Pubby, the video was a excuse made up by the Administration. The story was not true. -
Student Yells At Teacher About Her Teaching Methods
NewsJunky replied to NewsJunky's topic in RECENT TOPICS
If all she did was pass out packets the kids parents should have had some serious discussions with the Administration. I feel for the kid but I also know we don't have all of the story. I hope more comes out about this. -

I have never in my life heard so many excuses and coverups made for a group of people! Starting with the President on down. How can you make excuses for him and the lies and deceptions? Democrats and liberals have long gone on about how they believe in truth and especially from the leadership of this country. How sad to see the lengths they will go to protect this President and his Administration! -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12ZRuM8UtDA Wow! I wonder how many folks believe this guy is a Hero? He sure made himself heard and the teacher said nothing in her defense. I do not know how to make the video appear in the post so please click on the link to view it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12ZRuM8UtDA

I think he was thinking more about how Democrats and Republicans came together against the actions of Nixon and the Watergate participants. It would be nice if Democrats would/could admit the failures of this president. -
Never doubted that the verdict would be anything else.

Did you mean for us to spy on you in your office?

If the truth had come out before the election he might not have been elected. People died and families will never see them again. I could not believe Hillary wanted to know what difference it made? That is all in addition to the Administration's total incompetence in handling that act of terrorism. -

If you are a veteran call USAA. -
And that is my worry about one size fits all education. Not to mention that it appears that the Federal Government will be in contol of what is taught. I think that decision should be local. Maybe I am wrong. Trying to keep an open mind about this.
-
Yep. Mine too. Gave me chills.
-
Those who are against it say that the Government will not stick to standard stuff like you are speaking of. Think English also includes reading. I know that some schools have already been shocked at some of the things that parents have found in the curriculum. Happened as close as Cobb and as far away as Texas. Just a few of the things I have heard. This was an interesting read on the subject: http://www.washingto...940a0_blog.html

The standards that are in place, as I understand it, are State Standards. I have misgivings about the Federal Government controlling them. I have always favored local control. The more I hear about this the more questions I have. Could start out OK and then the Government could change it in way we might not like.

Do folks support the Federal Government's contol over curriculum in math and reading in Georgia or do you think Parents should have had a vote on this? It is becoming a hot topic in Georgia and some other states with talk among some about pulling Georgia out. It sure is. Wish that kid had not acted the way he did and that the ref was still here among us. Life is very sad/tragic sometimes. Maybe if folks know these things happen they can take steps to help stop it.

This was part of the story I sited as my link. "Police have accused a 17-year-old player in a recreational soccer league of punching Portillo after he called a foul on him and issued him a yellow card." Your link above also calls it a rec league but you are correct that it was not affiliated with any youth organization, town, or city league. Did not know this kind of league existed. Maybe their rules are different for being allowed to play????? Quote from your link: "The league is not affiliated with the Utah Youth Soccer Association or any city or town recreation department.
-
You did a good job with this Pubby!
-
Think you are correct. I believe rec. leagues are hosted by youth organizations, cities. towns, or counties. When my kid played it was like that. May have changed.....
-
Mr Dis, I knew you when you played and you were a good kid. I disagree with CC, Parents can do their best with kids and have one that is far different from either parent. Sorry you have such heartache with one you love so much. Not your fault. I think you were wise to keep your young man out of sports and it is a shame the kid in this thread did not have parents who were as wise.

He must have loved kids to come back and risk injury by one them again. Kids that are capable of violence like that should not be allowed to play.

Powder Springs Residents Want to Lose Hiram Zip Code
NewsJunky replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I have heard that there is a worry that some tax dollars may go to the wrong city or county because of these zip codes. We really should have zips that belong to the city or county in which we live. JMO -
Saddened me too. I saw so many men like him when my kid played varied sports. I never saw a kid strike one of them on purpose. One was hit by a ball in a baseball game and was in a coma. He later passed away and the Ron Anderson Recreation Center in Powder Springs was named after him. I wonder if times have changed, kids have changed, or if things like this have always happened?

This is not the lesson the 17 year old was supposed to learn. He could not control himself and punched the referee after he gave the player a yellow card in soccer. Kid apparently did not play well with others. How very sad for this man's family. Link to story: http://www.ajc.com/ap/ap/crime/soccer-referee-punched-by-player-in-utah-dies/nXhGJ/
