I can see your point but it would be a benefit for them. Also it would give the rest of us a nice place to enjoy, AND it would create a revenue if done properly. A much better idea than an outdoor amphitheater next to a main highway.

It has been weird. I am in Temple and it went up 6 degrees in 2 hours (between 9-11) then down 7 in the last 30 minutes. They are predicting thunder too. Strange stuff.

My son is homeschooled so I do not care if it is canceled or not. My boss knows that if schools cancel because of dangerous roads that I will not be at work. We have food, TP, drinks and water in the house. The pipes have been wrapped and the windows sealed. With that being said......if it happens, it happens.....if it don't, it don't.

I like the idea of something different. Let us work on that. It can be something that no county around us has to bring in the local area and make money. We have been warned and very few people will have an excuse. There is enough time left today to do any shopping/errands there is to do. This is actually pretty simple. Plan a Shower for her and send invites to everyone. Those that WANT to come, come and those that don't....don't. I see no harm with having another shower for her. My niece had babies a year apart and we gave her a shower for both. Some people did not come and we held no grudge......it was not a big deal with us, we enjoyed the shower.

Understood. This idea could generate several good jobs tho. It would need: a building maintenance person, janitor, life-guard, receptionist (to sell memberships), etc.. And, if they added in a smoothie or snack bar that brings in a few more jobs. It would need to be open 24/7 so feasibly it could employ at least 30 people. That is more than most businesses in town employ. Just a thought.

I have come up with what I think is a win/win for the Conference Center that is under consideration. As you may have read in the original topic......I was opposed to the idea. However, I have an idea that I think may work and make us all happy. Go ahead and build the Conference Center BUT make a few adjustments. In the same building, create something that we as Citizens can use and enjoy. Let us combine it with an indoor pool and walking trail (similar to a Y). Okay, let us make this a serious discussion. My hope is that the Powers That Be will listen. Honestly, the county is wasting way too much money on parks, sidewalks, etc.. If we want to build this county up, bring in some private companies that will generate an INCOME for the county, not another expenditure. My thoughts are these: Yes, parks are nice for families.....we have ENOUGH parks already. Let us bring something like a Petting Zoo, Museum, Putt-Putt facility, etc. to town. Then the locals can enjoy it and it will bring in families from neighboring countie
