  1. 2014 is going to be great!!!
  2. DS is 8th grade, and we are going through this. I remember having to come up with something when I was in middle school (back in the stone age) back then they gave you a test, and then you got placed in the classes that would (hopefully) lead to that career. Right now 8th grader says he just wants to play football. I have my work cut out for me.........
  3. I guess there is a special temperature for beer. So, I'll take your word for it.
  4. Nope a cold stream will do that. You ever walked thru a mountain stream?
  5. Well, so far we would all be lost back in the early pioneer days. Hot water? You can boil water to make it hot. Stove? You know you can pile up rocks to make one of those. Washer? Yeah that would suck to hand wash everything.
  6. Yeah I know "first world question." For me it is a clothes dryer, especially during the winter. When I was growing up in WPB we hung our laundry out on the line. Towels, and jeans were the worse, they were all stiff and rough. I do remember the smell of the sun with our other clothes. I also grew up ironing clothes (mom took in laundry for other folks to help ends meet.) I actually enjoy ironing even now. I find it relaxing. Hand washing dishes, isn't all that bad. My little sister, and I had many conversations while doing this mundane chore.
  7. That's what S&D has been saying all along. Just like every one else in this thread with the exception of TP. TP is being purposely obtuse in trying to pretend that he doesn't understand this simple fact.
  8. I have a friend that had to prove that her daughters, are indeed her daughters. All because someone got their SS# and claimed them on their tax returns. My friend will still have to go through this BS again because of identity theft.
  9. Ummmmm somebody doesn't know when the discount is.......might be one of the ones I need to watch. I may still give them a try. Back home they were the more expensive store, and you only went there to buy the "ethnic" foods. Our regular store was Winn Dixie, or as mom called it the "Quick check."
  10. I don't eat that much tuna. Growing up it was on our table a lot because it was cheap, and I guess I just avoid it because of the whole childhood thing. I don't think they had a link with the lunch meat when I was pregnant with oldest. My middle, and last child were both 9+ lbs. No diabetes or anything. Just lots of room to grow (as the nurse at the hospital said.) Yeah It wouldn't have been pretty if I had been pregnant during the holidays.

You know for us it is less then a 50.00 increase. I just don't understand why it's always the vets, any and all military, and our senior citizens. Isn't it Coburn that has the waste in govenment spending book/website? Why not start there? Along with slashing the salaries of the congressmen, and women?

Yes, this year the COLA is 1.5% it is the same for the military and Social Security. Funny from what I understand this is only applical to the enlisted personal. It has been said "rank has it's privilages." DR could answer that better, my husband is a disabled enlisted man. I can only say that because he is 100% permanent Total UE, we do depend on his disability. If this were in effect now the military would only get 0.5%.

But, that is the way it has always been. Sad that there are some on this board that don't understand that simple fact.
  14. Girl, I've seen your pictures. You look great!!
  15. Shoot I craved Russo's (local sub shop in WPB) subs when I was pregnant with my oldest. However that was 33yrs ago. With my middle child I wanted Pizza, that was 28yrs ago. With my last one, meh, I still ate what I wanted. I ate Publix subs, and drank whole milk. It's a miracle that 14yr old is healthy as a horse. I even ate anything I wanted while I nursed the kids. I even drank coffee. I have figured out that for every "horror" story they are not the norm. Use what little common sense that you still possess (that still doesn't look right, but spell check says it is) and use it.
  16. I called the one on 61, and Ridge road. I'm thinking about starting to shop there. I usually shop Kroger. I did find out that Michaels does a military discount on Tuesdays, and an AARP discount (I forgot the day) so there's that. I-Hop always has a discount. Auto Zone has a military discount, don't know about a SC discount. These are the ones I know about, and the ones I use most often. Some ages age 50, some are 60+.
  17. I never know there was a problem with eating pretty much anything you want while you were pregnant. I also don't think there's anything wrong with letting kids play in the dirt, drinking water from the hose, riding bikes/skateboarding/rollerskating w/o padding either.
  18. Their discount is on Tuesday, Kroger is Wednesday. Kohles is also Wednesday. Michael's has a military discount on Tuesdays.
  19. ^^Ditto^^ I really am glad your feeling better. Pay attention to those restaurant scores.
  20. I'm waiting on the panda. She's gonna get ya. Hint: Check your title..........
  21. I remember those days. You just pray that God watches over him, and when you get that call it feels sooooo good. I think that DS was right at 4 weeks in when Christmas came around.
  22. They let them call home when my son was at boot. He was in the Marines.
