  1. I'd rather pay a bit more and have it work like I want and to last longer than 5 years.
  2. That's what mine does too and I HATE it!!!!! Where did you buy your washer? I'm not the most confident in the sales people I've come into contact in the last week, I guess I have to be more informed than they are from the start.
  3. Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions. I'm sure I don't want a front loader and I'm sure I want clean clothes. I also want a washer that doesn't have mind of it's own, if I want to fill it up to the tip top to wash a pair of socks, I want that option. I think that's one of my biggest issues with my current machine, you push the start button, the lid locks and that's the end of that. I'm off to do more research........YUK!
  4. I have heard of SpeedQueen and I like the warranty. We probably do at least 15-20 loads of laundry a week, between kids, dogs, a lineman and a truck driver at our house, it has to be durable and do a good job. It makes me sick knowing what I paid for this machine that I DO NOT LIKE at all. Oh well, what do you do!?
  5. I'll do that now, thanks! How sad is it when your husband asks you what you want tor Christmas and you say, 'A new washer'? I am one spoiled gal!!
  6. I have a Maytag HE (high efficiency) washing machine that is less than a year old and I HATE it. It sounded great when I found out that it 'sensed' the load size and only used a fraction of the water of normal washers. I wasn't thinking about soaking heavily soiled clothing, which with Hubbys job, he often has really dirty clothes. With the washer not filling up with water and swishing the clothes around, they often don't come clean and I have to wash them again. I swear some of them aren't even wet when I go to put them in they dryer. I remember a few years ago that there were washers wi
  7. I hate to admit it, but I LOVE TWINKIES. I NEVER, EVER buy them because I know I'll eat them and how bad they are for me. I was having a really bad day about a month ago and when Hubby got home from work, he had something hidden behind his back. Guess what it was? A single pack of Twinkies, and it couldn't have brightened my day more if it had have been a diamond. YUMMY!!!!!! It worked too!!!!!!
  8. Agreed 100%. Hubby and I worked at a friends church for parents night out and 85%+ of the kids we kept on Friday night were home schooled. I'm not knocking home school or the people who choose to do it because I know that there many successful kids and parents out there. However, MOST of these kids were H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E!!!!!! They would tell you point blank that they didn't have to listen to you, they had NO social skills what so ever and had no clue as to how to interact with other kids and certainly not adults besides their own parents. The last time I worked there, I had a boy throw a fold
  9. I'm glad you went there first!!! Of course, I'm following a close second!!
  10. I had a friend who landed a much coveted and hard to get job at a very well known and huge Cobb county christian school. She was teaching high schoolers and she said that the behavior and attitudes of the students was bad enough, but that the parents were W-O-R-S-E. She was stunned more than once when she had issues with her kids and the parents were rude and flatly refused to believe that their kids did ANY wrong and even of they believed her, they did nothing to help remedy whatever problem she had. She quit after a year and went back to public school and is as happy as a lamb. The old sayi
  11. Public school. I'm not sure how to word this without sounding pompous, but we have never had any problem because our kids are very intelligent and well rounded. We began taking them to museums before they could walk, we've traveled, have always done 'Trivia question of the day', watched documentaries from the solar system to Mother Teresa, etc. They all three have always tested/test off the charts with any standardized test given. Their vocabularies are broader than most adults I have ever known. When 5th grader was 2, we were at Walmart and he said to me, 'Mom, that ball is enormous'. There w
  12. It's per download and it depends on what you purchase as to what the price is. A single song is usually $1.29 and full albums are about what you'd pay in the store. They also have videos and podcasts and the cost varies for those as well. Between my daughters, myself and Hubby, we have almost 2000 songs collected over the last 6 years. We have every kind of music you can think of and it's great to be able to burn your own CD with whatever songs you want.
  13. This may not be a popular sentiment, but someone IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS BOY BEING MISSING!! I know for a fact that on special needs buses, there are attendants and certainly a bus driver. So this boy jumped out of a window and they just drove on? It seems to me that if they had stopped immediately, he could have at least been attended until police or a parent arrived. Did he run so fast that he was gone as soon as he hit the ground? I have a real hard time believing that this was handled properly or that it even happened the way it's being told. Having a special needs granddaughter, this MA
  14. Agree 1000%. My MIL has driven so high, so many times, we're all amazed that she hasn't killed someone and as awful as it would be if she killed herself, it would be 100 times worse if she plowed into an innocent person and killed them. She just doesn't care.
  15. This is exactly what I think too. We have lots of guns at our house, but they're locked up in a safe. If someone was knocking down our door yelling 'police', I'd have no reason to think otherwise and I certainly couldn't get to a weapon fast enough to shoot at them. Although, my daughter lives in Breman, IN THE WOODS and when shes home and awake, she has her gun on her hip loaded and ready to go at all times and when shes asleep, it's right by her bed. I'm torn on this one.
  16. Something is up with this story. A 6'1", 180 lb person jumping out of a bus window? Why on earth didn't the bus pull over and stop? I wouldn't want to be that bus driver.
  17. What a funny name for a restaurant, but I'm certain to remember it!
  18. I hardly ever call him by his name, most of the time it's 'Hey Babe' or 'Dad' or 'Poppy'. He'll answer to just about anything, just like I do as long as it's not nasty!!
  19. Koolaid on the computer screen again!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
  20. Bless your heart, I'm all weepy now! Losing a parent, even one you may not be close to, is horrible. I'm sending good thoughts and vibes and just know that we are thinking about you and hoping for the best!!
