  1. To be honest I do not see a lot of roadside enforcement of this law. I see it being used as a cornerstone of a lot of lawsuits resulting from accidents where negligence is the basis of the suit.
  2. I was wondering the same thing, but that is another topic dealing with responsible parenting so I didn’t bring it up in this thread.

  4. If you text and drive, it is not a IF matter of but WHEN. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1M74j8LvX6k When you text (or or do anything else for that matter) that takes your focus off of the roadway and surrounding conditions you not only put yourself and your passengers in danger you put others in danger as well. Look at how many lives this idiot impacted because of his selfish distraction. When you operate a motor vehicle on a public roadway you have an OBLIGATION to give your full time and attention to the operation of your vehicle. The technology is there to restrict the text
  5. This is not dialing a number, this is texting and I see it all the time.especially if the phone has a slide out keyboard, one does not need two hands and a slide out keyboard to dial a number.
  6. OH didn’t you get the memo, traffic laws have one purpose and only one purpose and that is to generate revenue.
  7. The text in quotes is from the judges ruling, not my words. I think you may have misunderstood my post. I was pointing out the insane nonsensical reasoning in the judges ruling which blocks enforcement of the law.I am all for enforcement of this law. And yes, illegal immigrants cost the taxpayers of EVERY state. And those border states such as California and Arizona suffer far more because of federal mandates that the state (taxpayers) must feed, educate and medicate these scofflaws.
  8. "Requiring Arizona law enforcement officials and agencies to determine the immigration status of every person who is arrested burdens lawfully-present aliens because their liberty will be restricted while their status is checked," U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton, a Clinton appointee, said in her decision. WTH, if they are under arrest their liberties are already restricted. And if they are convicted of the crime they are arrested for they should immediately become unlawfully-present aliens and deported. When will people wake up and understand what the lack of immigration enforcement is do
  9. AE this one's for you. a California website ran an e-mail forum (a question and answer exchange) where the topic was "Policing the Community."One of the civilian email participants posed the following question:*"I would like to know how it is possible for police officers to continually harass people and get away with it?"*From the "other side" (the law enforcement side) a cool cop with a sense of humor replied: It is not easy. In California we average one cop for every 2,000 people. About 60% of those cops are on patrol, where we do most of the harassing. One-fifth of that 60% are
  10. You are abouot as dumb as a brick. You think the departments keep or directly benefit from traffic fines? Care to share your SID or FBI number so we can have a better understanding of what your issue with law enforcement is?
  11. The problem is a lot of folks THINK they know their rights. “I know my rights by god and if you arrest me you hafta read me my Miranda rights.” Another one is “I have a right to a phone call” well no not really. The jail staff will let you make calls for the purpose of making bond, but it is at their pleasure and discretion. I really don’t have a problem with the video, or people understanding or exercising their rights. The problem is that I understand the constitution, and how the courts have ruled on certain cases that have set prescience in the application and interpretatio
  12. I average about 8 warnings to 1 citation, so the odds of not getting a citation from me are in the violators favor. The crying doesn’t really have an effect on me one way or another. My decisions to issue a citation are based primarily on the type of and severity of the violation, the offenders driving history and their attitude. so you should be safe in my neck of the woods.
  13. It is just your right to appear in court, guilty or not. As it is also your right to just pay the fine and wave any court appearance unless it is a mandatory appearance. My point from a LEOs point of view is a violator has nothing to loose by appearing, if I am present you will most likely not win your case (not being cocky, but I have a proven track record in making and prevailing in traffic cases). But on the other hand something may prevent me from being present and if you show the case will most likely be dismissed, or even if a conviction is had in the case often you can ask the judge to
  14. DGITW, I applaud you for your approach to your situation. Although you have admitted you were in the wrong it is the states burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt before a court. In this case the officer is the state ,or municipality if a city police dept was the issuing agency. If the officer does not make it for whatever reason it will most likely be dropped for want of prosecution. Officers do sometimes miss court dates, be it a scheduling conflict, or one of many other legitimate reasons. One has nothing to loose by making an appearance in court Vs just paying the fine. Sometimes
  15. What is that ,8 officers slain in less than two months? HUMMM. And those are just for the months of May and June 2010. I guess since you consider all cops bad, I should consider all non officers to be lowlife POS then. This is 8 cases of murder committed upon law enforcement officers in less than two months, MURDERED FOR DOING THEIR JOB….can you find the same statistics of murder by police officers on innocent citizens?

  20. Dont waste time with this tool, he claimed to have done time in the big house which is a term used by career offenders to reference state or federal prison. If he has done time in the big house he is a felon, if not he is using the term out of its accepted context and he is just pissing in the wind to stir the pot. I would not even allow this person to even offer a suggestion as to what would he do if he was in the officers shoes, obviously he is not qualified to hold such a position and his opinion could be from a convict wanting to place himself into a role he is not qualified for.
  21. So the grand jury returned a no bill on a charge, you admit to doing time so the other charges must have been legit. OH WAIT you just took the plea offer to get it over with because if you went to the trial you would not get a fair trial and be railroaded by the state, and officers who lie under oath, so it was best just to take the plea. YEA heard it all before Would you care to provide a case number and jurisdiction so we can get ALL of the facts of this case? I have been in this field 25 years and have NEVER seen a bond set at 100k for a charge of agg batt. Not saying that it can
  22. LAWWDDDDHABMERCY I just don't have the energy to put into it anymore.LOL
  23. Feel free not to call them. IDIOT Yea that’s right I am resorting to name calling. After several years of trying to have intelligent discussions on this board with a few of these folks it is painfully obvious that it is a lost cause with some. The jabs, name calling and childish drivel is all some of these folks understand.
  24. I wear RayBan Raptors. I have two pair, polarized and non . The polarized are used while driving and the non polarized are used while flying. The polarized cant be used when flying because they make the MFD and other LCD screens and displays hard or impossible to read,
