  1. See, I think that's possible. But I think that it's not true for every gay person.

Most of all, I think - What's the use for all of these labels that attempt to categorize and minimalize people? If I have a friend who is gay, then he's not my gay friend, he's just my friend. I don't care if the way he lives his life is similar to the way that I live mine or not. There ae some things that are none of my business! And one of those things is - Is it genetic or environmental?

My marriage isn't minimalized by gays getting married. There are gays getting married right now. It's not affecting me in the least.

Perfectly said. I have friends that are Witnesses, New Yorkers, Gay, etc. I never introduce them this way. My friends are just that, my friends.

  2. It still boggles my mind that this county considers a station in service even if there is only one person manning the station.

And this is why my neighbors house burned to the ground. Only ONE person manning our fire station!!!! :angry2:

  3. You guys ROCK!!!!

Yall have been a tremendous support group for me. I'm going to miss hanging out with yall. Maybe we can finally get together for a brunch on a Saturday.

I could definitely handle a Saturday brunch!

  4. Chances are some of those "good folk" are high class crackheads themselves...

That'd be pretty effing sad. IMHO- CH's don't really fall into the "good folk" category. I've only know of one. He is only a few years older than my Kat (22) and he looked to be the same age as my Dad(70). Last I saw, he was straightened out. I wish nothing but the best for him and anyone who wants to get their body cleaned up from drugs.

  5. I thought it was a wonderful thing the OP turned in her CH family member. Difficult decision but wonderful, none the less. I park my car in my locked garage and still don't leave valuables in it there. OP- tell your mom to quit doing that!!!

There are some beautiful homes off the Square and wonderful people living there. Sad when CH live so close to the good folk.

  6. if memory serves me right, and it should cause my ol man works there, it's the sheriff's office, not the police station.

it's also near th epost office, and several lawyers offices. some folks has business in those neighborhoods, and even like to walk around there on the weekends.

i used to walk from crystal's to the brumby on saturday nights/early sunday mornings.

never felt anything but safe. (ok that's a lie. i also felt a little drunk)

This is completely understandable. I have done the same walking about the square area. But- I just don't know where the hoods are...

PEOPLE live in da hoods. Sometimes some damn fine people. Just sayin

I guess I just don't know those PEOPLE. Just sayin'

  7. Be glad you took a stand. One- maybe she will get the help she needs. Two- your kids now know what drugs can do to them.

I am a bit concerned that some of you actually know where the bad neighborhoods near the Cobb County Police station are. I grew up in Smyrna (20 yrs ago) and had/have no clue where those neighborhoods are! Yes- I have an idea... but I sure don't know street names... Just sayin'.

  8. I don't wear the original because I gained weight. Lost enough to get it back on but it is still not comfortable yet. KRD gave me a beautiful 3 stoned diamond for my 40th so I wear that in it's place. That said... I don't wear them at home nor do I wear them to the gym. KRD can't wear his because of the work he does and because it is way too small but he is getting close to it fitting.

Another excuse to lose weight... wedding band will fit again!!! :)

  9. The road the my rental is a place just like that. The street has the most wonderful neighbors who watch out for each other and their homes and kids. It is the most awesome street ever.

My street is much the same and I love my neighbors!

  10. I remember reading on this board..I believe it was cheffy who said it..Africian American is a term for Blacks that were born here in the US that had Family members who were slaves in the past...Had nothing to do with a person being born in African and then becoming a US Citizen..First that I had heard put that way.

Slavery ended in 1865 (13th Amendment to the Constitution)... If you were born after that, you are an American. No two ways about it. I didn't ask for my ancestors to come here. Just like any other color people (Chinese, Japanese, Indian, etc.) if you were born here you are American.

  11. I have a friend who was born in South Africa as her parents were South Africans. They are white. It is very offensice to her that black Americans call themselves African. She says they are no more African than she is American, even though she resides here and will eventually be a citizen one day.

This is totally agree with. I am as American as they come. My ancestry has Irish, Scottish, Native American Indian... but I am an American. I'm peach colored and an American. There is no such thing these days as African American unless you were BORN IN AFRICA AND BECOME AND AMERICAN CITIZEN. Get over it.
