  1. we garden, compost, recycle, and burn natural products instead of throwing them in the trash. no garbage disposal, raw veggie waste goes in the heap, and cooked foods go to the dogs. cfl's throughout the house, almost by accident. they give off less heat...and with the crappy a/c we had, it mattered. reusable bags from publix get used for lots more than just groceries. they're sturdy and convenient. i know i'm not saving the world, but i'm doing what i'm comfortable with.

  5. while the premise of the book was/is somewhat disturbing, it's fiction, and yes, i've read it. but being able to manipulate genes doesn't have to be a bad thing. eradicating congenital/hereditary diseases/deformities/defects is something to look forward to. if scientists could eliminate the need for organizations like operation smile, march of dimes, etc.... would anyone be mad about it? there's a line between science, fiction, and science fiction. people need to educate themselves abut the factual part of what's in the works, instead of having kneejerk reactions to information th
  6. that statement could be used for anything new thing that man attempts. the invention of electricity? god created light. god created birds, men invented jumbo jets. anything you can do i can do better. ultimate pissing contest. but yet, life saving heart surgery? praise god for giving man the talent. surgeries in the womb? woo hoo! babies saved by doctors who what, picked up the ball where god dropped it.
  7. what does the child's future career have to do with it's conception? plenty of kids are products of ivf, and i doubt you can tell it by looking at them, or their grades, or their careers. as far as a child being 'produced' to fill a certain job....how is this a 'new' concept? farmers had kids to help on the farms. i had kids so i could quit mowing the lawn and taking out the trash. horrifying, i know.
  8. meh. i'm done having kids, and don't particularly give a crap how anyone else chooses to have them.

  16. ok, so here's the obligtory, "what the heck didja do last night" that you've been waiting on.
  17. how this ratings system works now-a-days. used to be, someone (the tv gods?) selected homes to place special boxes in and or they sent booklets to manually fill in what channels were watched at what times. I know this because in the summer of 1988, they sent the booklet to my house and my idiot parents let me be in charge of filling it out. yep. nuthin but MTV 24 hours a day. i was such a jackass. anyway. how is is that they're collecting ratings now? is big brother really inside my tv, reporting on what i watch, how often, and at what times? does dvr come in to play? am i
