I would love the chance to talk with any of you about my campaign and what I stand for. I assure you that I am not a Democrat as you know them today. I am as mad with President Obama right now as anyone out there. Please email me, PM me, or give me a call.

Not that it matters but I will be voting in the July election; however, I SURE AS HECK will not be voting in this poll.

You obviously don't know or understand anything about Steve Golden. He claims to be a christian but I have serious reservations about that. Have you ever met someone who would sale their grandma a roc

Why the HECK not?

I have issues with were the money to run his campaign comes from because I would like to know that the people of Pauding are supporting this candidate. After all that is where the people he will be representing live, isn't it? I think he is a Banker and I did not know his office was at the Capital Building as stated by another poster. I want my Representative to have knowledge of more than one issue and to have his/her focus on more than one issue. We need Jobs and a better economy among other things in Paulding. How is he going to try and address those issues and others that impact us so much? Are his concerns and interests in Paulding County and with the residents in Paulding or is his community involvement and interests placed in Cobb and other Counties? Yes, I do think it is relevent to this election.rolleyes.gif

I'm not taking sides in this but to set the issue straight, Daniel Stout has joined the ranks of the entrepreneur, having resigned from his bank job in Smyrna. He is now conducting a small business consultancy out of his home in Paulding. This is in the latest news program on PcomTV. I've included an embed of the program. You'll want to scroll toward the end of the show for the political segments.

Actually, if you move the player marker (bottom center of the player) to about 17:14 you'll be at the Daniel Stout piece. I may take a moment or two for the video to begin playing the news before you will see the time slider bar.

I have heard that you are a good guy. There are a lot of Democrats sitting in the US Senate and in the US House of Representatives who ran to the right of their Republican opponents. They were elected and voted with Obama when it came time. We now have a Health Care program we can't pay for and the Democrats in Congress are about to vote another big tax increase we can't pay for. They are bankrupting this country and killing jobs in my opinion. I can't go there. Too bad you did not sign on to run as an Independent or Libertarian. I trust all of them more than the Democrat Party which has been hi-jacked by the Socialists.

The Georgia Democratic party at the ground level does not seem to be following the same path as the national level. I think that most of us realize (or atleast I do) that we are elected to represent the people that elected us, and the majority of people are not right or left, but just to either side of the center. When representatives vote, they should not vote on their own behalf, the behalf of their party, or along with the representative friend in the seat next to them, but voting should occur on behalf of the people back in the district. This is something that I will stand firmly by in all circumstances. I would welcome the opportunity to talk with you, weather it could do anything to convince you to vote for me or not. I want to learn what people are thinking, and the best way to do that is to have personal real conversations with people.

Pubby, the insult was the selling of his grandma's rocking chair by Mr. Golden, if I read this correctly.

Winchester, do I know you? Does Lake Swan ring a bell?

Not sure. You talking about Lake Swan on Nebo Rd? I've been in there a few times but never did any business there.

could it be both?

RTL has no current legal "standing" as a Legislative issue. Until the Supreme Court overturns Roe v Wade, any state level legislation would be moot.

The 2nd part of any such legislation, restricting "The A Word" would then also have to include and/or restrict availability of Birth Control Pills.

This is not the responsibility of government.

It is a waste of legislative time, energy and effort.

My frustration with Mr. Stout is not about what happened when he was 19.

I have similar views to the person you were responding to, and my point is that he isn't truly vested in Paulding County. His only involvment with Paulding prior to running for the 19th district seat was the RTL.

I understand your concerns but if you would take the time to meet and talk with Daniel and to take a look at how well he has already represented our county you may be pleasantly surprised at how much he truly cares about Paulding County and its citizens. He has a lot to offer a lot of fresh new ideas. I truly hope everyone will give him a chance and at least hear what he has to say. Sometimes a fresh perspective on things is exactly what is needed instead of the "same ole, same ole". If we are going to be a progressive community and be willing to get rid of the "good old boy" system we have had for years, then we should only commend someone who moves here to begin a new life and wants to serve his community. Paulding County is facing many critical issues and it is definitely time for new faces and a fresh start. Knowing Daniel Stout and actually hearing what he has to say and seeing what he has done so far has convinced me he is truly vested in Paulding County.

What I see that he has done so far is miss some critical votes during his short term.

You can go there if you want too. I have met all candidate except Avery and I won't go with Stout!

He missed ONE DAY of his term as the bank he was FORMERLY employed by required that he be there for an important audit. It was an absence excused by the Speaker of the House. He did vote against a huge tax increase in spite of enormous pressure from other politicians because that is what the citizens of Paulding wanted him to do. He also was a part of a new water and transportation plan. If you would like to see his entire voting record, go to electdanielstout.com. You may be pleasantly surprised.

I went to Steve Golden's event last night was came away very impressed. The one thing that bothers me about Stout, besides the whole mother in law thing, is that he only lives in Paulding. Does not work or attend church services here. As far as I know, his child does not attend Paulding County schools. I don't like that at all. I hope to get to Paulette Braddock's event to meet her also.

I can now say that I have met in one capacity or the other, Golden, Stout and Braddock. Stout seemed naive and someone who was just trying to play at being a politician. Golden is a nice man but sort of seemed like more of the same or a continuation of part of the problems here, since he's a builder and buddies with all the old network folks. I got a lot of info and concrete ideas from Braddock for the county. She seems like she's really interested in helping the county and the people. I think she seemed more sincere, but I don't know yet. I think they all have public forums coming up. I will probably go again to see Golden and Braddock. I forgot when the next Golden event is but Braddock is holding a breakfast thing in Dallas on 6/12, I think. Does anyone know the campaign website for Braddock? Someone said she had a BBQ thing going too, but I don't know details.

I guess we will see if your theory holds true for the voters in Paulding County. I have an idea it won't. I don't trust the Democrat Party and if you are a member I can't give you my vote. The things you are saying now is what got enough Democrats in power to put America on a path to Socialism. They did not vote with the people when they got elected. they voted with their PARTY. The people supporting you support Obama too. That says a whole lot to me. I hope the election in November will begin to turn that back and correct that mistake. I would never be fooled into putting more of them in positions of power. I guess that would have to include you.

No, the Democratic Party of Georgia does not require an oath of loyalty, the Republican party does however, hence why the one Governor candidate is now trying to run as an independent. He would not sign the oath

NewsJunky:

Ever since Will Rogers - the comedian/philosopher of the 1930s - said he was not a member of any organized political party, he was a Democrat - the independence of Democrats has been generally conceded.

Indeed, if you look at most so-called party line votes even in the polarized atmosphere of Congress, you'll see a least a handful of Democrats voting with Republicans. The healthcare vote to close debate in the Senate - the cloture vote - is one of the few examples I can recall where all Democrats were on board on one side of an issue. As a general rule, one of the endearing aspects of 'democrats' is that they don't have much 'party discipline' ... Indeed, that is why Democrats as a rule don't have a rule that you have to sign any kind of party loyalty oath. The party never has had that kind of power or control over its elected representatives. Each candidate, for the most part, is his own 'party' if you get down to the nubbins.

That does not help his case here Pubby. dry.gif

I would like you to know, NewsJunky, that I posted the piece not to help or hurt his case, but simply to clarify the record as it seemed to be muddied by old, obsolete information.

i voted NO on the SPLOST. (the local government and school system throws money out the window, why agree to give them more?)

I voted AGAINST Paulette Braddock (she got booted off the school board...wonder why?)

I also voted against Beverly Cochran (her past association with Jerry Shearin makes me suspicious of her)

I don't know the District Attorney, Post 3 or Post 4 opponents, however Mr. Pownall for Post 2 seems like a great choice. Mr. Gregory has good credentials too.

Leave it to a person who calls himself JR Ewing to bash the only 2 women running for anything, who simply by virtue of their gender, cannnot and have not, been part of the typical "good old BOY" network. Shame on you.

I didn't see his post as bashing women. I see it as not wanting the good ole boy network representing Paulding and NOT wanting tax increases. There are a lot of people who remember both of those very well and they don't want anything to do with higher taxes or back scratching.

Best I can tell, Stout has one foot in and one foot out of Paulding and is sort of a one issue candidate. Seems focused mostly on the right to life issue. Also,is he still a banker? Heard he quit his job. What has Golden done for Paulding in the past? I know he is a developer and builder but does anyone know with PERSONAL knowledge,if he has been part of the "good ole boy network" that got us where we are here? I'm just curious. Also, Braddock owns a business? Is it related to building or banking? What is her business? Did she inherit it? We need someone who knows how to get jobs back here, who will not serve his or her own personal business interests. I'd like some answers from candidates on these questions.

Thank you for that Pubby! It was new information as far as I was concerned. I did not know that he had quit his job at the Bank.

If Randy Evans has his facts straight the Democrats came up with declaration or oath in the Georgia Legislature. They may have done away with it now. I will look it up when I get time.

So not requiring a candidate to take a loyalty to oath to the party rather than people makes the Democratic Party more messed? I don't see the logic in that. unknw.gif

Will:

Yep, the lack of consistency - freedom of the individual - conformity to the party - brings old Ralph Waldo Emerson to mind:

Here is Emerson’s famous passage on consistency, hobgoblins and little minds, in context:

But why should you keep your head over your shoulder? Why drag about this corpse of your memory, lest you contradict somewhat you have stated in this or that public place? Suppose you should contradict yourself; what then? It seems to be a rule of wisdom never to rely on your memory alone, scarcely even in acts of pure memory, but to bring the past for judgment into the thousand-eyed present, and live ever in a new day. In your metaphysics you have denied personality to the Deity: yet when the devout motions of the soul come, yield to them heart and life, though they should clothe God with shape and color. Leave your theory, as Joseph his coat in the hand of the harlot, and flee.

A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines. With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do. He may as well concern himself with his shadow on the wall. Speak what you think now in hard words, and to-morrow speak what to-morrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict every thing you said to-day. — ‘Ah, so you shall be sure to be misunderstood.’ — Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood.

He wasn't there long enough to get a voting record!!!rolleyes.gif

No, there is a voting record of what he voted on in his short stay. You do know who I am supporting but just stating some facts on that.

Will:

Yep, the lack of consistency - freedom of the individual - conformity to the party - brings old Ralph Waldo Emerson to mind:

Here is Emerson’s famous passage on consistency, hobgoblins and little minds, in context:

Still say he has no record to stand on. If I were a temporary House member I would do the popular thing with the folks in the 19th and it would not be enough for any voter to base their July vote on. Not enough time in office to have a record, sorry if that does not jive with your view PT.

But that would also pertain to any candidate who has or will run in a special election.

I have seen his voting record along with his reasons for voting the way he did.

You know I am supporting Paulette but that doesn't mean I cannot say that Daniel didn't do what he said he was going to do. Yes, he missed some important legislation but he does have a record, regardless.

"If" he lives in Paulding, why would his child go to a school in a different county????? :unknw:

added: They probably go to private school anyway, I didn't think of that before I posted. :pardon:

I think primary custody of his daughter is with his ex-wife.
