See what we have been workinng on !

Recommended Posts

First off we apologize for being sporadic at best in our postings the last two weeks. We are trying to get everything at the store spic and span, with a facelift and fresh coat of paint in order to kickoff our relaunching on April 28th.

I personally have been living at the store (2 days off in the last 16 :p ) on a 9 foot ladder, with paintbrush in hand. We love the changes, and have had extremely positive feedback from our wonderful customers.

I'm going to post several before and after photos, just to give you an idea of the work that has been done. We haven't completely finished yet, but the hardest part is done. It's 'cake' and finishing touches from here.

Massive, HUGE thanks to everyone for being patient with us while we make these changes, for shopping around my ladder, for the helping hands...too many people here to even mention for fear of leaving someone out. You know who you are and we love you dearly, and we sincerely meant that. We could not have done this without your encouragement and continued support.

Rhonda (and Britaini)

Looks wonderful wife and I will have to try to get by there.

I'm still hunting a complete first edition on a set of books that was published by a university in a limited run.

I was looking at your photos and didn't see any ebooks on them shelves.

Kidding aside, was reading where publishing companies are thinking about putting a "wear out" clause in their ebooks.

Saying each ebook will be limited to sharing to 3 devices, one you download to, along with two others, and each share will only good for a limited number of reads.

Wow! I had not heard about that. I wonder how they would 'expire' your ebook? I know I have the kindle fire and I understand how Amazon could pull from your device, but I'm not sure about the Nook. I also have a Sony eReader and it's not possible for Sony to access that unless I wanted them too. Very interesting :). I love my eReaders, but for me at least they are in NO way a replacement for physical books. I also utilize Audible.com for audiobooks that I listen to while I paint. I figure any delivery system for getting words into my brain is good for me, lol. I use and appreciate them all.

I hope you guys can drop in soon!!!!

This is just scuttlebutt for now about that, but very believable with the way media is these days,. I've come across a few different sources now reporting publishers interest in this, so I'm leaning towards it being believable. I'm assuming the files would be DRM'd with a counter/timebomb, they tried the same with MP3's during the Napster days. Makes sense really. Digital files don't wear out like normal items would, but for the me the getcha would be the sharing limitation. We upgrade so often these days files like that would be locked real fast sharing them to the new things.

But I also like owning the real book, and I think enough folks still do these days.

Wife saw the pics, she says it looks great!!!

Tell her 'Thank You' as well :) .

I agree, it does make sense. I'm with you though... Brit and I could open a bookstore just with the books we have here at home. Technology will NEVER replace the physical book. Not for true bibliophiles anyway :) .

It really is a wonderful change, I love it! You did a great job Rhonda

 Thank you, Skinny Minnie ;) . One word for you... podcast, lol.

You are always so supportive and encouraging. We love you!

Looks amazing! Can't wait to come by and meet you guys, been meaning to for awhile now. :)

:yahoo: Please do! The one day you can catch both Britaini and myself in the store is Tuesday :) . We work together on that day with regularity . We would LOVE to meet you!

It looks great and inviting.

Doesn't it feel wonderful to see the results after working so hard on something you love to do ?

That is one of my favorite feelings.

Yes it does! I LOVE to paint, it's very meditative for me. But honestly I was SO ready to be finished with this. Not because I didn't love the whole process, simply because I was so anxious to see it finished :) . I feel really proud of it when I walk into the store and it just feels so peaceful. I love it! The bookstore has always been one of my favorite places, but now even more than before. We aren't completely finished yet. But at least I know the major part is completed and we will be ready for April 28th :) .
