  1. Saxby is going and needs to go. New Senator next election.
  2. You did not ruffle my feathers. Your info was good. I just don't want the US Senate to over rule any attempt to label these foods. Sorry if it sounded otherwise.Sad when you have to go to the Guardian in the UK to get info on the vote..... http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/may/23/senate-gm-food-labeling-farm-bill
  3. . Our US Senate just voted that this type of food does not have to be labeled. That is the reason I wanted to know more about it. I would like to see it labeled. Let me decide whether or not I want to buy it. I heard some of my relatives say that about smoking. Guess what they died from.....
  4. I am starting to agree with your DIL and son. The more I read about it the more I worry. They should at least label the stuff. The Senate vote against labeling is not right. JMO
  5. That's because a lot of folks are so promiscuous.
  6. Another reason not to be promiscuous. I wish today's young people would listen but I doubt they will.
  7. I think you mean Carrington Point not Carrington Lake.
  8. The plan when Obamacare was passed was to price them out of existence. We knew that from the getgo. They want a single payer system. It has nothing to do with cutting fat it has to do with government mandates.
  9. We had some off Bakers Bridge. Power almost went off during the storm.
  10. Tell you what Laurie, you get that new insurance and I will keep what I pay so dearly for. It works for me. Course we know now that we may not be able to keep the insurance we like as Obama promised. Heard that in California some of the premiums were going up 146% and people can't keep it. Who is surprised by that?
  11. Look out for the IRS we know how they have handled things lately and they will be enforcing Obamacare.
  12. Laurie you know my story and I guarantee you that Wellstar could say they have doctors that could handle my issues. We know they could not but a doctor at Emory could. I think there would be problems. Wonder if I would need a policy for both. Would cost a fortune I guess.
  13. Monsanto going after the farmer next door was mentioned at the meeting too. .
  14. surepip, what do you know about Monsanto and what they are doing with genetically altered corn. Heard at a meeting the other night that the Senate voted not to require labeling of food treated that way. The stuff I heard made me worry about the corn crops. Heard that some foreign countries have burned all of those crops because they found out how dangerous they could be. .
  15. I tried to say what you said but did not manage to get my point across. You said it so very well!
  16. The Army nurse in the Shadow of the Blade is a good friend. She is still amazing.
  17. Maybe so. My parents lived through that too and they survived. Took a lot to do that. Lots of good responsible lessons learned. Some of those seem to have been forgotten.
  18. We walked away because the public did not have the stomach for it. The soldiers were another matter. Hats off to all of them!
  19. Thank you for that service. The TET Offensive was the turning point in that war and it caused a shift in the support of it. Johnson decided not to run for President again in large part because of public opinion of the war at that point.
  20. I lived in the middle of those working people. The fact was that most folks did not believe in that war with the fervor and dedication that they did previous wars. I take nothing away from the soldiers when I say that. Look at who is in power in the government today. The seeds were planted then. Bill Ayers comes to mind right away. A number of them sat at his knee and listened intently.
  21. I disagree again. I still remember the college students and others demonstrating on the campuses against the war in Vietnam. I do not doubt for a moment that they and others would never have gotten behind sacrifices if they had been asked. The soldiers coming home were treated horribly. It was a sad time for many of them. You said the greatest generation and I was disappointed to see how that generation treated our guys who returned home from a war they did not start. They answered the call and served their country. They deserved respect and should have been thanked for that.
  22. I admire all who stood and fought in the Vietnam Conflict but can't agree that they were the greatest generation. During WWII the whole of America and their allies suffered shortages and raised victory gardens to feed their families. Many mothers and wives went to work for the first time to help the war effort. They contributed metal pots and pans and anything they could find for the fight. We never had to do those things during the Vietnam years. My Dad fought in WWII and I know what he endured. Sorry I just can't agree with you.
  23. After this County made national news for segregated proms I wonder how many news stations will tell the rest of the story? The very best part! Thank you Maureen Downey for an excellent look at the true story! http://www.ajc.com/w...d-we-ignore-re/ Just part of the letter: Now that this issue is settled, I wish I could get the public as excited about public education as they have been over this issue. I wish the media requests from CNN, Fox News, the Today Show, Headline News, numerous New York talk shows, Al Jazeera English and countless others would come rushing in to address j
