I thought of that too, none of it makes sense and the cops know it. Someone ask earlier about the smell in the car and how long it took a body to decompose. In that kind of heat it doesn't take long at all. You can look it up and get a better detail of what happens during decomposition. And yes, there would have been a stench in the car.
