So how long before you would be broke?

My parents didn't have a basement, a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of. But, I do alright. -
My favorite was: "If the man made himself valuable by getting a formal education he is much more likely to keep a job." Most valuable people I know are in sales. They change jobs every 5 years and *might* have a bachelors from some rink-dink school. Interestingly, I know a half a dozen unemployed MBAs.

Wait! Someone forgot to tell Mark Zuckerberg (or the myriad of other people that haven't found success through hard work, some calculated changes and a little luck).

I just booked a ten grand vacation to Disney for a child that, by your logic, shouldn't have been birthed. What have you done lately to stimulate the economy, besides pay your internet bill so you have a place to play God? Hold me back, hold me back! As you can tell, your post struck a nerve (not to mention you slanted Blue, which is one of the most intelligent and well rounded people on pcom). You really should consider the variety of circumstances that people can fall into, and I'm living proof to never count a person out.

Time to go back to school, Solo, and take a few economics classes. And maybe reading, because BLUE stated pretty clearly that both of the people in his scenario had "stable" jobs (unless, of course, teachers shouldn't have children?) but it's pretty damn difficult when half of the income vanishes by way of (likely) a motor plant. "What's the husband's education?" You statement inferred that guys without a "higher education" shouldn't have children. But these kinds of statements just make me laugh, probably because I've been a little too close to the topic.

You better be a millionaire doctor if you're going to make these kinds of insinuations.

Ahh, yes, that little thing we call life. I don't think that the defaults of starters homes is to blame. I do, however, believe that the thousandaires making $50 grand a year thinking that they can afford a $500K house most certainly ARE to blame, and I believe that is where people get a bit more ticked (understandably). Still, 75% of pcom is great at solving very complex problems with a can of Kilz and a really big paint brush.

The banks are to blame for this mess. While I agree we should pay our debts, some of us (me included) took on creative financing after very careful due-diligence and consultation; the housing bubble was tough to predict by even the most savvy of investors. Of course, losses should be anticipated and planned for beforehand. Our economy has flourished on some degree of speculation.

I use SkullCandy too. Quite honestly, it seems like I'm replacing my earbuds several times a year because I leave them on an airplane or some other such nonesense. $400 for a pair of earbuds?? Damn, that's some Samantha Ronson shiat right there.

It's very apparent which individuals in this thread own a home. There are a variety of reasons why a "new car" (whatever that means) makes sense. Obviously, the OP was meant to be derogatory and intentionally evasive. What is new? What is the circumstance on the default of the loan? What is was the catalyst to the new car purchase? Too many variables. The person could be downsizing their vehicle. The previous vehicle could have been in someone else's name, maybe there was a divorce...Money management and consumerism isn't as black and white as "not paying the mortgage and buyin

Is this really a question? Someone is video recording your child at play outside and you're asking the internet if you should be concerned? I believe that it's illegal to record a person without visibly posting that the area is under surveillance. The police would have been at my house at 9:05am.

Bubba and I went out for dinner and he gave me the thumbs up. He's excited to learn how to skype...he said, "ok mom, but when you get home I want to spend 20 days at your house!"

Get your full chart done. If you kno your time and place of birth, you can get a more comprehensive view. For instance, you're only half your birth sign, you're also very much your rising sign. google astrolab, they have a good comprehensive, free one!

ONce an addict, always an addict. I've met a lot of choronically umemployed and homeless and this guy is no different. His golden voice is a parlor trick. Crackhead homeless folks are no joke...

How in the HELL did you translate my post into being all about money? You're a trip, sista! Thanks for the encouragement. I really do look forward to the awards and I am always proud to see the "repeat offenders" and honored that I get to be there to share in their accomplishments. And there's Skype, which will help. Isn't Allyson classy?! I love her crazy and really hope that she replaces Camille. Why do you say during school? His dad is very responsible with school work, plus all of his studies and grades are online. And his teacher and I have email if something were

Am I the only one that bags my own groceries? I use reusable bags, and I always apologize to the bagger with things like, "it's not you, it's me." I worked at Publix in high school, so I've bagged some groceries in my time...and I'm just particular. -
Because my SO has 50 families that work their tail feathers off all year long to qualify for and earn this trip. I go over to support them and their spouses for the sacrifices that go along with being sales professionals. These people put food on a lot of tables with their efforts, mine included.

OK, in thinking through this, I just had some issues pop up. I'll be on a boat for the first half, can they do laundry? Jeez, and I have to think about the visa and crap. Blah.

I'm actually debating on just having his dad stay at my house so that he doesn't have to make the drive. I can count on him (for the most part), but you bring up a good point with school! Ugh, it's making me sick to my stomach to think about.

I'm going to the Mediterranean for 2 weeks and my boss just told me that I have to be in London for a week and a half after wards. I know that I'll have Skype, but that's a long time to be away from my boy. He's almost 9 and will be with his dad, do you think it's okay for me to go? I'm struggling with whether or not I should skip my cruise and just do the business part of the trip. Have any of you had to leave your young children for that long?

How do these work? How long are they effective? Is it covered by insurance?

I am calling my doctor today after pulling my back out shoveling the driveway. I certainly hope that they don't have the same stance, because I've been up since 2am for the 3rd night in a row.

These aren't schedule II? I always get hydrocodone, and I thought that was as strong as it got!!! It's certainly as strong as I need, but alas, my docs don't call in ANYTHING on off hours.
