I think in your universe, calling him a liberal is a greater insult, mrshoward. What did you want me to call him; a stock photo unrepresentative of the group of people his image was so obviously chosen to insult? pubby PS: I don't think it is possible to personally attack a stock photo. I mean it is as if you slam me for saying the image in the spoiler below is a damned nazi. pubby

Why would the NRA accept regulation of the bump stock?
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I actually think that was a bunch of market sycophants who noted that after most mass shootings, gun sales go up. I don't think that is going to be the case in this instance as the only firearm that would be effective in this situation would be a sniper rifle and no one is going to bring sniper rifles to outdoor concerts. Indeed, the country singer who had been a strong advocate of gun rights for self-protection flipped on the topic because a snub nose 38 or even a glock with a large magazine would have been totally ineffectual in this case ... even if you could have identified where his perc -
It is the length of the beard that is distinguishing. Usually Micheal Moore is more clean-shaven. That photo must have been taken when he was in the boonies trying to understand the Trump voter and he wanted to fit in. You do know that he predicted that Trump would win after his foray into flyover land. pubby

Why would the NRA accept regulation of the bump stock?
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Oh, I think they care some - they didn't fight the bump stock when it was okayed; they may have lobbied to get it passed by the ATF because the rapid fire fun the bump stock provides means people burn ammo faster and presumably burn more as a result - but they don't care much about the smaller manufacturers. Hence they could care less. pubby -
I just said the model in the bogus complaint looked like he came out of duck dynasty. Above are the cast of Duck Dynasty. I don't think they're flaming liberals. pubby

59 dead in Las Vegas shooting - 500+ injured

The quote in a quote was from Mojo's post. But this doesn't fit the agenda of the liberals. I was reading today 2/3 of deaths are from suicide. Au contrare ... Sure, it is tough to buy a gun from a store in Chiraq ... but you can find them on numerous street corners imported from Mississippi or Georgia or Tennessee. Profits for all concerned is the key element of such importation and everyone from the manufacturers to the retailers and the criminals they sell to (for resale) are profiting. There was a movie a few years ago that raised the prospect of a civil suit that would -

The main stream media is out there wondering why the NRA is willing to accept regulation of the bump stock and seem clueless as to the answer. The fact is that the bump stock is the product/invention of small firearm accessory manufacturers; not the products of the major arms manufacturers. It is the major arms manufacturers who own the NRA and the could care less about the smaller manufacturers. The plain fact is that those gun owners who like to run through a 30 round magazine will still run through one; it will take them, depending on their skill level, six or seven seconds to pop-

I don't agree but stylistically, I wouldn't illustrate the point with a picture of a guy who looks like he came off the set of Duck Dynasty. I mean guys like Brian Williams or even Noam Chomskey are more liberal looking and I know of no liberal who would be as feral looking as that guy. Definitely a prepping gun owner with white nationalist body art. pubby

It is all about people and 'places' ... Most of the conflicts between police and the public is that the police have this notion that contacts between them and the public are an extension of the Simon says game from childhood and about half the public doesn't know the game and the other half never liked it. Said differently, even today it is a pecking order thing; for some men women aren't supposed to be sports reporters and if they are, they're supposed to not ask technical questions. Conflicts from religious rights, to civil rights to women's rights to student rights all involve perce

CC: I think his idea maybe to take some of those weapons stashed here, there and yonder and those who feel like him combine to cleanse the body politic of those who might not support the second amendment in the same distorted way as he does; you know, commies, socialists, liberals and democrats. Ever notice how they try to characterize those who are liberal as anything from sheep to zombies to unthinking individuals - it is necessary to dehumanize them before they slaughter them. Adolf figured that much out in regard to the discrimination he stoked against the European Jews. See Z -

First, recognize CC's reply with the notation that he just didn't go far enough. Think drunk driving. Yep, people still to this day drive drunk but cops, because of the outrage, got on top of DUI and prosecuted and punished a lot of folks. When I was growing up, the concept of designated driver was not even considered. Society will never be perfect and people die in wrecks with drunk drivers but literally tens to hundreds of thousands of live have still been saved because cops couldn't stop every DUI - they stopped some and changed the way we perceive alcohol and driving. As fa -

The idea that 'everybody says' that some folks from both sides relate is just a description of how insulated they are in their information bubble. Veterans and serving military are really just about as diverse as our truly diverse society and aspersions to the contrary are just factually questionable if not flat out wrong. pubby -

Well, Trump doesn't pay taxes because one of his companies went bankrupt and given the people are providing his housing - and paying rent for property owned by Trump when he stays there (allowing him a profit) one might say he has more in common with Puerto Rico than first appears. pubby -

Liberals know this. That is why they want background checks so that folks who have a proven record of dismissing the sanctity of the law can be identified and those people who sell guns legitimately can follow the law and not sell them the guns - even though they may want to buy or even steal them. While this particular guy didn't have a criminal record, the idea less than three percent of the population owns half the guns, an average of 17 guns each. The article in the Washington Post in 2016 suggested those who own many guns are fearful and actually have guns, loaded and ready, stashed -
If you like Trump you're going to love this guy.
gpatt0n replied to CitizenCain's topic in RECENT TOPICS
What makes him the best candidate? Is it is attitude toward homosexuals or his willingness to ignore orders from higher courts? Or is it that he carries a gun on stage to make speeches? Personally, those attributes would be disqualifying for a person I want representing me or in any public capacity. I really am having a hard time coming up with any legitimate job, much less public service position that he is qualified to hold. Oh wait, he might be suitable as a Klan leader. pubby -

I agree, you don't follow Trump nor are you a robot NJ. I suspect you can see that what trump did is misuse his bully pulpit to make it a larger issue that it would have been because he didn't want to talk about his failing in Puerto Rico. It is political slight of hand to wave a new shiny object in front of the press and get them striking at it instinctively. I don't disagree with your position and I recognize your right as well as the rights of those kneeling to do so. As I'm not a fan of the NFL, I wouldn't know the names of those are protesting and it would not drive me away from -
