  1. I'm not sure about Sunday specials, but on Friday they had beautiful plants. They are a little pricier than Home Depot, but the quality surpassesHD. A 9 pack of portulaca(sp), the little plants, was $3.99 but they were healthy and the colors outstanding. I'm a cheapskate and I bought some. I also got two huge hanging baskets of purple and pink lantana(sp) for $12.99, that less than the ones I got at HD.

Thanks. I've seen Heirloom Tomato plants at some Ace locations in previous years. Has anyone noticed if they have veggie plants?

  2. In researching ways to help my dogs be healthier, I came across the following and thought that some of you might benefit from this information:

"Melatonin has been found to be helpful when used with dogs who have "thunder-phobia," other noise-related reactions and other stressful situations. Melatonin has been used effectively to reduce seizures in dogs that seize between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Quite a few members of our Canine Epilepsy community have also discovered that it seems to lessen the frequency and/or severity of seizures at other times of the day.

Melatonin is a naturally occurring substance produced by the pineal gland located in the brains of mammals. It is, by definition, a hormone and has been found to be involved in circadian rhythms - those inner cycles that tell all mammals when to sleep and when to wake. In recent years, synthetic melatonin has been marketed for people as a "natural" aid to sleeping.

In the May 2000 issue (Volume 3, Number 5) of The Whole Dog Journal is an article on melatonin and the positive results with noise and thunder-phobic dogs. The article begins on page 3 and is titled "Bring in Da Noise." The article has comments by Dr. Dodman and Dr. Linda Aronson. It does not discuss melatonin and canine epilepsy, but does discuss some of the concerns people might have with use of melatonin and their feelings on it..."

  5. That is an excellent question about the coupons, I will be back at the store on Monday, so if someone knows before that please post it.

The ad for the week is on Hobbylobby.com they will be posted on Sunday and start on Monday. I probably won't bring much of a paycheck home after shopping. LOL

    See ya there.

Does anyone know about the competitor coupons?

  6. First year students at a new school get to put a message on bricks that will be grey, this first order only all other bricks in future orders will be red. So with the P-O-S-S-I-B-I-L-T-Y of havng more children I do not want to put my 3 I have now on one brick, so other than our Last name Family what other message would you put on a brick, that will be there forever for MANY MANY students to see. Help me out.

    Did you decide?

  7. Have you been sending out the "Exclusive E-Coupons," mentioned in your advertising here? I signed up at your website several weeks ago, but I've never received anything. (I just signed up again with another e-mail address to see if I get anything at it.)

  8. Thank you all for your prayers and sharing your experiences.

Weatherboy, Dahlia is 4 years old. My husband and I have always prayed for our dogs---and our birds when we had those and they were sick.

We took Dahlia back to the veterinarian this morning. We still don't know what is wrong with her. They gave her a shot of valium for the muscle spasms. It has helped her feel a little better and lessened the spasms. I have an appointment in the morning to carry her back.

  9. Each vet brings their own experience and knowledge so I can't help you there ....

But I will kepp y'all in my thoughts for answers. I hurt when they hurt too!

    Thanks so much.

We used to live in a small town in another state. There was only one veterinarian there, but I've never seen anyone as gifted as he was at diagnosing and treating dogs. I remember so many times being in one of the examing rooms with one of our dogs and Dr. Hill would walk in and almost immediately be able to tell me what their problem was.

  10. My Pekingese, Dahlia, isn't feeling well. The first symptom I noticed was a decrease in her appetite and generally not feeling as well as usual, but then for a couple of days she seemed to feel somewhat better. Then yesterday she was shaking all over. We took her to the veterinarian yesterday morning and they ran blood profile tests and a fecal exam. The veterinarian thought it might be her stomach or back. Her symptoms weren't that clear. They gave her two shots---one for nausea and an antibiotic. The gave her two meds to take at home: a liquid antibiotic and Rimadyl. Yesterday afternoon she started having a spasm that seems to originate in her chest. That was where they drew her blood from yesterday. She has been having it today despite the Rimadyl and has has no appetite and sometimes seems to have a spasm in her back.

Would some of you pray for her? My husband and I don't have any human children and are very close to our dogs. When one of them is sick I feel sick, too.

Also, are there any veterinarians in the area that are especially gifted at diagnosing and treating dogs?

  11. I went this afternoon. It's a big store. I bought some trim and a glue that's labeled as a water based "super glue." I hope it works well. You can see their ad at their website and print off a coupon good for 40% off the price of one regular item.

  12. Has anyone been yet? How big is it?

Does Hobby Lobby accept competitor's coupons (those from Michaels and Joanns' sales circulars and/or those printed off the internet?)

For any of you who do crafts see the thread I started. I'm hoping we might be able to meet in person some time and share inspiration, crafting experiences, etc.

Edited to add link to Crafters thread:

  13. I've had a chronic sore throat since beginning CPAP 3 months ago. I saw my primary care physician about 3 weeks ago and she suggested allergy medication but it hasn't helped. I've noticed that I've been waking up more frequently with air leaking from my mouth. I don't think I'm breathing through my mouth. I just wake up during the night and feel the pressure of the air coming through my mouth. I've read that sore throats can be caused by mouth leaks and that heated humidification is suppose to help, but it hasn't in my case. I was at the CPAP clinic at my doctor's office on March 4 and she suggested I turn up the humidifier and I have---several times.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and did you find a solution?
