I agree. This technology was supposed to make our lives easier and free up our time, instead, it has made us busier.

TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE MOON MONDAY NIGHT/TUESDAY MORNING
mathetes replied to lowrider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
In 2014/2015 we will have four blood moons each occurimg on Jewish holy days. The last three times that happened were: 1492 - Jewish people driven out of Spain 1948 - israel became a nation once again after nearly 2000 years of the diaspora. 1967 - israel retook possession of Jerusalem and the temple mount Keep in mind that the fig tree in the following verses represents israel. Keep your eye on the news coming out of israel. Luke 21:25-28 (The NKJV Daily Bible: Read the Ent) And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nation -

Should an employer have the right to choose to not furnish healthcare to their employees? Do you believe the Bible is the inspired word of God? -

LPPT, Here is a direct quote from Jesus: Matthew 19:4-6 (The NKJV Daily Bible: Read the Ent) And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? 6 So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” Additionally, Jesus validated and upheld the teachings of the old testament, quoting from the books that condemn this lifestyle. -

LPPT, Jesus tolerated people, not sin. Whenever there is a discussion regarding "tolerance" the term needs to be defined as some have deceptively redefined the word to make good appear bad and bad appear good. True tolerance is applied to persons, not ideas. It is a respect shown for people with whom we disagree. Today,s postmodern morally relativistic redefinition of the word tolerance neither allows for respect, nor disagreement and is in fact intolerance in and of itself in the guise of tolerance. Just because a person disagrees with another does not make them intolerant. If there -

That last paragraph describes many in these threads who take great pride in their so called "tolerance" while at the same time exhibiting intolerance toward those who dont agree with them. They tend to throw around loosely such words as hater, intolerant, bigot or racist that these words have lost their meaning. -

Not sure who they are or what problem they would approach Jesus with that would be deserving of death, but you are correct in that christianity elevated the position of women in society. Not sure what doctrine you are referring to. Could you elaborate on this doctrine? -

What absolute moral law are you appealing to in making this moral argument and what gives this moral law its authority? -

Jesus taught that marriage was between a man and a woman. Following the logic of some in this thread, does that therefore make him a "bigot"? -

If civil rights are on the basis of one's chosen lifestyle, is there any behavior that one could not use the power of government to justify and institutionalize on the basis of civil right. This is the slippery slope we are on. -

I'm a little old fashioned. I think that what should matter in your job is your ability to do the job. What a concept! -

I can not click through but I will share my thoughts. It is one thing to have an opinion on these types of things. Just like it is ok for people to hate people of different races or cultures. When you send the check it becomes an act against gay people. Same as burning crosses on lawns it becomes an act. One is illegal of course. The perception of those that support same sex marriage see it as an act against gays. Soooo, giving money to the Baptist church or Catholic church is an act against gay people? Is giving money to Planned Parenthood an act against babies ? ? ? -

Apparently entitlements are sacred.

I agree
-
Mrnn, What makes this an objective definition and not just opinion? How would you define harm in this definition?
-
Define morality without reference to an objective standard? Answer that and i think you will have your answer.
-
This was in response to the statement that it is never okay to discriminate. My point was to show that it is sometimes appropriate to discriminate. I see that you agree.
-
Lets turn the tables and see if you still feel discriminating is never acceptable. Lets say there is a printing company owned by a homosexual couple. Suppose the westboro baptist church went to their place of business and ordered anti - gay banners for their next demonstration. Should the government force them to print these banners if they refuse?

Ok... Somebody help me understand this...

Hate is a word thrown around so loosely today in strawman arguments that it has largely lost its meaning and impact. I tend to dismiss the arguments of those who throw this word out so loosely as disingenuous, thrown out there to illicit an emotional rsponse when they cannot defend their position with reason and logic in a respectful civil discussion. -
In the abscence of an objective moral standard, i would agree that you cannot define these terms, you lose any authority behind moral arguments, and you can justify just about anything, morality being reduced to mere personal opinion. Just as there are natural laws which govern the physical world, there are objective moral laws. Your denial of these laws does not change the truth or existence of these law nor take away the consequences for violating them.
