Slow-poke bill aims to stop left-lane lingerers
AustinPlantation replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Doesn't the Stand Your Ground law take care of that? -
This will make some happy and some mad. Let your state senator know. My wife won't like this. If she's gonna turn left in several miles, she drives the left lane as soon as possible. Proposed ‘Slow-poke’ bill aims to stop left-lane lingerers Those who lollygag in the left lane of highways and interstates could be ticketed under legislation approved Wednesday in the state House. House Bill 459, by Rep. Bill Hitchens, R-Rincon, was approved 162-9. The bill makes it a misdemeanor for any driver on a divided highway who does not move to the right when a car going faster approaches fro

Not exactly sure what an overnite trip is, but we've loved Myrtle Beach, about 6 hours away. Plenty of shows and activities in a fairly compact distance.

He was asked to go. As for Fallon, he left out his classic bits last night, falling over several times, Thank You notes, etc., which was good, because I had checked out his old show a couple of weeks ago in in anticipation, and didn't find them funny. But, maybe his younger audiences liked it. That's what NBC wanted.

URGENT! Local Cat Needs Short Term Foster
AustinPlantation replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Haven't seen anything posted. Don't know anyone involved in this. I have to assume that no one responded so far. Unfortunately, two of our three cats would not appreciate a new visitor, even for a short time. They don't even let cats near our windows and doors. -
This was posted at a local shelter's Facebook page on behalf of a woman who just arrived from SC and found her Aunt extremely allergic to pets: URGENT! Short Term Foster Needed for Himmy-Lynx (declawed) (location: Douglasville/Poweder Springs line) ~FORWARDED Message from Tabby~ I have a cat, Miss Kitty (but he's a boy!) that I have had since he was 2 months old. He is now 15, and I had to move down from SC to my aunt's house while looking for employment. My aunt is severely allergic, and had to put her own 3 cats outside due to the severity of her last attack -- which almost land

Garbage Company Decides to Wait for Next Week
AustinPlantation replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Nope, 'Twas for everyone in Georgia: Waste Industries Inclement Weather Alert Service Updates from Waste Industries 1/31/14 As of this morning, upon re-assessing the conditions of the roads in our service area, We feel it is still unsafe for our residential trucks to attempt trash and recycling collection. Most the secondary roads and parts of main access roads are still too icy, and we cannot risk accidents. Running our routes in these conditions jeopardize the safety of our employees, customers, and other travelers on the roads. Unfortunately, today’s routes will not be serviced. I a -

Never got a voice mail. Others say they did. -
San Antonio Shoes, which has a store by Town Center, has opened a store at the Avenues this weekend. We learned about them at a 2000 AARP annual event, only bought their brand since then, and I suspect only folks of a certain age are interested in their high quality, quite comfortable, shoes. They've got special discounts this weekend.

Waste Industries decided Friday that the back roads were still too bad to try to make pickups of Garbage & Recycling this week ad decided to not try. Garbage will be picked up on the normal day next week and bi-weekly recycling scheduled for this week will be picked up on the same day next week and then back on schedule. You may put out extra garbage and recycling next week. Only thing I would say is they should have sent out an e-mail.

We also know when not to go out in this weather --- Up North we had a very steep driveway too. Here, we were going to go out yesterday, because they said we wouldn't be part of the snow & ice, but we were smart enough to wait until 10:30am just to make sure. P.S. We didn't go out. We feel your pain. Heck, the 3 foot snowfalls up North are no match for the one inch ones down here. -

Us Northerners can drive in this stuff 'cause we're used to it. It's the cars in front and in back of you that will make it not worth going out. -
From Paulding sheriffs Office via Nixle: The city of Hiram community center is open for sheltering needs. Instructions: If in need of shelter and you can get to Hiram community center it will be available.

They did say they could help with premiums for those with low income. If you're $228 over for the year, maybe you could forgo that small amount? Sounds like that would be a net gain. -
TV Dance Show Tapings Jan. 15/16 in Atlanta
AustinPlantation replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Yes, it's legit. We went to an America's Got Talent taping a few years back by the same outfit. Gotta say that few of the ones that were taped made it on the show, but it was fascinating. They put the pretty folks up front and us old-timers near the back. And, yes, the taping runs for a few hours, at least, so don't plan anything for that afternoon. Unfortunately, this one doesn't fit into our schedule or we would go. P.S. Soon, they will be announcing Family Feud tapings in Atlanta.
