  9. Hiram Baggett, a grandson of Allen and Elizabeth Baggett, born 1846, married Julia Ward. Hiram was a Civil War veteran. He is shown in 2nd Company F, 1st Confederate Regiment of the Volunteer Infantry Army of Tennessee, C.S.A. of Cobb County, GA. He moved to Paulding County, GA shortly after the Civil War and settled in the District that later became the City of Hiram. Old Hiram began to be established as a small settlement in 1849, apparently with no particular name. It was made up of a few old wooden-frame buildings.
