Welcome to the realization of Reagan's and the modern GOP's ide of a service-based economy. Will that be paper or plastic?

Thanks you - got to agree on this. This is just a money racket. It is to the point some have grade graduations. Just say "no" people...and if you can't.... Step right up! For $70 per student, we will set you up with SEMESTER graduations! Cap, gown, certificate! Fun for the whole Paudling educated family! See? Let's not get down to that. Please. Or just send me the money.

Holy Exploding Watermelons, Batman!

Ditto. That is why there needs to be strong regulatory agencies. The idea companies and individuals can self-regulate is a bad joke. A strong consumer-oriented market provides better product value for the consumer dollar, better safety and less money wasted on clean up and damages, curbs lawsuits and insurance, and help provide better wages overall. Regulated capatitalism: a healthy consumer market is good for all. -

Question re the current climate for selling a house in Paulding
AgentOfReason replied to juleebella's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I would consult a few real estate agents if you want serious factual info. The average selling time question is hard to give a meaningful answer.. perhaps you can provide a price range, type of house and general location. Tax bills lag house prices. As house prices have tailed badly, tax bills are generally higher than the house and property values. Add to the situation that the local governments are under severe budgetary pressures, they are not going out of their way to reduce the property tax revenues voluntarily. As far as if I were in the market....regardless of our county -
That's mostly an incomplete look at it. *Just* factoring inflation, $5.15 in 1997 had the same buying power as $7.01 in 2010. Annual inflation over this period was 2.40%. One source: http://www.dollartimes.com/calculators/inflation.htm You can get some subjective numbers to shade this way or that. The fact is, wage increases are barely keeping up with real (on the streets) inflation. Imagine how life is on $7.55/hr. Then you have others where the restricted minimum wage rules do not apply. Wow.. yeah that's quality.. crap and crap. Let's not invest in things that will la

Posted by Kim Peterson on Monday, August 16, 2010 2:00 PM Wal-Mart (WMT) has been quietly raising its prices, giving little weight to fears that shoppers may have less spending money if deflation takes hold. A recent study by JPMorgan Securities found that the mega-retailer has upped prices by nearly 6% ov

No more "FREE" searches on the property tax web site
AgentOfReason replied to Mrs G's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Snide remarks without doing your homework doesn't make one loook good. Bandwidth is cheap. However the infrastructure overall is not. Computers and related equipment, cooling and electricity, maintenance, computer people.. it adds up to provide 24/7 secure operational capability. Yes, the infrastructure would be cheaper than manual labor over time, but that assumes many factors. One of the biggest issues why the online search will be partially overhead and not total cost-savings is that, hey, not everyone has internet access and an even bigger portion the overall population is not compu -
No more "FREE" searches on the property tax web site
AgentOfReason replied to Mrs G's topic in RECENT TOPICS
There is always costs to services. As the previous poster noted, the county - er, taxpayers, er, us - paid for it. This is now a pay-as-you-go-service. Increasingly this will become typical. -
Try this, worth a shot before carting the computer back. 1.When your computer starts its next reboot (black screen), continue to press the F8 on your keyboard until you get the Advanced Boot Options screen. 2.Using the arrow keys, select disable automatic restart on system failure option, and press the Enter key. Of course, this is treating the symptom and not the problem. I would still go back and have this addressed if the workaround above succeeds for you.

Only given two choices: Big Business or Big Government
AgentOfReason replied to EagleWings's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Business - it's all about the money. Greed. Little green pieces of paper have more power and voice than a human. At least with government, it can be voted out and we have input (IF WE CHOOSE TO PARTICIPATE). Remember: "In a Democracy, the people get the government they deserve" - Alexis de Tocqueville. -
Mom asked me this question and hopefully y'all can answer it....

Never too late to incorporate... ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the City of Sudie! Our first act will be to seize all property along Hwy 61 from Villa Rica to Dallas and install stop lights at every intersection. This is also known as the Hiram growth plan. Although 15 miles of street light decorations at Christmas would be impressive. -
To top it off, an airport with the attendent noise pollution ends up hurting home prices and subsequently county tax revenues. Way to go developers and your co-opted politicians.

Yeah, a 4 lane EX-highway.. now reduced to a twice-a-day (sometimes more) stop-and-go nightmare from Hiram to I-20 (another clog-fest). Again, typical pie-in-sky marketing scam talk. As for other outer perimeter projects.. ever driven out to Roswell, Stone Mountain and other outer rim areas? Not remotely going to be enhanced for access using I-20 and I-75 improvements (how many years and dollars will that take?).
