  1. Spiders have been capturing their prey like this for hundreds of millions of years.
  2. I'm surprised you made that statement mrshoward. After all, in most of your posts you are highly supportive of the craziest; mentally unstable president in the history of the republic making me think you love crazy people. pubby PS: There is also this tool; used by authorities in other parts of the world and also in wildlife management.
  3. You have to remember mrshoward that we've been listening to the serial liar for more than two years. Sure, sometimes he even sounds half-way not a nitwit ... but you have to understand for what 55 percent of all Americans he has no, none, nada, nix, not one whit of credibility. Just what he lied about regarding Russia was enough and it started in 2015 and frankly, I was done with his lies by March 2015. pubby PS: I heard the presser. He indicated he was listening a little regarding the Jones Act ... but he 'listened' to people counseling remaining in the Paris Accords but was
  4. One of the big concerns of those in Puerto Rico is the apparent unwillingness to lift the monopoly the Jones Act places on cargo coming to ports there. This is a long-term sore point that says taht the only ships that can dock and unload cargo there (of any kind) have to be US flagged ships. The issue is that almost all the items from plywood to roofing is estimated to cost about 20 percent more there because of the monopoly established by the Jones Act. This is an issue that has been around and notably, it applies to other ports in other states. The difference is that both Florida an

  6. She did. Typically, whites enjoy a presumption of innocence. For instance, if a white man says he has a gun and a permit he is much less likely to be shot on the spot and instead is allowed to present the weapon and permits in what on its face is the exact same situation. The obvious difference is that some cops assume the black man presents a criminal threat and the presumption is the legal possession of a firearm is a threat. That lack of presumption of innocence is on its face denying an American citizen their constitutional right to a gun. pubby
  7. I had to look up who she was. Never saw her before. The element that attracted me to the story was that the English woman involved said that she was making fewer moral compromises as a porn star than she would have struggling to be an attorney. Obviously that aspect - that this was an exploration of morality - was miles over your head. pubby
  8. Is being a sugar baby any less morally questionable than doing porn? Certainly you would not be obliged to tell everyone what you're up to whereas with porn you putting it out publicly so your presumed moral failure is not public; but immorality is immoral whether it is public or not. For example, one might privately kill a person for their fortune and it is conceivable they might get away with the murder ... even have it reported as a suicide or even natural death. But would that person be more moral because their crime is not known than the porn star 'who didn't kill anyone?" pubb
  9. Don't know about whites so much but it appears that white cops can pretty much plug anyone they don't like the looks of ... with near or no provocation ... and that is directed more toward blacks than whites but white folks get rousted and even shot with little provocation as well. Here is another bit of that article in the Weekly Standard that discusses the underlying issues surrounding this kerfuffle The only reason any of this is happening is because Trump and his tribe considers LEO above the law and the rest of us know better but since they are pushing it - remember Trumps

  11. I think that is why Jerry Jones and several other owners kneeled or were holding arms with their players. In this idiocy, they've taken sides and more power to them. (BTW: That is their choice.) Turn it off, that is your right. Hell, go listen to Rush and rot your brain some more People were sitting on horse during the National Anthem; Would that mean it is okay to sit in a chair or would you have to have a saddle on a chair for it to be okay. Look folks; politics is not religion and even if it were, people have the right to perceive and react to such things in their o

  13. If I were mrshoward, I would be upset. pubby They know it but to admit it would require they recognize the monumental hypocrisy they represent. pubby
  14. I was watching one of the shows and they quoted the KC quarterback who asked why is Trump so angry, calling American football players, SOBs's while asking why he is so nice to the neo-nazi's after Charlottesville. One possible answer could be that Trump is the first 'white' president, as explained in this article in the Atlantic. The article opines that while all other presidents earned the respect from actual sacrifice for the people by accomplishments in a wide range of areas; Trump's political bonafides began with his leading the birtherism crusade. You obviously
  15. You mean fake news aggregator, don't you? That is a marvelous record; presenting over 400 propaganda articles from Putin's Russia. Bravo! pubby
  16. This is one of about 15 points made in an article in THE WEEKLY STANDARD (not known as a liberal rag, btw) that goes on to detail things like the arrest of Mitt Romney (charges were dropped when he threatened to sue) as well as details relating how abusive cops bullied WASPs over their rights to carry firearms. To deny the problem is a cultural blindness that belies the hatred by exception that conservatives have toward all unions (except those for cops). It is a good read that suggests that Trumps efforts at exacerbating division on this issue is an effort to make us all losers. I'l
  17. Left wing? Russia is commie yet it is that standby the drudge report promoted more than 400 fake news Russian propaganda stories since 2012. Here is the discussion of the fact on the Drudge Retort. Drudge is the taint of internet journalism. pubby
  18. That may have been true in Nov. 2016; the numbers are I suspect declining rather rapidly. We agree. I think that is a pretty broad statement that applies to more than just DJT. Anyone reading pcom would see the purveyors of right wing thought on pcom are just as dismissive of police brutality and structural, and for that matter, word-softened racism as is trump. Speaking of the constitution and the rights conferred; here is a graph that contains the quote of former SCOTUS justice Anton Scalia in regard to symbolic speech: Trump never promised hope; he pro
  19. According to an article in RadioFreeEurope/Radio Free Liberty the Russians occupation of Crimea is being marked with widespread violations of human rights including as many as 10,000 deaths; denial of basic rights to those who do not hold Russian citizenship (i.e. Ukrainian and other ethnic groups) The article is here: click for article pubby PS: In the 'related' media box on the Radio Free Europe website, there is a box with a lawyer's picture that reads: Lawyer For Crimean Tatar Leader Compares Russia With Nazi Germany
  20. You can read the story right here ... and obviously not every law school grad would have the qualifications to become a porn star That said, the bolded line below is what makes this story a classic: The article appeared in a lawyer trade magazine which, using the headline above, added: " When "attorney" is a worse job than "porn star," the industry should take pause.I think this one goes down in the truth is funnier than the jokes category. pubby
  21. It is possible the CRV is flex-fuel in which case it can handle it fine. My understanding is that the higher alcohol content tends to compromise the rubber fittings in the fuel system; things like fuel pump gaskets, couplings, key parts in the injector. The real issue is if you try to regularly run the car on that high alcohol content fuel. What research will tell you is that you’ll likely get a check engine light, but you can top off the rest of your tank with regular gas and ride it out. “One time misfueling should not cause any long-term damage,” said Robert White, vice-pre

    Fake news

You need to add that practicing journalism is also not cheap in terms of time, energy or money. It also benefits from talent. That said, I don't profess to be doing much journalism these days I just don't have the resources. pubby

    Fake news

Good question. The reason is that if there is no news you can trust, then you can be led to believe there is no holocaust, that people of different religions are inferior; that people with different skin colors are inferior. When you demean people, it makes it a lot easier to steal from them. Hell, just kill them because they are inferior and therefore, not deserving of what ever things - land, homes, property they have. At Bergen Belsun concentration camp, they had a dozen warehouses where everything from human hair to teeth were rat holed as property. Nazism was an organized, st
