed-up. <br /> <br />The meeting brought many facts to the table that have been hidden from the public. Thanks for all the hard work you guy's have been doing. Bravo!!!! <img src='http://paulding.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<img src='http://paulding.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />' /> Check your post BEFORE you post and remove all the brackets...They are NOT working right now... LPPT
CPR confirms, the information in the presentation was factual. He can't dispute the facts so he attacks the presentation and the presenters. There are MANY people that don't know the make up of the IBA and the Airport Authority, that the same 6 people with their counsel sit on both boards. They also didn't realize Blake Swafford gets TWO paychecks. When people begin to get involved you have to start at point A, not somewhere in the middle as some want you to. You are supposed to ignore the fact that there is and has been a rather incestuous relationship between the IBA and the AA, that needs to change. See that's how they want you to think, it's a slight of hand, watch THIS, not THAT!! I don't have a problem with the same people on both boards. The intent up until recently has been to manufacturing, maintenance, and repair to the airport. One needs to know what the other is doing. These are volunteer positions. You can't fire volunteers for mistakes. I can tell you that I am very concerned about rubber stamping going on with both boards. I was told that the FAA said that we didn't need environmental studies expand the airport. Did the FAA lie to the AA board? Because of that issue our airport has been left virtually inoperable. Meaning that the small companies out there are losing money due to things beyond their control. These are people with families to feed that signed on in good faith with our airport. That is not a glitch it is a big mistake. It is a very costly mistake. I have no issue with elected officials sitting on both boards because they in truth seem to be the only ones that can be held accountable.

If you do your own research and have your own back up documentation, you don't have to rely on just "some" of the information. I have learned more about the goings on in the county that I ever wanted to know. Yes they have done us a favor by not telling us ANYTHING, leaving us to HAVE to do our own research. Open records requests don't lie, plain and simple.

cookies are sweet
Hey Skippy. Still working on the answers? Inquiring minds want to know.
lowrider
I was reading this in the other topic. They're going to spend my tax dollars however they want and then deny my free speech? If you're not outraged, then you're not paying attention. "This month the authority set a policy that allows public comment but requires residents to apply in advance to speak, and reserves the right to decline if the topic is not deemed pertinent."
GeorgiaTornado
I've asked VALID questions...and still have no answers. All some of you want to say is....well they have successful businesses here in Paulding. 1. Who on any of the boards making decisions have managed or converted a municiple airport to a commercial airport? Who has the experience in Aeronautics to be making these decisions? 2. What highways do you think will be direct access from the airport to the Interstates to ship products via ground transportation? How close are these said roadways to major interstates? 3. Where is the Aeronautical business plan for this airport? Edited February 28, 2014 by GeorgiaTornado
mojo413
NO! NO! NO! For ONCE tell the TRUTH K.V. Steven Lang came on here and OFFERED to put together a meeting JUST LIKE YOU DESCRIBE with one exception, that you and the rest of THE STOP ALL PROGRESS IN PAULDING group couldn't live with...He was going to do it at a NEUTRAL site (not in a church where ya'll have even got the pastor praying to GOD to bring down the Airport! He was also going to MODERATE it like a NORMAL open style forum with questions and answers...this is NOT what your group wants. They want David,Blake and others on a stage with a microphone passed among the audience so your group can sit out the in their blue shirts and scream, boo, hiss and make snide comments every time they say a word! Well I don't blame them for not doing a meeting like that! Why not revisit the opportunity to actually have the OPEN meeting you claim to want? FACT!!! A HUGE difference in being lied to and just not being invited to sit at the table as the preliminary deal was being crafted and YOUR tax dollars are not being TAKEN, they are being invested in the FUTURE OF PAULDING COUNTY with an Airport the MAJORITY of PAULDING COUNTY wants! I am missing something here. In my simple mind I do not understand why those supporting the airport conversion to Commercial Air Service can not conduct public meetings to show and explain the advantages we will gain from this conversion. How in the world can the group that put on last nights meeting dictate to those on the pro airport side how they should conduct a pro airport meeting?
Concerned Pldg Resident
I was reading this in the other topic. They're going to spend my tax dollars however they want and then deny my free speech? If you're not outraged, then you're not paying attention. "This month the authority set a policy that allows public comment but requires residents to apply in advance to speak, and reserves the right to decline if the topic is not deemed pertinent." They had to word it like that BECAUSE of the STOP ALL PROGRESS IN PAULDING group...we have to remember these Board Meetings are WORK sessions. They have to be sure if someone wants to speak at an AA meeting the topic is about AA business and if they want to speak at a BOC meeting it is about the CURRENT business matters. No one is being denied ANYTHING, just being asked to stay on point.
