Take a water bottle and pour about 1/3 of the water out. Replace that with rubbing alcohol. Seal the bottle and make sure you label it DO NOT DRINK and place it in your freezer. The Rubbing alcohol will prevent the water from freezing completely -- you place the water bottle on the floor and roll your foot on it. The cold will help A LOT! Make sure you do stretching every morning. It makes a huge difference. Ice and stretching. It will help. Also you can take ibuprofen to help with localized swelling.

My daughter is physically and medically UNABLE to go through those things at the airport due to her implant -- therefore we will NOT fly because I refuse to subject her being groped by a stranger.

I have to disagree with you on this one. I do not agree with "the idea of little ones being groped". If you personally, as an adult, have no issues with it, that is fine. However, children are not old enough to make that decision. I am as a parent going to make that decision for my children....and I deny it.
