Okay guys! We have 4.5 hours left before shut-down. Please help if you feel led!
Do we know clothing sizes for mom yet? I have some new stuff that I can't wear with tags still on them.

Wonderful news!!! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Anyone have any? Old cabinet doors or something similar would be great. I'm running low on the last collection I made and if anyone has anything like this, I'd sure appreciate taking it off your hands....I can pick it up if you'd like.
I have dozens of pieces of 1" x 4" x approximately 24" long white wood. They are the end cuts from the new fence rails that are going up. You are more than welcome to some of them.

George Washington's 1789 Thanksgiving Proclamation
Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me to "recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:"
Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.
And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shown kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.
Given under my hand, at the city of New York, the 3d day of October, A.D. 1789.
NOTE:
Shortly after the Thanksgiving Proclamation was written, it was lost for 130 years. The original document was written in long hand by William Jackson, secretary to the President, and was then signed by George Washington. It was probably misplaced or mixed in with some private papers when the US capitol moved from New York to Washington, D.C. The original manuscript was not placed in the National Archives until 1921 when Dr. J. C. Fitzpatrick, assistant chief of the manuscripts division of the Library of Congress found the proclamation at an auction sale being held at an art gallery in New York. Dr Fitzpatrick purchased the document for $300.00 for the Library of Congress, in which it now resides. It was the first official presidential proclamation issued in the United States.

These are the same type of kids that get their thrills dropping bowling balls and cement blocks onto cars from overpasses. Just like with drugs, they'll keep going for more and more thrills until someone has a "come to Jesus" meeting with them. And I'm not talking about befriending them. What they did to you is well beyond that point.
I hope these kids wake up before they wind up in prison or worse.

This was a family that had been displaced and I was helping them out for what was supposed to be a week. Turned out to be there for nearly a year. The age range was from elementary (well one had a baby while there, but they left right after) to mostly hs to adult. The kids were "homeshcooled" by the parents (both were there)
I am no longer naive about someone you knowing and caring about hurting you w/o concern.
Anyway, it's a long story, but they are gone and I hope and pray it stays that way!
It is such a shame that your kindness was returned with such wickedness.

I am so sorry this is happening to you,
It just shouldn't be this way that good hardworking folks like you, your husband, and neighbors should live in fear that punks like this could hurt you or your beloved horses,
I wish there was something I could do to help.
I hope you get this resolved soon!
Luv ya girl!
Thanks, LP. Both you and your dad are in my prayers.

I hate that for you even more. I had some former friends actually break into my home. I did call the police, I had to file a report, but I lived with a lot of fear of retaliation from them. They have left us alone, thankfully.
Were the people who broke into your home adults or kids? Its hard for me to comprehend that the kids stealing from me and damaging my property are running around all hours of the night and going to school too.

We will have our fence up by Thanksgiving while B. is out in Tulsa racing. I really don't need the names, its not too hard to figure it out.
Let us know if we can help you with your fence.

I disagree with befriending them. I always start off being friends with people when I can, but when I see I can't or it's a one way street, I don't waste my time. Seriously, these are not the types of friends you want, neither them or their parents. The fact that anyone would feel the need to express kindness to thugs is enabling, in my opinion. I would not recommend being rude or nasty, just neutral. Never reward bad behavior. You should not have to make friends with people just so they won't damage your property.
I agree with you. My husband is afraid that they might hurt my horses if we pursue having them arrested. I can't live in fear of what they will do next.

Well, I hate that this happening to you. Parents usually deny this type of thing for at least three different reasons, 1) no way their precious child could have been involved,
they don't care and/or c) they don't want to pay.
My suggestion would be to go CSI on them. Document as much as possible, set up video cameras, call the police every time and get a written police report. Then when you know who the culprits are, take them to court and sue them. With that much evidence, you will def. win. Then take your winnings and build a better fence.
As much as I would love to see you paint-ball these kids or set-up some "safe" booby-traps, I wouldn't recommend it at all. It just takes one kid to actually get hurt (or claim it) and his/her family will sue you.
Good luck to you.
Thanks! We put in the video cameras after the last incident. Unfortunately, I hadn't used the horse trailer for several days and didn't know that the damage had been done until we started loading it for a trip. We are in the process of putting up fencing that will allow our 4 dogs to patrol day and night. Then they will have to get past my dogs to come onto my property. The police talked with a couple of the kids the last time they were caught damaging my property. We have filed a report after every incident but this last one. I do plan to file a report on this as well. I didn't take the time when the damage was first discovered because I had 3 Special Olympic riders waiting for me in Perry, GA and it took a couple of hours to take care of the damage and get on the road.

When did this happen. If you don't mind pm me the names of the ones you caught. I never really worried about my house with Rex here and in a few months Sugar Ray will be big enough to watch the house.
We believe that the vandalism happened Halloween night. The theft of the decorations occurred either Sat., Oct. 27th or early Sunday morning. It would have to have been very late because I am usually working outside until close to midnight. I can't mention any names, but I will tell you that the "ring leader" lives close by.

sorry to hear about this
just courious if the parents ever brought the children to appoligize or clean up the mess they made?
sounds like it's time for the police
some peolpes kids. <_>
good luck
Thanks!
Only one parent ever acknowledged that their kid had done anything and that's because a Paulding County police officer caught the kid in the act. I talked to one of the kid's parents and told them that I had caught their kid with items stolen from my property and the kid still denied it. He said that a mentally retarded neighbor must have taken the items. One of these kids is on a fast track to prison but he is taking a couple of "followers" with him.

Egging one's property is one thing - tampering with a vehicle is entirely another. <_>
LauraLeigh Farms, have you contacted the police/SO? Be sure you let them know you have cameras on the premises ... I'm sure they'll be interested in whatever images you have. Good luck - I hope they catch your vandals.
I have reported thefts and vandalism by these kids several times but couldn't prove anything. That was before we got the cameras. Unfortunately, the kids know where the cameras are located and may have been able to avoid them. I won't know until I go through the tapes. I'm afraid that if I don't catch them soon, they will do something much worse.
