  1. Nice job!! She sure shines!! But how are you going to see out the windshield??
  2. Yes, the entrance is on Goldmine Road. Here's a map to the location. If you're going out there, you will walk about 3/4 of a mile and see a big pile of dead trees. The trail is off to the left and goes up the big hill (turns back to the right at the top), when you get to the top just stay on the trail and it will bring you to the lake. http://www.satelliteviews.net/cgi-bin/g.cgi?fid=314678&state=GA&ftype=reservoir
  3. Yep, the Bradford Pears, they are very pretty. Tomorrow they will be brown.
  4. Yes, RaceGirl is right. Yellow bells are relatively easy to root. http://www.aboutforsythia.com/rooting_forsythia.shtml
  5. The Redbuds are not blooming, those with the red flowers are actually red maples. The big pink flowers are indeed a hybrid magnolia, known in the South as a Tulip Tree. Though it shouldn't be confused with a Tulip Poplar. Those have yellow flowers with a green vein, they bloom a little later, around the first of April. Peach trees are also blooming. The Redbud trees usually bloom around the same time as the crab apples. The blooms on a Redbud are actually purple, go figure.
  6. Of course we had to park outside the gate and walk all the way down but I'm glad we went today. No bugs, no snakes. It was a little muddy but my boots are drying now. I got some pics on my phone but will have to get them a little later. Time to think about supper.
  7. Just got back, I'm thinking we really messed up somewhere cause that was a very lonnnngggggg mile. I guess we missed the trail head and ended up walking in from the Southwest side of the lake. We passed the first little branch and thought about following it because we knew it would take us to the lake but we kept going straight looking for the trail, we never found it. LOL Ended up following a different branch that eventually took us to the lake. We came out on the trail, took about a hour and a half to get there but only about 30 minutes to get out. The mountain like to have killed me.
  8. One of our scout dads took us over there. The story he told was that they hid the horses along with some confederate troops when they marched through Dallas and New Hope. There is a small creek down a steep embankment (on both sides) and they were supposed to be undetectable. We literally had to use a rope tied to a tree to navigate down the embankment. Once we got down there it was absolutely beautiful. I believe it was around this time of year we went, perhaps a little later. I remember the violets were blooming, there were several different kinds. I could totally see how it coul
  9. OK so the entrance for the mile hike is at the WMA on Goldmine Rd?? Just want to be sure I go in the right way. Does anybody have any GPS coordinates??
  10. Does anyone know how to get to the area off Buchanan Hwy where they hid the horses during the civil war?? I was there once, a very long time ago. Not sure I could find my way back in, I think it's also part of the WMA. It was so beautiful and pristine there, I think we were some of the first humans in quite a while to venture that way. We were with the cub scouts.
  11. Can someone tell me how to get to the mile hike?? I'd love to go but don't know if I can survive 3 miles just yet. It's been a while. LOL Where do you enter for the mile?? From the airport or Goldmine Road??
  12. I'm glad they are trying to get rid of this ridiculous requirement. Since when is it better to have mercury in your house and landfills than to be a watt watcher?? I don't like CFLs, they even make your skin look wierd. LOL I hope everyone realizes this "requirement" put another business out...............the last facility that made incandescent bulbs in the US closed last year, those jobs are now in China. Good move idiots!! My link
  13. Sorry y'all I just got the email.............................gotta go help the scouts. I jumped the gun on this one.
  14. Pssst, JTH, google GA HB 385.............it has nothing to do with scouts.
  15. You continue to amaze me!! You have so much talent!!
  16. Let's make it a girl's night. MrsB when is that baby due??
  17. Can't wait, it's definitely on my list to go see. I haven't been to the movies in 10 years, but this one I'll pay to see.
  18. Hooooooo Haaaaaa!! Oh, wait.......that's your name..................Good job Brandon!! Go find a cure for hear disease, or cancer, or what ever you desire!! You have a proud mama and a proud community!!!
  19. I love them too, they're great folks and do a lot for the community. We buy almost all our stuff from them.
  20. GB, the reason the US is in trouble is because we have lived beyond our means. No amount of education can repay the interest on the debt let alone the principle. Funny, our grandparents did just fine without credit cards and student loans. Yea, I have credit cards......as a business owner I have no choice but any and all expenditures are paid off every month. There is always a chance something may happen that will prevent me from paying that balance, I shudder to think I might have to make payments and let interest accrue.
  21. Got home about 6:30, no power here. It just came back on.
  22. You are OK though right?? House is still standing?? If you ever need somewhere safe to go, we're not that far and we have a nice dry basement. Slept down there many an night. LOL
  23. I'm not at home, still at the office in Dallas.
  24. I don't think the stuff in Breman is going to come this way. What's up in Cedartown might get us but it looks like just rain and lightening, no wind. I can handle the storm, just not tornadoes.
