I remember seeing quite a bit on the news about global cooling back in the 70's and the discussions in school. Time magazine made it a featured story. Global cooling was accepted amongst those in the field of science. I was listening to the radio today and there was a discussion about climate change. According to the scientific studies being discussed, there hasn't been a rise in the Earth's temperature in 18 years. Now supposedly climate change is man-made, but the reasoning for no increase in temperatures from the scientific community was something about the sun's fluctuation of so

Arthroscopic Knee Surgery for Meniscus Tear
Foxmeister replied to Blondiega1's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I had the same surgery. Mine was done on a Friday and I was back to work on Monday. I was supposed to be on crutches for a few weeks, but I only used them for a week. I didn't experience any pain either. I did have a lot of fluid on my knee, so they had to keep the incisions open (they are very small) to allow the fluid to drain. All in all it was a piece of cake. -
Peaches, do you consider yourself to be a scientist?
-
In 2013, the Daily Mail published an article that tells about leaked documents from UN report showed the world's temperature had not risen during the previous 15 years.
-
What scientific research have you conducted on climate change?
-
Not convincing. Just because something is peer reviewed, does not make it right or wrong. Any real scientist also knows that even if something becomes widely accepted, does not mean that it is 100% certain either. He does.

Peaches cannot even tell when Peaches is being arrogant.
-
What did you major in?
-
Actually, I and a retired Colonel have formed our own company.
-
Obviously this discussion is way over your head. Have a good day!

I didn't know you believed the earth is flat. It is round you know.

All I was doing was pointing out how seriously the poll in the article she cited was seriously flawed. An another article was provided that showed that flaw - that the 87% were not in fact scientists, but people of many different professions. She then tried to come back and say those who were polled were policy makers, which also wasn't true.
-
The problem with the poll you cited is not all those people were actually scientists studying climate change. They included doctors, geography teachers, middle and high school science teachers, and many others. It wasn't 87% of real scientists as you and the article you presented. Do you consider yourself a scientist?

I'll do what I can to clear the confusion for you about what it is I am learning in graduate school. I'm working on my Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management. I do hope that is easy enough for you to understand. Please feel free to ask any questions you want if you are still confused, as I'll be more than happy to answer them for you. Fair enough?

Oh give me a break. Some of those in bio/medical may be doctors i.e. cardiologists. What science does a cardiologists conduct that determines anything about climate change being man made? Look at the number in that chart for social science. LOL What scientific experiments does a social worker conduct related to man made climate change? Now you want to claim that someone who reads Science magazine (subscribers are automatically members of AAAS) are all involved in policy making? Good grief woman, you are tripping.
-
Happy Birthday dude!
-
Data from Pew on this survey shows 1,802 of those surveyed are in bio/medical science compared to 270 in earth science. Earth science doesn't necessarily mean climate change scientist either. 333 were in social science. I wonder if Peaches is a member of AAAS via being a subscriber to Science magazine?

Be Careful What You Say. And, Don't Smoke On Private Property.
Foxmeister replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Do you know what the word "intention" means? Nope, his actions directed me into a new course of action. If I had let him go with a warning when he was acting like that, what would the result have been? Most likely he would feel he could talk to police officers that way to get away with it the next time. -

I based upon my decisions on whether or not to write a ticket based upon how the person reacted to the stop. If they seemed sincerely remorseful for speeding, they got a warning. My rule, my decision to make. Now a person who was speeding in a subdivision, school zone, or anywhere there were kids playing, the driver got a ticket. -

The officers on my department had the discretion to write a ticket or give a warning. If I had let my emotions get the better of me, I would have stood there and acted in kind to how he was treating me. I didn't do that. I chose to write the ticket instead as he was doing 70 in a 55 and not wearing his seatbelt. Nothing emotional about it. -

You don't know if he was smoking or not. Do you have any idea how many times as a police officer I heard, "But I wasn't doing anything wrong" when in fact they were? -

I thought she acted appropriately. She may have intended to give him a warning, but he started acting like an asshole right away.
