Former Speaker Richardson's chief of staff goes on trial in Alabama for bribery

Recommended Posts

Here's the story in the AJC (click here)

Apparently Sonny Perdue is being discussed as a possible witness for Jay Walker, former Speaker Glenn Richardson's chief of staff, whose trial in Montgomery Alabama is underway this week.

According to the story, Walker is believed to have participated in a scheme that would generate campaign contributions for politicians who backed a native-American casino in Dothan, AL. He was charged with one count of bribery, one of conspiracy, and eleven counts of honest services fraud (whatever that is.)

All politician are Corrupt once they get above a councilman. They are in debt to those that helped them get elected and will always be. Its the reason there are So many different lobbyists in Washington. Dems and Reps are both morally corrupt and fiscally corrupt. Its a shame that people have such a one sided political belief that in theory could change for the better if we quit listening to CNN and FOX news for their opinions on who we should vote for. A little research could do us all good and if we educate ourselves on our politics we MAY... JUST MAY elect someone into office that is not "as corrupt". The problem is the system that "divides and conquers" those of us in society instead of truly benefiting us all.

Remember

Dems and Reps are both crooked and your party is NO better than MY party. They both push wedges in between the grains of our society.

My sentiments exactly.

Our difference here in Georgia is we don't have many Dems left, and none that could be considered influential compared to the Gov, Lt Gov, Speaker, and on down the list.

As I recall Ralph Reed was also involved in this Alabama scheme as he was one of the lobbyists for the Indian Groups wanting licensing for their casinos while wanting others limited.

I wish we could get the investigators to look more closely at our local political shennanigans where by our BOC pays exhorbitant amounts of money to Holland & Knight, a high power nationwide lawfirm with offices in Atlanta. They in turn donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to their PAC, who in turn donates that money to our local candidates either directly, or via other candidates around the state who then donate the money to our local candidates.

In our lawsuits, the BOC over the past 5 years has paid Holland & Knight [the actual attorney in the case is a Keith Wiener no less]over $1million. We can trace more than $200,000 of that money back to Paulding Politicians.

Nice racket there huh.

Same sort of deal Walker has been indicted for.

Lying about sending a picture to a female and a crime are two different things.

Agreed, but showing DOING that in that context show a character flaw. Yet we tend to look past them as long as they are with OUR PARTY... This proves the point of it always being... "I'm unhappy with the elected officials and someone should vote them out, but NOT MY OFFICIAL.." he is the only one that is Good. Its happening all over and all of them are privy to information that we have NO idea as to what is going on or how bad the corruption is.

When this was Newt that was Cheating on his wife... the same folks excusing Weiner were the ones bashing Newt.. Fair should be Fair and we shouldnt allow all the shades of Grey that people are coloring in with.

Two different casino deals. Reed was not involved in this but one of my hometown boys was. He was in the Alabama legislature until they charged him in this lobbying scheme. Still can't understand how folks who get into positions of power and have attained so much can be so stupid and stoop so low!dry.gif

And what about the Democrat on the national news for lying about sexting??? I could easily make a comment about him and Clinton and many others...Guess what??? It has nothing to do with Democrat or Republican. We have a serious problem with ethics and politics on BOTH sides right now. I'm sick of it and I don't care what party they subscribe to. I just want ethical, honest choices and there are so few out there right now.
