  1. In addition to good food, would you be interested in a barbershop quartet that will deliver singing valentines? http://www.bigchickenchorus.org
  2. Fannie, Freddie and the puppet master, Barney Frank, had a great deal to do with the mortgage crisis. And let's remember that the CRA enabled many who could not afford a house to get a mortgage enabling them to live beyond their means,
  3. Thanks. Built in Mexico, designed in Europe. Profits go to Ford. Been around for many, many years. I recall seeing that the Fiesta also got safety honors. I just have a strong bias against Asian cars. Must be a birth defect. Go Packers!
  4. No Kia or any other Asian car for me. I bought something much better and it is a domestic brand:
  5. ie, it now takes 2.60 to purchase what cost 1.00 in 1980.
  6. I have been to the UK many times and they never required a visa. I'd check again before continuing the process.
  7. I just wish that the government would get out of my life.
  8. Let's see who's blamed for gas prices when we have our next Republican president - hopefully beginning Jan 20, 2013.
  9. Dammit, President Bush is manipulating the oil prices again!
  10. I am certain that Olbermann will be back somewhere/somehow but for today, what wonderful news. Maybe Pubby will open pcom's door to the vile Mr. Olbemann,
  11. True, and, if the media reports positive news, it must be accurate and backed up with facts, not White House rhetoric. If I hear, "We inherited a horrible economy from the Republicans" one more time, my head will explode. Talk about a leadership ("leadership" is used loosely when applied to Obama).
  12. No doubt - the economy is excellent for those in the White House and in the federal government. You are correct about contracting in IT. I have two current contracts which supplement my meager pensions. I can determine what I do and how many hours I work. My jobs are not full time but they do help out with the bills.
  13. In simplest terms, how the economy is doing depends on your specific situation. I am doing well since I saved for many, many years and am now retired and still working as a contractor. My 53 year old brother, who was laid off in October of 2009 from his job as an IT Director, is still unemployed after 15 months of job hunting. For him, the economy sucks.
  14. I've looked at the pricing and my assessment is that once you've completed the enticement period, the prices are pretty much the same. So, it then becomes a matter of programming and reliability. So far, I am staying with Comcast.
  15. I'm with you on not being able to afford either of those place. Guess I'll stay here.
  16. I did this route yesterday morning - Corner Road - Lost Mountain - 120 - Barrett - 575 - Riverstone and back. Other than the icy spots between Lost Mountain and Box Cox, the roads were pretty clear. They should be even better right now with all the melting yesterday. I drove my wife's Ford 500 one way and my Fiesta the other. No problems whatsoever. Venture forth. You'll be fine. Just be careful.
  17. I just drove 120-Barrett-575 to Riverstone Parkway and back. Just watch for ice. Most of it is now melting so it is wet and dirty.
  18. We plan to take 120-Barrett-575-Riverstone. I've been watching: http://dot.cobbcountyga.gov/traffic-cameras.htm and it doesn't look too bad. Just be careful.
  19. I grew up with winter and lots of snow. In the mid 90s, I lived in Rochester, MN where winter is the dominant season 6 months of the year and heavy snowfalls and blizzards are normal. I DO NOT LIKE SNOW. Period.
  20. I saw it coming and left the office around 2:30pm. My office mate and I went back to her place and drank wine while it snowed. I left her place around 6 or so and drove the short distance home. I stayed there. My wife (now ex) was out directing traffic on 120 and did not get home until after 10. She and my former office mate have not spoken to one another since.
  21. Maybe he could get contract work rather than full time and still enjoy his retirement.
