  1. Durn, 10 days before election day and no one has anything to say about local or state elections in here?? I would think this time would be a little more active in this forum.

    Where is everyone???

I voted the other day and I voted NO on the splost and I voted for Will Avery and Roy.

The other races didn't seem like they got much attention.

  2.

Todd Pownall is a proven leader in Paulding County and for that reason I support Todd Pownall for commissioner post 2 Please consider Todd's qualifications when you vote tomorrow.

    Thanks WHITEY

Todd is more qualified than his opponent. Comparing apples to apples, Todd is the better choice.

I hate to see folks sling mud like Reagan Republican. His mud slinging shows desparation and a lack of character. When you compare qualifications and experience, Todd is the better choice.

  3. I've had experience with Drew Lane when he prosecuted Rodney Clark, the young man whose reckless driving resulted in a head on collision with my son's truck and killed Clark's 6 year old son.

My only comments are that the case was not prosecuted in as timely a fashion as I would have liked and that Clark got off with a sentence that was far too light.

I'd like to boot out all the incumbents and start over.

  4. I know we have a Chamber of Commerce, but we really need to invest in our infrastructure before big business will come. The airport is a great start, but our traffic, especially Hyw 278 & Hwy 92 around the Hiram area is a serious problem. For a semi-truck coming from the Powder Springs rail yard to Dallas during rush hour, traffic is horrendous. We need a better way to get to Hwy 41, I-20, etc.

I love the discussion regarding industrial growth. A rail line is key. There are a couple of properties for sale with rail access (over near the Dallas wood yard comes to mind), but before a serious manufacturer will come here, we need $Big money invested up front. I'd love to see a metal recycling facility go in, the problem is there aren't enough manufacturing facilities around to buy their scrap from, so businesses are more apt to go to Marietta or to the Fulton Industrial area. What about a cold storage facility like seafood, meats and frozen foods? Why not try to lure one to Paulding giving tax breaks and other incentives? Intermodal warehousing?

It can be done, the local politicians need to get off their wazoo and make it happen.

  5. I've looked at all three web sites and they all seem to be for lower taxes. My question to the candidates would be in regards to commercial/industrial development. Currently, the economy here in Paulding is heavily affected by retail sales and residential construction. The market downturn has affected tax revenues and now the BOC & BOE are both in a huge budget crunch. There is very little diversification as far as industrial, manufacturing, etc.

What will each candidate do to attract new types of businesses to diversify our tax base, and to bring good paying jobs to Paulding County?

  6. I saw where Mr. Pownall Has a website at toddPownall.com

I saw where Mrs. Cochran has a facebook page and she encourgaes folks to look her up.

What is the deal with Mr. Gregory? Does he have a web site where folks can look at his resume and get a feel of what he's like.

I certainly want the best candidate to win, but voters need to be informed.

  7. Those are a couple of good photos. There's no doubt that the military men are treated with a lot more dignity & respect today than they were back during the Vietnam war. I had two uncles serve in the Army during that era, but they don't really open up and talk about their experiences.
