I've heard about some of the cases on this show but have never watched it. Does anyone watch it? Is there any explanation given for these types of behaviors? This woman doesn't want to cut her toenails---and look at her fingernails: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebMNsG-qOCk

That's one obstacle one of therapists mentioned that worked with people on one of the shows. She mentioned that some of her clients feel very responsible and don't want to waste something useful. They want to see that it is recycled, sold, donated, given away, etc.

Should kids be allowed to have lemonade stands? Midway, Ga., Police Shut Down Kids' Lemonade Stand Written by Jack Kenny Friday, 15 July 2011 17:40 Police in Midway, Georgia shut down a lemonade stand run by three girls trying to make money for a trip to a water park in Savannah because the youngsters didn't have the license and permits required for their fledgling enterprise. City ordinances require a business license, a peddler's permit, and a food permit for the vending of food or beverages, even on residential property in the small city (pop. approximately 1,100) just sout

How often do you see a household that seems balanced? People are stressed and it seems to show up in different areas with different people. There are people that have too much stuff vs. those with compulsively bare furnishings and people who eat too much vs. those with anorexia, etc. Now there are shows profiling people who eat dirt, drink finger nail polish, cannot bare to cut their toenails, etc.

I have some questions about Incorrigible Child laws
ButterflyLion replied to nschur's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Paul Hegstorm has a series of videos online. He tells about how he was molested as a child (first at age 3, but later at well) and the severe anger he had as adult. He explains the brain of a child that experienced trauma; i.e. arrested development. He abused his wife severely years ago. They were the subject of a movie where John Ritter was the actor that played him. He's written a couple of books. One is Broken Children: Grown-Up Pain. Here's a description of it from amazon.com/: Despair. Emotional isolation. Self-loathing. Immaturity. Abusive actions. These are just some of the damaging -
Did anyone see this when it was on TV? I've watched a little of the video and plan watch the rest. It's discerning that they sent a Los Angeles swat team to destroy food at a co-op in CA. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBiJB8YuDBQ

Would it be possible for him to take some art classes, an art workshop, etc. especially for just regular kids interested in art? Maybe together you could research the artists and the creative process that goes into making Star Wars, etc. -

I think it's good that you are able to see him as adult being able to succeed. Also, I would help him explore HIS strengths and encourage them. He might be suited to work in a field that is more creative than some. -

I can speak from experience as a child with talents and gifts that were different than my parents. My parents were practical. We used to call my mom Mrs. Clean---as in a female version of the Mr. Clean commercials. I was artistic and creative (art and writng, etc.) Anyway the important part is VALUE and nurture your son and his interests, talents, etc., whatever they are. Basically my mother wanted me to be like her and it showed. I can understand better now as an adult but as a child I felt devalued because of it. Also, for parents who are more practical and have a child that is more -
I guess one thing that concerns me is if someone has the power then they can use for good or bad. And some people have different ideas about which is which. If that wasn't the case why would there be wars, crimes and the like?

Pubby, I see the government and drug companies and the like taking steps to take away freedom from the people. For example why should it be so hard in this country for people if they choose natural/alternative treatments for terminal illnesses like cancer?

It must encouraging and frustrating at the same time that he is well behaved at school and not at home. I would think it means something though. -

Maybe he is trying to communicate something through his drawing that he can't otherwise express. What does he draw? -

Experience with Spech therapy for toddlers?

Just reading your post I can get some feeling for the frustration you mention. So many resources mention stress as contributing to just about any kind of problem people can have so I'm wondering if finding ways to reduce stress and laugh and have more fun wouldn't help. Most everyone could use more of that. -
Thanks.

A tiny wasp from Asia is a natural enemy of the kudzu bugs: Entomologists studying wasps to combat kudzu bugs 7:30 PM, Oct 19, 2011 Written by Jerry Carnes ATLANTA - The answer to Georgia's nasty kudzu bug problem may be a dust spec sized wasp from Asia. Homeowners all over metro-Atlanta are horrified by the swarm of ladybug-looking pests that are swarming out of Georgia's kudzu patches. They cover the outside of homes, attach themselves to your shirt, and are even responsible for destroying some of the state's soybean crop. Entomologists with the University of Geor
