I had a BB gun when I was six and carrying a .22 into the woods by the time I was 12. Me and my cousins used to ride the pigs and the horses when we had them. We used to throw cow chips and corn cobs at each other. It was a great farm on about 200 acres. It was the best time of my life being with my granny and granddaddy.

Did you pick cotton Eddie when you were a kid? I did in Alabama. I would ride in the wagon with my granny to pick cotton. She made me a little cotton sack but I never picked much. She could pick all day. She would pack a lunch of sausage biscuits and quart jars of ice water and iced tea. She would bury the tea and water under a tree and it would still be cold at lunch time. Man those were the days and I'm getting old!! LOL. I heard that! I just thought it was Yankees that said hitchhikers. No offense!!! LOL

Health officials are scrambling to contain a major epidemic of bird flu in the Midwest that has decimated chicken and turkey flocks and caused egg prices nationwide to more than double. Almost 45 million chickens and turkeys have died from the disease as of Monday, most in Iowa and Minnesota, according to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The current strain—HPAI H5—was first detected in December, and moved from the West Coast to the Midwest. Once farmers detect the flu in their birds, they face the gruesome task of killing and disposing with the bodies of their entire flock

Are you from up north or sumpin'? LOL

I think you're right. Is that the same as poke salad? My mother loved poke salad. She would go out and pick it and fry it up in an iron skillet in bacon grease and scrambled eggs. I never tried it. You know, I was telling my grandson, after the war (civil war) folks here in the south were so poor they ate what they could find. Especially since the Yankees burned and destroyed everything they could find.

Avian influenza pandemic in chickens. It's been on the news for over a month. They've had to destroy millions of layers.

Oh wow! I remember those too! Finding things were so much fun when you were a kid. I grew up on a farm and I loved those purple berries you would find in the fall. I used to squeeze them to make ink and write with a stick on flat rocks.

I don't know but it reminds me of beggar lice. Anyone remember that when you were a kid?

Thank you so much for the report and I'm glad you went by there. I'm going up there either tomorrow or Wednesday, depending on when she may need someone there.

I just heard from Melissa, They will begin warming Thad up 11AM. His pneumonia is worst and they are suctioning him before they take him out of the hypothermia. Thad had a heart attack and a stroke. Like Melissa said, pray hard this morning. Tomorrow will be 7 weeks that he has been in the hospital. I'm so sad right now, and prayerful for this family.

So sad. That's somebody's child.

I talked to Melissa around 4:00 this afternoon and she was going home and eat and try to relax. She said Thad was in a coma but they have also sedated him and inducing hypothermia. Tomorrow they will bring his temperature back up and go from there. She's so grateful for all the thoughts and prayers and her faith is unwavering.

I got a text earlier, they are still working on him, he's having seizures and they are having trouble stabilizing him. The scan showed some damage to the brain, but they don't know the extent. He's still non-responsive. I'm saddened beyond words. Please pray for Melissa as well, I can't imagine what she's going through.

I talked to Melissa a little bit ago. Thad is unresponsive, in a coma. They were getting ready to take him for the CT, this was about 11.00.

So sad. I had talked to "Animal" back in April when I was looking for a car for my grandson. He and I were supposed to get together and have lunch, but I just never got around to it. Now I wish I had. Mike was a lot of fun to talk to, and I've just now realized after reading his Obit that I know his wife, Donna, from many, many years ago. I really wish we had met and I would have found this out and I could have gotten together with Donna. Prayers for Donna and all of the family. -
Oh my goodness, how sad. I pray every time I think of them, and I know Melissa really needs prayers right now to hold her up.
