It's hard to not to be "sensitive" when someone basically says I have a mental disorder because I am heavily tattooed. Self-mutilation? Get real! You mentioned "stamping and stabbing" ... Stamping is for crafters and stabbing is something killers do ... so, should we jump out on a limb and say that people who hunt have some deep issue and they feel the need to act out violently by shooting Bambie? Give me a break. And kinky side? HAHA! Do you judge people who cut their skin open and get boob jobs? How about people who inject themselves for fuller lips? Tattoos will age with your skin, but our industry is way more modern than years back, so those blob looking tattoos are not something people who currently get tattooed have to worry about. Yes, the old mentality is that the low class people get tattooed. Obviously that is so very far from the truth. I tattoo doctors, nurses, lawyers, preachers, police officers, EMT workers, firemen, and the suit & tie folks.

I don't think there really is anything to explain. I think people guage their ears for various reasons. Tattoos and piercings are not always done for a physical enhancement, they are done for personal reasons that have nothing to do with beauty. I have lots of friends who have large guages in their ears. I don't think twice or question it because it isn't my body.
