  1. You can ALWAYS find the sample ballots here: http://www.sos.ga.gov/mvp/. Type in your info and you will get the right one for your District. You can find the debate for Surpreme Court Justice here: http://www.atlantapressclub.org/debates/
  2. I don't think the OP limited their question to one strictly about playing sports. You can read it any way you want. If you don't like my opinion just ignore it and don't reply. I think I made my point. Sorry you did not understand it.
  3. You are the last person I would call thick! I think momof 3 will agree when she rereads the post. She is a smart lady too. You are one of the smartest best informed people on this board. I would love for my Grand Kids to be in your class! I can relate to folks who have an opinion and voice it! Just wish I could keep myself out of all that hot water I seem to find myself in. I have found that losing a battle does not mean that you have lost the war. If this Principal had remembered that she may not have found herself in so much hot water.
  4. Private rec leagues are different from school teams. When my kid played years ago they all played at least half of the game. Why pay if your kid could not play? They did learn from older better players. They kept score and they KNEW when they won or lost. By the time they play on a school team they should be able to understand winning and losing. Yep they are coddled on the field and off the field.
  5. If it helps any McFadden wrote the book on Georgia Appellate Practice. He really did. His opponent has had no appellate experience and when she had an appellate issue she sent it to McFadden. That was a statement made by McFadden in one of the debates. The Judges are terribly important. I hope you will look up the debates and get a feel for which is best in your opinion.
  6. I wasn't speaking of just sports. We are not teaching our kids how to fail and get back up and try again or that they need to work at winning. We are not teaching them that there are REAL winners and losers. They don't know the diffence any more because we have made their worlds WIN/WIN. How many times have I heard that expression?
  7. I totally agree with them. America's children have no trouble with self esteem but they are falling further and further behind other counties when they are tested. There is a reason for that. They have trouble learning how to win and how to lose. JMO
  8. Pretty stupid too. These crooks are going to encounter an off duty officer sooner or later and then they may get what they deserve.
  9. On voting day yes. Early voting may be limited to 2 or 3 places. I know the Courthouse will be one for early voting.
  10. I think there will be early voting. I will check and post. If someone already has that info maybe they will jump in with it. Judges are very important and we need to vote.
  11. There will be a runoff election on November 30th for Georgia Supreme Court, between Tammy Lynn Adkins and David Nahmias, and Court of Appeals, between Toni Davis and Chris McFadden. My choices are Nahmias and McFadden.
  12. I was there to see the process. I go to Board meetings when there is someting going on that I think is important to the community. How the BOE holds these hearings (and they are rare) is important. I could not stay long but it did appear to me that she got a fair hearing and that the BOE did what it was required to do. That should be important to all of us. It was important enough to some that it made the local news. Those of us who were there knew the difference between the facts and what the news reported. That alone was worth knowing. Things are not always as they seem to be and fi
  13. I think Pubby said they only stayed for a couple of hours that morning and then came back late in the hearing. I doubt they knew what the real issues were. Insubordination was the focus the best I could determine.
  14. I agree that if there is a double standard it needs to be addressed and corrected.
  15. Still not real life. I know you care for this Principal and this for her was real. I wish for her sake and all involved that the hearing yesterday did not have to happen.
  16. Harper Valley PTA was a song about a Parent who was being judged by a school board. This is real life and it is the BOE's job to judge the employees if called upon to do so.. I am sure they would have loved to have been anywhere in the world except in that room having to listen to that stuff about their employees.. I was saddened to see that so much of this stuff is apparently going on. If you want to call it personal that is OK. I just wish they would KEEP it personal. I wonder how many students are now aware of it?
  17. They announced the vote right after the news clip because they had just received the call on it. Monica Kaufman made the announcement I believe.
  18. I guess that will remain a matter of opinion unless she chooses to take it to court. When there is a ruling from the court it will then be a decision based on law and not feelings.
  19. The only report I heard was on Channel 2 News. They said 6-0 and I think that is what Pubby reported too. I guess he will find out and make a correction if it was not reported correctly.
  20. If the charge was insubordination and the evidence showed she was guilty of that then Mr. Turner would not have been charged unless he was thought to be guilty of insubordination too.
  21. There is a way to stand up and a way to present your case. If her position was backed by the state/federal law she should have let it play itself out. She most likely would have prevailed. The charge, as I understood it ,was insubordination. That is a reason for termination. Having the guts to stand on your beliefs is admirable having the judgement to survive and continue the fight another day is sometimes a better choice. Since I was not there I can't say how bad the confrontation with her superiors was but according to what I heard yesterday it was really way over the line. She may no
