  1. Monday greetings, p.com. I know you all were so amazingly, wonderful during Chandler's illness and we firsthand know the strength and result of prayers....so with that, I now come to you with more prayer request.

Since Chandler's surgery, I have met many more parents of children with arachnoid cyst. Most are boys (the ratio is 4:1) and are between the ages of 2-13. Some children have had surgery, either fenestration or shunts, while others are still trying to decide if surgery is the best option or not. Most of the children suffer with migraines, sleeplessness, and other symptoms. While these cyst are commonly not life-threatening, they are very threatening to the Quality of life for these children. Most cannot play sports, have developmental delays, and some have mild behavior disorders.

Chandler has been very fortunate is his recovery, and it is very obvious, that God has worked many miracles throughout his little life. I pray these same blessings for the other children I have come to meet and know. I have listed their names below, and I ask one simple favor from all of you....tonight (or whenever) you say your prayers, please call these children's names in prayer. We serve an Almighty and Amazing God, I put my faith in trust in His love. Thank you and Bless all of you

    Children with arachnoid cyst:

    Fallon age 13; Washington

Gage, age 8, Texas---will have surgery on 10/3--please say extra special prayer that day

    Tyler, age 7; New York

    Nick, age 8; Texas

    Ryan, age 2;

    James, age 6; New York

  2. Workin---thank you for this post. I have been feeling this same struggle myself. I look around, and I see how God and blessed me, and then my heart just feels empty. I am also a Christian, and love my Father, but struggle because sometimes I feel so distant from the Holy Spirit. Thank you so much for posting this thread. Knowing that I am not alone, has actually helped re-spark my spirit. You are very brave to open you heart you like this, thank you. I will remember you in my prayers---will you remember me also?

  3. :D I saw him for the 1st time today.

He was walking away from the post office towards the court house,

had that dance step going on!!

    looks like he's in shape.

Chandlersmom, could you give us a little insight on him?

Opps, I didn't mean it that way :) I don't know his "story" either....but he has me SUPER curious. I have wondered before if he overcame some great life obstacle or tragedy. I have a very active imagination :D

  4. Hi everyone. Just a little request today. My fam. is heading out to Pascagoula this evening to help hurricane victims rebuild their homes. Please keep them all in your prayers. I know with God's abundant love and blessings, this trip will be a success.

P.S. They are taking their cameras, so I will try to post some pics when they get back.

One last thing, thank you again Tim (SRD) for your kindness and generousity!!! :D

  5. Thank you for all your replies. Despite what "Captain Obvious" posted, I am not trying to prove myself as a "Christian do-gooder". Yes, someone in another post kept telling me to "find another cause", which in turn made me think about some of the things I care about and that I am invloved in. Since I know very little about most people on this site, I thought this post may be a good way to find out more about folks...especially the more positive aspect, which can be most reflected by the things/causes/etc. we care about. Also, as I mentioned, I have formed some great relationships/friendships with people that I have meet through volunteer/charitable programs, so again, I thought this may be a way for me to "meet" more folks on the site. I also thought that maybe if some of us had "common causes/interest/etc." we may could work together in the future...kind of like when p.com had the Relay for Life team.

Furthermore, the reason I followed my post with the "c'mon folks...." post was to really get people to post. I noticed that there were a lot of folks making comments about "being more positive", "finding better things to do with your time", "caring about things that mattered" on the "other" thread, but they were ignoring my efforts to do exactly what they were suggesting. So touche, maybe my "c'mon folks..." post was unneccessary. But I do stand by my original motive and intentions; you can think what you may.

Now back to the topic, I noticed there are a lot of people that are supporters of CHOA. I know the next CHOA event is the Festival of Trees, and we are too late to have a tree this year, but maybe next year we can do a p.com tree. Are any of you planning on going to the FOT? It is definitely one of the events that puts me in the holiday spirit the most.

I hope everyone has a blessed Friday and weekend :-)

  6. My cause is whatever and wherever the Lord leads me

I like that. Sometimes I feel lead to certain "causes" also. You can never go wrong if your heart is with the Lord.

Gem Man--sorry if you think I am trying to brag. I am just trying to start a more meaningful thread and find some common interest with folks.

  7. Amy & Jboogie, do ya'll have experiences with CHOA? I have been invloved with CHOA fundraisers for a while, even before I had Chandler. But now that I have actually experienced what they do as a parent, I hold them even closer to my heart. Maybe next year we can have a P.Com tree at the FOT's :)

  8. In another thread I posted, someone kept telling me to find another “cause”. Well, I do not want to make this thread a branch off of the other thread, but that comment gave me an idea. I do have a few “causes” that I really care about, and my involvement in those “causes” have lead to many friendships and have also had a lasting impact on my life. For that reason, I thought, maybe we can all post some of the “causes” we are involved in or care deeply about. Who knows, there may be some of us that are involved in the same “causes”. Perhaps by joining with those of “like heartedness” maybe we can form friendship and also pattern together to benefit the causes we each care about.

I’ll start, these are the “causes” that I am involved with or participate in. I have also listed some “causes” that I would like to be more involved in. Also, this is not meant to be a bragging or “toot my own horn thread”—it is simply a way to reach out to find out more about other folks on p.com, as well as a way to possibly “join forces” J

    My charities/causes/interest:

    Children’s Health Care of Atlanta

    CHOA-Festival of Trees

    Christmas for Needy Families

    Toys for Tots

Parents of Children with Arachnoid Cyst Support Group

    Skull Base Institute

    March of Dimes

Usually the “causes” nearest and dearest to my heart are those that involve children. I am also interested in research that helps battle childhood diseases, illnesses, poverty, abuse, etc.

So here are mine, what are yours....

  9. Lesley--I'm just calling a spade, a spade. You get off on offending people---I think that is very obvious to quite a few folks on this site. I started this thread to find out something only you can answer and that is why do you feel the need to mock Christianity???

I see that you want to skip and make excuses rather than answering it, so I guess the case is closed.

For the others, agree with me or not, whatever...I just want to find out why someone is so hung up on mocking other's personal beliefs, especially since so many preach respecting others on this site. I suppose "those" who preach respect, only apply it when it pretains to their own personal beliefs.

  10. Like I said earlier, Lesley claims to be agnostic, but yet she devotes time to using symbols to mock Christianity. If you are an agnostic, why don't you just leave it alone. Your avatars suggest you "believe" enough to always make a point out of being a "non-believe". No matter what you say, I truly believe you use avatars to mock Christianity. You say they reflect who you are, and if you are an agnostic why do you spend time mocking something you don't believe in. I don't believe in Santa----so do I need to post an avatar mocking Santa?

  11. I searched and found my post to this topic quite some time ago, when Lesley had a different "fish" symbol:

The "fish symbol" is not merely only a Christian symbol, by any stretch. Maybe you'd like to read up on it's usage historically -- if so, here are a few links:

Personally -- I find her avatar amusing, and that it's usage is a "tongue and cheek" manner -- but I can understand why some would be offended. To me, though, it boils down to intent. And also we can choose to be offended by something or someone, or not. It really is within our control.

    ========================

I've seen uglier, weirder stuff here on P.com recently, in folks signatures.

And since I've met Lesley in person, and had the pleasure of working side-by-side with her at our Hurricane Drive in Hiram, I can tell you all that she's one heck of a person in real life. She was a go-getter, worker, "drill sargent" extraordinaire!  She ROCKED.... and yes, she has an off-the-wall sense of humor.

I do not read every single post on this site, so I did not know this had already been discussed. I also know that Christian do not have proprietorship on the emblem, but don't use that to justify her usage. We all know that she is using this emblem for mockery, and she is purposely try to offend, maybe even hurt those (Christians) in which her opinion differs.

I am glad you met her in person, and I am glad that she volunteered, but what does that have to do with her mocking Christians with her avatar? And also, would you not be offended if I mocked your beliefs with a ridiculous avatar. I have a feeling that if I posted an avatar/signature that read "Salem Rocked!" or if I used a "pagan" symbol being consumed with flames, you may be a little offended or hurt.

Lesley71 is purposely using this symbol as a mockery to Christians. If she is the agnostic she claims to be, why can't she just leave Christian emblems/symbols alone.
