  1. Don't forget former Senator Robert Byrd who was not only a member of the Democratic Party, but had served as the Exalted Cyclops of his KKK chapter. The Democrats hold him in high esteem. Pubby also seems to forget that David Duke was first a Democrat and ran as one seeking that parties presidential nomination during the 1988 Democratic primaries. Duke is an opportunist having run for several different political offices. He switched to the Republican Party when Republlican Charles Cusimano resigned from his state senate seat in Louisiana. That district was largely Republican. Now the
  2. I find it odd that this thread is in the Cafe and not the political forum. Usually pubby is pretty quick to move them.
  3. Isn't it though? He acts like I didn't earn my retirement. Don't you collect social security and get Medicare? Actually that's BS. But on the other hand, you're not tired of those who say the right thinks this or the right thinks that.
  4. I heard yesterday he was not interested. It's because he has that entitlement attitude that the government should provide for him.
  5. It won't hurt anyone, but those who will complain the loudest will be atheists. I never understood why atheists find God so offensive, but don't complain about children being taught the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus are real.
  6. During the last campaign season, I was hoping he would lose because he caved too often to liberal positions established by Obama. Democrats loved Boehner because of this; they often love RINOs because they are often more liberal than conservative. This is why CC made his statement that being called a RINO should be considered a compliment. I hope the next Speaker of the House is more conservative.
  7. Here's what the Legal Information Institute at Cornell University has to say: I'd like to see what cases you were alluding to.
  8. Atlanta will probably build one of the largest section 8 housing areas the country has ever seen and rent it to druggies and thieves. They'll be dumping their "trash" in Paulding and the taxpayers will be footing the bill.
  9. Claiming you were not hired for a job based upon your religious beliefs would be very difficult to prove. Usually when a potential employer does not hire you, they do not tell you why; they usually just thank you for having applied and that they went with another candidate.
  10. It says right in the article it is for new memberships and the sale is for one day only. I remember last year hearing Clark Howard say that current Amazon Prime members at that time were going to see a big increase when they renewed their membership. I'm curious if that actually happened.
  11. What you and many others seem to continue to forget is, marriages licenses are being issued in the county Davis works. Nobody is being denied. Now that gays are not being denied this, how is she in contempt?
  12. You missed this part in the article: The judge is now sounding like a dumbass. The legality of the license is up to the state of Kentucky. If both the state's governor and attorney general are saying they are valid the way they are being issued from Davis' office, then what more does this moronic judge want? Are gays now getting marriage licenses in that county? Yes. Does the state consider the licenses valid the way they are being issued? Yes.
  13. Federal law has absolutely nothing to do with what a state puts on any of it's licenses. How hard is that for you to comprehend? Your comment above has absolutely nothing to do with state licenses either.
  14. Federal law or a Supreme Court ruling has no effect on what goes on any state's license.
  15. The matter of the licenses is not a federal matter, but a state matter. Kentucky's governor said the altered licenses are valid and will be recognized by the state. Source.
  16. Your source is a news story prior to the reasonable accommodation being granted and while she was in jail. Here's a story about the altered licenses and how the governor, Judge Bunning, and several legal experts say they are legal. Everybody should be happy now that gays can get marriage licenses in that county; yet people still want to persecute her.
  17. The court clerk does not hear the divorce case, does not judge the divorce case, does not issue a judgement of divorce, therefore has nothing to do with the divorce other than making sure the divorce documents are filed and her staff provides certified copies to those who come in for them in the future. Heck, her name isn't even on them. Your trying to compare apples to oranges here by entering a strawman arguement. The governor said it was a legal document with the changes. You're still trying to persecute her for her religious beliefs.
  18. You completely forget the Kentucky and Federal RFRA which says based upon religious belief, a reasonable accommodation must be made. The reasonable accommodation she requested and received was having her name removed from the marriage licenses. It's a done deal.
  19. Actually, the judge does not have to grant the divorce in states where one spouse has to show fault to have the divorce granted. Most states now are no-fault divorce states, but it wasn't many decades ago when people would travel to Nevada or even Mexico to get a divorce.
  20. Good grief. You really want this woman to resign don't you? One could say you look like his brother. Then explain why she wasn't giving licenses to heterosexual couples as well. The judge grants the divorce; the court clerk files them.
  21. No gay couples are being denied marriage licenses in her county.
  22. She probably was, but it's wrong for anyone to make the assumption she is like that today because they don't know.
  23. You're making an assumption she was living as a Christian when she was married and divorced. It's not hypocritical if she accepted Jesus as her Savior after her divorces.
