  1. I have tried a few of the greek yogurts - Love FAGE plain and I add my own fruit or granola. If you are looking for a sugary product - this is not it.
  2. Thanks for that link. I didn't realize I would have to use a commercial kitchen.
  3. I am considering selling home make jams and preserves - does anyone know how I would find out what regulations or requirements I would have to follow?
  4. I went to the Farmer's Market in Forest Park and bought some strawberries (along with bunches of other things to can). I found a recipe for strawberry jalapeno jam, which sounded interesting with the hot and sweet aspect. I grilled chicken and spread the jam on while it was on the grill - THIS IS THE BEST STUFF. If you have never had it and like a little heat and sweet, you must try it. I found the recipe on Allrecipes.com. My link What ideas would you have for using this jam?
  5. We moved here from Louisiana in 1988 and have not been disappointed in living here. We feel almost like natives now, we have seen so much change and growth. It's been a great experience seeing a small place become a force to be reckoned with. Small place, not too small. Still country feel, not too far away from anything you want to see.
  6. Popeye's is some of the best fried chicken, can't wait. Love that chicken from Popeye's!!
  7. I left my donation out for the carrier, but it was not picked up.
  8. I can't wait to taste it myself. This recipe is a little work, but I hope its worth it. Here is the recipe. Lemon Angel Pie 4 eggs, separated 1 cup sugar 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar 1/2 cup sugar 3 Tbsp. lemon juice 1 Tbsp. grated lemon rind 1/4 tsp. salt 2 cups whipping cream. Beat 4 egg whites, gradually add 1 cup sugar and cream of tartar. Beat until stiff, but not dry. Spread on bottom and sides of buttered 9 inch pie pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes. Cool. Take 4 egg yolks and beat slightly. Stir in 1/2 cup sugar, 3 Tb
  9. I found a recipe for Lemon Angel Pie, made with meringue crust. I just making finished it and put it in the fridge to chill for 24 hours. Has anyone else made this pie, I'm sure I won't wait til tomorrow night to cut into it.
  10. I'm looking to make some pepper jelly and wonder what is the best recipe. We like it one the hotter side.
  11. I went to Aldis yesterday about 2-3 and it was very crowded. However, I found a parking spot very close to the door, had no problem getting a buggy and very little difficulty maneuvering in the store. I bought a few things - canned milk was $.69, sweetened condensed milk $1.19, strawberries $.69, and onions (don't remember the price but it was better than other places). I believe eggs were $.99 dozen, and oranges were $1.49 for 3 lb bag. Other produce was great prices and canned goods too. I'll be going back.
  12. My husband must follow a very strict sodium regimen so I have searched high and low for low sodium products. I can find no salt added ketchup at Publix sometimes, but have found that if I want something with no or very low sodium, I have to make it myself. Low sodium tomato paste and some other tomato products can be found, but you have to look hard.
  13. I wonder if that would work at my house?
  14. Wow, that sounds very interesting. What does one do with that type certification?
  15. I agree - so disrespectful. I wonder if they do that at their house?
  16. I'm looking for something that doesn't require catering, this is a little more low key affair and we will be providing the food ourselves. These are all beautiful places and I appreciate your suggestions. I really like the one in Rockmart with the sawdust dancefloor
  17. I have friends getting married and am looking for a place to rent for a reception for upwards of 200 people. White Oak Park, Ron Anderson in Powder Springs are both booked and the Senior Center is way too expensive. Anyone have any suggestions on a place. Thanks
  18. I'll let you know how mine comes out. Probably try it this weekend. Where do you get your milk?
  19. I'll check Ingles, thanks for that info. I'd like to try making hard cheeses, have you tried that?
  20. I am attempting to make my first batch of fresh mozzarella cheese and all the recipes call for citric acid. Where do I get citric acid without having to order it or go to Marietta? Or do any of you know a substitute for it?
  21. Congratulations. Your example gives us all hope that there is a chance to get a job 'right out of school.'
  22. I have noticed the same thing about my whites. Using homemade detergent is great and I'll never go back to storebought. I believe I have solved the whiteness issue to some degree by using a little more detergent (not a lot) and washing my whites in hot water rather than cold. So far it has made a big difference. Hope this helps.
  23. I hate to hear it. I like their meat and produce section. I tried to go there as much as I could and was happy to have it there for quickly needed items.
  24. Looking at new dishwashers and have seen quite a few models and reviews on them. Looking at Frigidaire, Samsung and Bosch. Any recommendations?
