  1. The needs of the many outweight the needs of the few. It's very classic "victim mentality", which is rampent in our country. There's a ton of resources being wasted on one single kids "statement". When we have a product that costs more to operate than the revenue it generates, you have to sunset and move on. Not to sound harsh, but the kid will likely go on to be an artist; he probably won't gain much from the public school system since he'll likely go into some sort of entertainment (by his own admmission). Therefore, we should probably let him go on and find a home and focus on th
  2. I don't either - though I don't know that kids should be free to wear wigs to school. I men, what if they want to rock foil halloween wigs or tina turner wigs? what if it was a white guy coming in everyday with an afro wig? Would that be acceptable? Sadly - I think the way he presented himself on the radio is pretty indicative of his motives. This was my favorite, "If you agree with me, I love you. And if you don't agree with me, I know you still love me." I tried 50 times to call in...All I wanted to know was what his GPA is? Is he in school for an education or is he there to make a sta
  3. Wow - 30 minutes of people defending this kids right to wear a pink wig to school and use the girls rest room. He said, "They should put a brain instead of gender signs on the restrooms". I'm going to have to look up N.Cobb's test scores - I mean, since the administration has so much time to deal with this crap. I think that Mr. Escobar should move to Europe - they have unisex bathrooms. That way my tax dollars can pay for someone that wants and education - not publicity.
  4. I honestly think that this will prove to be another method to dumb down society - ie the onslaught on autism. Make us passive before they confine us to allow the elitest to carry out their agenda...Flouride was the tool, until we all started buying water in the doors of our fridge or bottles. A very fine line between brain altering and lethal. They made headway with thimerasol and now we're just at another phase. And while all of that is a bit far fetched, I'm not certain that it's completely out of the realm of possibility, especially given all of the new world order stuff that has been
  5. I actually have a lot of sympathy for them. There's all these things that you forget about - sunglasses on your head is the MOST common thing. But if you don't travel you don't know to put your laptop in a seperate bin, your bags and shoes directly on the belt, etc. Not to mention they have people like me going 90 miles an hour behind them. If you go to the right to the T-gates international travel, they not only have "pro lanes", but it's always empty because 20 yards from there is a TSA agent directing them to the main security check point. I can get from shuttle to Budweiser bar in le
  6. You're right...but here's the thing, the airlines only really care about the business travelers and they board first because of status. Of course, business travelers are also less prone to complaining about things like baggage size to begin with...restrained by a brow beaten patience. I just wish that the airports would make a couple lanes ONLY for novice travelers. I see so many people that don't travel by air often and they seem terrified going through security.
  7. So true, so true. BUT, that's why he's the boss...and others flouder.
  8. That was with Delta flying into SF. eta: here's my shameless plud for Continental. They usually will offer the same pricing as Delta and their service is heads and shoulders better than any other airline out there.
  9. I got this memo today too. I am actually pretty shocked that prices are as low as they are - to give you an idea, I go to NYC 2 times a month, never pay over $225 WITH fees. I booked a flight up for the next day, and it was $350 - next day air travel? That's unheard of! California over Thanksgiving, $332. I've learned to pack a little smarter to avoid checking - which can be in excess of $50, or I upgrade on points if I can't get around checking as business class get 2 checked items for not cost.
  10. It is far easier to criticize the problem than it is to offer a solution to it.
  11. I'm going to take my son, he's a HUGE Phantom fan! He LOVES the soundtrack (but who doesn't?)
  12. Love Never Dies, the sequel to Phantom of the Opera, will release in London in the spring of 2010!!!!! It will be coming to NYC in the fall of 2010! This is so fabulous, I can't wait!
  13. Here's all the lore you could hope for http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=70830
  14. It is so hilarious to wind y'all up and watch you go. I think that it's neat! It's a long standing ritual that I had no idea about! I haven't been able to find difinative orgins, but the Europeans have a lot of quirky rites.
  15. I think I want to toast with these on our wedding night. The tradition of drinking champagne from a woman's shoe began in the 1880s in France. Piper Heidsieck revives this tradition with Le Rituel a new collaboration with shoemaker Christian Louboutin. The set includes a bottle of champagne and a red-soled Louboutin glass stiletto. The website for the project says it will be available in the U.S. on October 19. You can follow Piper Heidsieck on Facebook or Twitter as they reveal more details about the project which has shoe-loving fashionistas buzzing.
  16. Darling, $100 is $100. $100 is a week's stay at something other than the Peachtree and Pine shelter. Did you know that homeless people that want to stay in a shelter that isn't a drug den or a place where anything they (might) have will get taken cost about $60/week? Does your kid know that? They should. When my son asked why people beg for change, I told him that cold realty of our society. I'm not saying that we shouldn't buy nice things for ourselves or our children, but it's like letting the fat kid have an ice cream cone while he runs on the treadmill. What message are you really se
  17. I wanted my son to have this very lesson - so I signed up for a Homeless Youth awareness charity, for which I worked for several years directly connecting with children on the streets of Atlanta. Every week, he would know what his mom was going to do when I put on my shirt. I didn't give him an overpriced doll that completely contridicted the very lesson I was trying to teach. To each their own on dolls or the stuffed bears or what not, but I really hope that we're not looking to toys to "teach" our children empathy for poverty. I actually think the doll is insulting to the homeless, and
  18. That is what I meant - thank you for correcting my typio. And I've never been to the Bronx (or any suburb of NYC), but I've heard this is where the homeless are sent - and I know that they don't look like that doll. We should scare the crap out of our kids re: homelessness - not give them a doll that glamourizes it.
  19. I don't have a reason to brag (yet), but this is my darling's way of making me furious with anticipation for my birthday this weekend. And he does this, often.
  20. They should at minimum make it believable. Maybe the doll company should get out of their Fifth Street offices and head over to the Bronx.
  21. I strongly recommend Into the Heights, it's won a ton of Tonys up in NYC. Spring Awakening is also a great date night show - it will um, getcha in the mood.
