My son called me one morning about 3am to tell me my dog was barking because his dog was barking. I was sleeping! He lives next door to me, and sometimes his dog hears the coyotes and really gets started. It is a chain reaction. Our dogs start, then the next set of dogs start, and so on and so on. You might want to let the people know. If they have windows shut and run something that makes noise inside, they may not be hearing the dog bark. They might stop it if they knew. That being said, if you are off Dabbs Bridge Road, let me know. I would hate to think mine were keeping up th

What is Blackberry messenger?
-
Looking pretty close. What are the pluses and minuses? I get really aggravated when the sound quality is bad on a cell phone. How do these fair? And what about service coverage? We all have Verizon phones, but I have found one Verizon phone will work in an area and another one won't. So far, emailing is good with Blackberry, but it adds $30 a month. Not sure if emailing is worth $30 a month to me. What are its other qualities? With the EnV Touch, are the touch screens easy to navigate? Do you make extra pocket calls with a touch screen? I will play with both. I have s

Just wanting some advice from users of the phones. Which would you recommend? I have heard the Blackberry comes with an added expense. If so, how much is it and what do you get for it? And which Blackberry do you have or would you choose? I already have the V-Cast plan with Verizon, so I wouldn't have to add it to use the EnV Touch. Tell me what you like, what you don't like, sound quality, how well the phone's service is (it does vary by phone), ease of use, durability, etc. Thanks in advance guys!

Do your kids friends enter your house un-announced?
PsychoMom replied to jlh10101's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Oh, the kids all know I have an open door policy, but it is safer to knock first unless you want an eyefull of something you might not want to see. We have a small house, so if no one is home, you might be wandering around half-dressed. And since no kids live here anymore, us old folks might be relighting some old fires. lol! When they were younger, it was a different. But now, we have an empty nest. Back when my son lived at home, some nights we would hear him come in the kitchen and fix himself a snack. Then, he would come into the den with the rest of us. That is when we would r -

Good lesson on why kids should knock first. -

I am trying to make my son realize he REALLY needs to knock before coming in the house now. He doesn't live here anymore and he may not like what he walks in on. lol! -
I still believe it should be a lower fee for the license in that case. The license should automatically expire within 2 years (which would be older than 18 for some kids) and cost less initially for the shorter period of time.

http://www.dds.ga.gov/drivers/DLdata.aspx?...51492&ty=dl At 16, they get a Class D license. Have to change it to a Class C.
-
It doesn't HAVE to be changed. But, if they do not get it changed, then they get slapped with the fines above if driving after midnight. As long as the kids don't mind not driving after midnight, then it isn't a problem to wait.
-
With the new rules, 16-18yos can only drive between 6am-midnight, unless work related, I think. And it also limits how many passengers and the ages of the passengers for a period of time. However, it doesn't automatically get rid of the curfew at 18yo. They actually have to pay to switch it, which is ridiculous! It should be automatic or the license should cost less and expire at that time. Since your license is still good, a lot of kids don't consider it a big deal. After all, they are 18 or older, some are not even living with their parents any longer. And their license is valid for a

I think this means PsychoDaughter better get hers changed NOW! She is always out after midnight and lives in Macon during the school year. We've already had 2 fast driving awards from her. We sure don't need this one too! She'll be 20 in a few months and was just waiting until it expired. Too bad. I see a DDS trip soon.

Prayers to all involved.

We did get mine a checking account with our bank that I could access online. It is great to be able to just transfer money into her account when she needs it. If it were in a different bank, it would take longer. Make sure your name is on the account so you won't have any problems. And if they have an debit card for that account, you can put the money in for instant access. Great for immediate needs or bookstore. And, you can have tabs on spending at fastfood places after you've paid for the full meal plan.

Lots of Lysol! Especially if in a traditional dorm setting. Germs EVERYWHERE! A stomach bug went through my daughter's dorm last year. Their dorm room was directly across from the bathroom. They locked themselves up in their room and went elsewhere to use the restroom as much as possible to avoid the bug. And when one did get sick, the other 2 came home for the weekend to let her get over it. Luckily, since they both came here, they didn't bring it with them. lol!

Freshman year, my daughter's dorm was just the room. We needed all the stuff mentioned above. This year, she has an apartment, and they needed a microwave and a washer and dryer. We had a microwave, but someone else did too. We planned to round up a washer and dryer, but another girl's parents got that too. We hooked it up for them, and bought the shower curtain. Find out what the college has available first. If they have a kitchen and a bathroom, then you need cleaning supplies and cookware and bathroom items (shower curtains, toilet paper, etc.). If not, then you need the micro

I've done an investigation with their dad and the oldest daughter once. She is pretty good at picking up stuff. Great location! When we got there, we heard cannons shooting off. Some of the others thought it was faked, but I knew they would never do that. Just freaky! And several other things. Plus, that is where my soldier picture comes from.

Yeah, the age really matters. 13? I was considered EVIL. lol! 17? Not so much. I now have one 21yo, married, working a great job. And a 19yo in college and in the honors program there. So, I guess I did okay.

What drives me crazy is when someone sends me a text and as I open it to read, they call me. I think, 'Why didn't you just call me to start with? Or at least let me read what you sent first!"

Curfew when still in high school was 10pm during the week, and midnight on Friday and Saturday. Occasional extensions for special events. Could not go out every night during the week, but that was not a hard and fast rule. It really depended on what was going on for all of us that week. I saved my "NOs" for the really important things. I preferred many more "YESes" but not to the point of being lenient. I have been accused of being overprotective and too strict many, many times. My rule of thumb is "If it is not life threatening, permanent, or immoral, we can discuss it as an option
