There is a difference of religious and civil. One is in a church, all marriages are civil whether or not they by ceremony or not. Every job I have ever taken has been KSA&C .... Knowledge, Skills, Aptitude and Conditions. Got to know what you are to do, what is needed to do the job, the ability to do the job and under what conditions the job requires .... which would include the hours (and overtime if necessary, working weekends when needed) and what laws need to be adhered to. Don't know why a GOVERNMENT JOB would need a "protection". You quoted this situation, I thought you might actually have something that states this "wrong". There is only a double standard where you feel you are not getting the same. She has only been released due to deputies in the department issuing licenses. If she interferes, she is back in jail on contempt of court again. Nothing about her ability to prove she is in the right, she can and will be held again if the license issuance isn't in compliance. FYI - Hobby Lobby is privately owned and their argument was as same. Nothing to do with a government position.

If Gov Beshear does that for her, then the removal of all county clerks who hold the same position should also be removed. and I think this is a grasping at straws for her to retain her job ..... I don't believe this was the intent of the law at all.

She is not in jail for her beliefs but for not complying with the law and is in contempt of court. She can have her beliefs all she wants as long as she is complying with the law. and where is this "article" on the judge who broke a law to perform weddings?

She wasn't arrested for a crime. She was jailed for contempt of court.
